Why I Regret Getting Maine Coon cats 😩 The Truth ✨

If you know what a sarcasm is 😉 So many “regrets” that I want one more Maine Coon cat 😅
(1) So loud purring
(2) Too loving
(3) Too soft fur
(4) Too intelligent & gentle
(5) Too skilful fly catchers

I have a Maine Coon I named Squatch. He loves to go surf fishing with me. His favorite part is running into the water to help me tow a fish onto the beach. Sometimes he just grabs the fish by the tail and swims back ashore with it flopping about. Sometimes he grabs the fishing line in his teeth and helps me pull it ashore. He knows that no matter what he's going to get a share of the catch. Occasionally he goes in and fetches a fish without me actually catching it. He's shockingly good at fishing.

I swear my old cat was part Maine Coon. He didn’t have the long fur (looked exactly like a Russian Blue), but he had the size and length of a Maine Coon. He could put his chin on the table and watch you eat. And we had to allot time in the morning for him to invade our shower! He had bath toys too, but the showers were the kicker. And he’d get so excited after a shower with my roommate that he’d have to show me how wet he was. He’d jump on the bed and demand pets. Curl up under the comforter soaking wet.

I also had a Maine coon and my died about a month before yours did October 9th I’m not sure how old he was because he was already in adult when I got him but I had him for 10 years so he could’ve been 15 or 16 years old for all I know if not older I know how it feels to lose a pet I’m sorry

I’ve had 3 maincoons in my life. One passed away, the other two were christmas presents after the first one passed. they’re the sweetest things in the world i wouldn’t want any other cat breed. they’re GORGEOUS, HUGE, and have the best personalities!!

@@trevino73 Yeah i’d say they shed a pretty good amount. You have to brush them frequently or they get matt’s in their fur, because they have i think 2 or 3 layers of fur so it gets matted up a lot. and i don’t know about dogs because i have no dogs but they are very good with my other cat we had before them, and very friendly with each other so im sure they’d be pretty good with other pets :)

I had a MC mix...he mostly "chirped" when he wanted to announce his presence, greet me as I came home, wake me up at dawn, etc. He loved lying across my shoulders - he'd do it for an hour at a time. He got cancer and died at age 13. I miss my shoulder kitty.

My husband has this way of finding the perfect cat rescues. (We used to rescue cats in Mexico when we lived there). He took in a Maine Coone kitten when someone was gonna dump him, with out knowing it's breed. My mom has 2 so I was like Maine Coone! We kept him and a deaf white cat and 1 that looked like a werewolf kitten but she was just very sick (the mites were terrible). their such precious babes.

She highly intellectual a Maine Coons is highly playful into adulthood affection likes water(bath) affectionate natural hunters gets along with babies children other cats dogs plus elderly elderly! I once made an obstacle course in my room Oreo did exactly what I had done without any training! Side note a Maine Coon cat could be taught to walk with a leash! I had a wonderful Main Coon. He lived until he was 15 years old. I one time had an accident at home. I fell hit my head and had to call 911. When the Ambulance came to take me to the Emergency the fire department also came. All the fire fighters and the Para Medics were taking care of me. My cat was walking around them checking everyone out. He jumped onto the gurney and just chilled. I ran onto the Para Medics and they told the Doctors and Nurses how great and big my cat was. They gave him a name The Big rock star. He was very special.

Mine lived to 27, and got hit by a car last year. He'd been very healthy and happy right up until the last few weeks when he suddenly got very "old" and frail... we genuinely think he may have done it intentionally as he lived by that busy road for years and never went anywhere near it (as mad as that sounds). They're the best breed though!

Very very calm cats. I had one named Pepin when I was growing up, he let me hold him with one arm carrying him like a stuffed animal under his arms 😂 He was the size of me mind you, he was the best cat I’ve ever had. My grandmother has always has a ton of animals and when she was visiting she brought a cat she didn’t think would give birth just yet… And it did give birth.. lol, that’s how we got him, fresh kitten!

I had a half-Maine Coon, Wolfgang. He had ear tufts, polydactyly & a floofy tail, but was only 13lbs. He was extremely sweet, an ace hunter, a lovely brother to other cats. He was also a catnip addict. He was a silver torbie. An incredibly boy and an amazing relationship.

My aunt had a bull mastiff in the early 2000s and for a friend she brought him home a four week old Maine Coon she named Jack. For the next eight years, they were inseparable. Any time she would take Buddy(dog) out for a walk, Jack would follow, he passed away last year unfortunately but was a beloved member of the family for well over a decade.

Main coons are so expensive and the males usually are the biggest, I have a female who is 14 years, she's the loudest purrer she learned to climb my bunk bed 😂 and we got her for free 14 years ago her name is angel and I wouldn't change her for the world

Mine was a stray that someone tossed out in the apt complex I lived in years ago. I kept hearing a cat crying over the summer but could never see it until one day he was on the stoop across the parking lot from me, I called and he came running and I fed him. A few days later a woman came up, she seemed nice & we talked, but she denied knowing who he belonged to and said it looked like he was mine now. Over the next few days I realized her husband was quite a mean person, so I figured the cat was hers but the husband got rid of it and she’d been feeding him on the sly. So I took him in and to the vets for shots & a check-up. My other cat accepted him right off and were buddies until my older, original cat died a few years later. My Main Coon grieved for months, looking for his buddy but finally accepted/forgot him. Now I’m his center/mom. He has certain purrs for specific wants, if he’s hungry his purr is LOUD and obnoxious, if he wants to snuggle then not as loud and full of little purr/chirps. 🥰 He’s such a sweetie. If I change rooms he follows, even if he’s sleeping he’ll get up. If I go outside even for a minute, he needs to be greeted upon my return. 😂 Wish I could clone him.

@@lihtan Understand you. I read a book called My Cat Saved My Life by P Schreibman that helped me with the lingering grief. Loss of the connection with an animal is not commonly recognized as big a deal as it is. But it is.

Exactly my thoughts about these awesome creatures. I have 2, a mommy and her son. Mommy's kinda petite for being a main coone while her son is humongous... They learn fast and are so loyal to their parents 😻😽

That's interesting, my Phoenix (mom cat) was very petite and she had one son and he was HUGE. She loved him. So did your mommy cat just have the one son? I'm just wondering if that's a common thing for Maine Coons to have one kitten.

@@aleaboon Mommy had 5 very, very tiny kittens. Among the baby's were, ready for this? A grey tabby with a beautiful marking around her mouth. Crazy to say the least. Had me confused cause I wasn't sure what we had. I kept my boy cause from very little he had serious attitude and character. He walked like a thug. I swear he did and that's what got me wrapped around his lil being 😂 Mommy was long, perky ears and very beautiful. After the babies she shrunk. She gained weight but remain a beautiful main coone with the gorgeous big tail. 😹 Can't begin to share how beautiful my boy is. Just spectacular!!! 😻

I had two main coons myself, one of them totally like described, but the other one was really dorky and living in her own world (espacially ever since the first cat died), she wasn't affectionate and scared easily when one would do something loud or all of a sudden. But the older she got and the more she liked our presence, cuddle and just hang out with family members. I also notined main coons behave a bit like a dog, like they would follow me just to be there
