I am a fundamental Baptist and after a few months of studying, comparing scripture with scripture and do my best to rightly divide the Word of Truth , I had to I was forced by weight and totality of scriptural evidence I came to that exact conclusion that faith and works/charity/love are inseparable and must have each other. Charity which is a command is not our work but a fruit of the Holy Spirit making it a work of God and not our work….nowhere to boast on our end. Obedience or the work of love/charity to God and to our neighbor is essential and I haven’t found a way around it. There is so much more God Bless u folks.

We have been saved by grace through faith, and not of works. No man has any cause for boasting. We are not saved by good works, but we are in fact saved to good works. We are created in Christ Jesus to good works, works that were ordained beforehand for us to walk in. As foreordained works, this means that they necessarily follow salvation by grace. And, as such, there is no inconsistency when God uses them as an infallible indicator that salvation by grace has in fact occurred. We are to work out our salvation, but this is only possible as we are working out what God is working in. And so it is that we are saved by works the work of Christ on the cross, and the works of the Spirit within us, which works are, from our perspective, entirely and utterly gracious.

The Bible says that you should test yourself to see if you are in the faith and "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Have you been born again? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit, seated in the heavenlies with Christ? Does the Holy Spirit bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God (Romans 8.16)? Referring to the Holy Spirit, Jesus said, "Whoever believes in Me shall have rivers of living water bubbling up inside of them (John 7.38). Conversely, if you do not have those rivers of living water, then you are not a Christian. Just as my evil friends growing up encouraged me into greater and greater evil, now I know Christ. He is my friend and He leads me into greater holiness. I am not on the 'treadmill' of works. In fact, the way that person bears fruit is counter-intuitive (as is the rest of the Bible): a person who is in the presence of God, resting, enjoying fellowship God, such a person will bear much fruit. You produce by resting in Christ. I hope that this is helpful. I encourage you to check everything I written with prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead you into all the truth. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Christ died on a Cross so that we may have access to the 'Holy of Holies.' Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” - Romans 3:28 KJV Faith alone in Jesus’ blood atonement on the cross = salvation (Romans 3:25 KJV). Faith in Jesus PLUS any of your good works (baptism, religion, church, charity, etc.) = Hell (because you are trusting in a man instead of God). The Bible is very clear that faith in Christ alone justifies you before God (Galatians 2:16 KJV). Good works might justify you before your fellow man (James 2), but God sees the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Please don’t trust in anything for salvation besides Jesus Christ alone! “It is finished” were the very last words of Jesus before his death on the cross. You cannot add to what he has already accomplished. To try to do so with your own efforts is a terrible insult to God and will wind you up in Hell for trusting in yourself. You cannot “earn” Heaven, it is a free gift to be received by faith alone. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:23 KJV

Faith in Jesus Christ alone is the only thing that can justify you before Almighty God. The Lord Jesus lived the perfect life that you and I did not. Jesus died for all your sins, he was buried and he rose again the 3rd day according to the Scriptures. To even try to add your own good works, religion, or church sacraments to the finished work of Jesus is an insult to God. To add your works in an attempt to justify yourself before God is to reject Jesus Christ and his once-for-all sacrifice for you. Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and be saved! Religion, church, and sacraments cannot and will not save you. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." - John 1:12 KJV Trust Jesus Christ ALONE!

Dear brother Keith, Passion is infectious. Never under any circumstances lose your passion for God's Word or His truth. I've been accused of the very same things. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I'm passionate especially about these topics. Briefly, I grew up Catholic. I rejected it at 13 when I discovered girls and Rockn' Roll. At 25, I had a "born again" experience where I "became saved". I then studied Greek and Latin and the Bible ferociously. I attended Brethren Churches, Reformed Baptist and Reformed Presbyterian Churches. Then I became what many were calling an Apostate in 2006. I was agnostic. I struggled with matters of Faith emensely due to some critical scholars such as Bart Ehrman and because I felt many protestant friends were not being honest with many of the texts you cite in this video. I left the faith in January 2006. For 16 years I was living in complete disobedience to the gospel. I endured losing someone close to suicide, loss of business, incured enormous debt, lost my marriage, became addicted to sex and alcohol, was beaten and robbed. I became desperate. During all this time, I was always talking to my philosopher friend about life and death. I was always worried about when my time would come. This past March at the age of 52 the Lord performed a miracle in my life. He took away my desire for fornication. When my ex girlfriend left me for the last time out of demonic and morbid jealousy, I recommitted myself to Jesus Christ as Lord. Over the last few weeks, I've been drawn back home to Catholicism through Trent Horn's podcast and others. I am well educated in Greek and Latin, theology and Early Christianity. I support your apologetic efforts on this channel. We all need to stand for God's truth and His one true and Holy Catholic Church. May the Lord bless your ministry brother. Blessings in Christ, Kevin

Just as 1 Cor 3:10-15 points out that the believer is to do something with their lives so that they have something to show for what they did building on the foundation of Christ. Forget about the majority. The Church called Catholic is guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth. The truth of the Reformers is the truth of men guided by mere men. @@Ryan_Zell The giving of the Holy Spirit is what salvation is. it is the restoration of the sprit of God that was lost in Adam to all that would believe by faith.( Romans 5:5 )We have been justified by His blood that destroyed all our sins at the cross through forgiveness which then allows us to be saved by receiving the restoration of the life of the resurrected Christ in us( Romans 5:10).This restored spiritual life of God given to us can never depart from us because there is now no sin that would cause it to depart like it did in Adam because all sin was destroyed by Christ Jesus on the cross ( Colossians 2:13-14 ) It is His death that destroyed sin once and for all but it is His resurrected life that now lives in us that will never depart from us. @BEREAN GIRL The ancient Catholic faith affirms each and every verse you just quote. One word of advice, if you believe in the ancient heresy of Faith Alone, you have been severed from Christ. James was tasked with correcting this false believe which leads to a Dead Faith, just as Paul was tasked with correcting the believe that circumcision is a heresy and severs one from Christ. No Jew, including Jesus and the Apostles could believe in a faith alone or a faith by itself. That would be foreign to their ears. Imagine having faith in God without loving God. For a Jew that is an impossibility Sorry, but if you believe in the the heresy of Faith Alone, just search the scriptures to find the Biblical Definition of a Dead Faith. Blessings and no need to response any further.

@@Ryan_Zell You are correct. You are following ancient Catholic faith which leads to nowhere. You have dead faith. It is you my friend who have been severed from Christ by your works of the law. (Galatians 5:1-5 ) Circumcision during that time is the same thing as believing that works are needed for salvation today. Just a different method used. Totally wrong. James taught that Mosaic law needed to be followed along with faith for one to be saved although he never mentions anything about salvation in his letter. Faith without works is dead He says and he was correct according to whom he was teaching as he was a bondservant of God and the Lord Jesus to the twelve tribes which were scattered abroad which were Jews and some converted Gentile Procelytes. James wanted nothing to do with the Gentiles but to lead them back to the synagogue to learn about the works of the Mosaic law and nothing about faith in Christ ( Acts 14-21).. Nowhere in his epistle does he ever say how to come to Christ Jesus for salvation. All he does is give warnings and admonitions according to the law. Although he may have been the brother of Jesus and was saved, he still followed Pharisee traditions and laws and may have never ever known that it was faith alone in Christ Jesus for salvation but believed that he needed to follow all the laws and customs to enter the kingdom. God does not want sacrifice but to put our trust and dependency in His Son and what He already did for us on the cross to reconcile us back to Himself through faith in that act only. You need to journey past the crucifixion and understand that it is faith alone in Christ Jesus that saves you and not a bunch of worn out laws and traditions that were meant to be leading us to Christ and not a way to salvation. When one tries to harmonize what Paul and James were teaching that creates a contradiction in scripture. They disagreed and that is ok. Your post deserved one final response. God bless you"..

I just recently started watching these kinds of videos recently after seeing that most Protestant churches have jumped the shark. I have watched a bunch of these videos about faith and works. I think it’s really easy to figure out. If you have been saved and truly have Jesus in your heart you are going to do what’s right. Obviously you are going to goof up but you know when you do and you try to do better and improve yourself. Not sure why this is so difficult.

The problem is people have different Gospels. They have different definitions of faith. They don't agree on or understand what the problem is between God and man that Jesus solves. They don't understand forgiveness. They don't understand the goal of the Christian life. They don't understand the topic of law and grace. Once they agree on these subjects the subject of "faith alone" resolves itself.

Keith, I understand your frustration because I've been there, that is, discussing "faith alone" with Protestants. The argument always ends up running around in circles so I came up with this non-religious example that most people can relate to: Suppose a person wants to fly a 747 really badly so he goes to college and gets a degree. Then he enters the air force and learns to fly fighter planes. Then, after he gets out of the military he goes to more flight schools to learn how to fly a 747. Finally, he gets a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering just to make sure he leaves no stone unturned in his quest to fly a 747. QUESTION: Does all this effort earn him the right to fly a 747? The answer is no. The best you can say is that all that effort QUALIFIED him to fly a 747, but did not earn him the right. He can't just show up at an airport and jump into a 747 and say he earned the right to fly it. Why? Because someone else owns that 747 and they have to give him permission. Likewise, all the effort in the world cannot and will not earn anyone the right to eternal life. Why? Because God owns eternal life and you have to get his permission. And Jesus alone is the ultimate judge who gets to decide who QUALIFIES for eternal life and who doesn't. Jesus has told us in great detail what each person has to do to QUALIFY for eternal life, but he also says not everyone who thinks they qualify will be accepted. In Matthew 7 : 21 Jesus says this: "“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father..." Cleary he is telling us here that just believing in him will not guarantee anyone a place in heaven, you also have to qualify, and the way to qualify is by following his commandments. Another place Jesus elaborates on a person's need to QUALIFY for salvation is in Matthew 22, "The Parable of the Wedding Banquet:" Jesus says: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come... Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless. Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are invited, but few are chosen.” Notice that "few are chosen." According to Jesus's own words, just showing up at heaven's gate because you "Believe in Jesus" is not enough to get you chosen. In this parable, the term "wedding garment" is a metaphor for "holiness" which everyone must possess in order to get into heaven. You don't get holiness just by saying "I believe in Jesus," especially if you then go off and not follow his commandments.

@@jpgolda1900 : Doing goods works may or may not get you into heaven. But just saying "I believe in Jesus" without any good works will absolutely not get you into heaven. You are placing your entire justification of "Faith Alone" on the words of one mortal man, Paul. That was his opinion. The only person who has any authority to talk about salvation and eternal life is Jesus. Nothing Paul says matters because he is human and fallible. Some of the things he wrote in his letters to the Galatians were his opinion. Some were a revelation directly from Jesus Christ, but some were his own interpretation of the Holy Gospel. I wouldn't recommend placing your future fate in a letter that one man wrote to the Galatians for the following reason; it wasn't even directed to you, only to the Galatians. I ask you this: Do you have faith that the words of Jesus are true?" If you do, then follow only Jesus's words, not some person's words who has no authority to grant eternal life. Suppose a rich man approached you and said, "I will give you a gift of $1 million if you show yourself worthy of receiving it." He goes on to say, "You must not cheat, steal, or lie for 1 year. If you complete the test, I will then give you the $1 million. But if there is any evidence you actually did cheat, steal, or lie, I will withdraw the gift and you will not get it." QUESTION: Since you were required to refrain from cheating, stealing, or lying, is the $1 million a gift or did you "earn" it?

The English word "BELIEVE" (verb) in the Spiritual context and meaning is like a Collective Noun (ex. Family, Company, Choir, Herd, etc.) which comes with 3 Components for the Salvation of Mankind, "By GRACE of God through FAITH in Christ Jesus that manifests in good/righteous WORKS." Therefore, in conclusion, the Spiritual Formula/Equation for Mankind Salvation is... [ GRACE (+) FAITH (x) WORK (=) SALVATION ]... (ref. John 3:15 / 3:36 / 11:25-26 /James 2:1-24 )... While St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians and Romans (ref. Eph. 2:8-9 / Rom. 3:20) means that "Personal WORKS (Efforts) ALONE" and "WORKS of the LAW" can not SAVE us... But for our Personal "WORKS" (efforts) to be accepted as Righteous in the Eyes/Sight of God... "WORK" must come first with "GRACE" of/from/by God through "FAITH" in Christ Jesus... That is the ORDER of SALVATION (Grace, Faith, and Work) for Father God/YHWH is a "God of ORDER" and not of Chaos or Confusion... (ref. 1 Corin. 14:33)... Facts and Truth, Biblically and Logically speaking... Praise be to God in Christ Jesus... Amen.

We agree that we should do good works out of love, not fear, but we don't agree on the "got saved" as a one-time instant that you can't lose. A gift is free, but it's also pointless if you ignore it.

Keith, Thanks for your commentary. I like a lot of what you said. As a Lutheran (AKA junior varsity catholic LOL), there was more than just sola fide to what Martin Luther confessed. Luther also confessed Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone) where the Bible reminds us in Romans 6 "What then? Shall we continue to sin and grace be multiplied? By no means!...We uphold the law!" Way more than faith alone. Works are a by-product of our faith. The way we (Lutherans) look at it is that Keith doesn't do good works out of requirement, Keith does works because he can't help it. Its a living faith. Kind of like your passion, you can't help it. LOL Don't Forget Sola Gratia (Grace Alone). Salvation comes from Him. Nothing we do, we constantly sin (at least I know I do), and constantly need forgiveness and God "renewing a right spirit within me". Paul himself confessed to be the "Chief of Sinners". Lastly, Solas Christos (Christ Alone). It's His work on the cross that wins over sin and the Devil. Some people are arguing that "Hold on, that's a lot of solas". But it's not. Through the Word, we learn of the Holy Trinity and salvation by grace through faith. God perfectly intertwines it all together. I apologize for the length of this comment, but I felt some things were missing regarding the Reformation section Keith discussed. I am not proclaiming to be right and Keith wrong, but merely proclaiming what I as a Lutheran belief and confess.

It is written in the Bible that you should test yourself to see if you are in the faith and "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Have you been born again? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit, seated in the heavenlies with Christ? Does the Holy Spirit bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God (Romans 8.16)? He is my friend and He leads me into greater holiness. I am not on the 'treadmill' of works. James 1:1-12 "Greetings. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation-since they will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."

The problem with faith alone is that Protestants define faith wrongly. Faith means you believe what Jesus said, and Jesus said you must consume his body and blood, must be baptized, and must turn away from mortal sin. So in a sense faith alone is true from a Catholic standpoint, Protestants just catastrophically misdefine faith as simply mental consent.

Yes, that's it. You have to have faith is something. Faith is not a commodity like flour. You can't ask for a pound of faith. You can only have faith in a concept, like in the words of Jesus, and faith that following his words are the only thing that can bring salvation.
@Electric_
@Electric_ Жыл бұрын
@@jpgolda1900 it’s weird to think that a free baptism, free Eucharist every Sunday and the $0 cost of turning away from mortal sin is not a free gift. Consider what the Catechism says about Merit: 2007 “With regard to God, there is no strict right to any merit on the part of man. Between God and us there is an immeasurable inequality, for we have received everything from him, our Creator. 2008 The merit of man before God in the Christian life arises from the fact that God has freely chosen to associate man with the work of his grace.” If you’re going to freely associate with Christ, you’re going to have to do the works He demands. You must pick up your cross. You must be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. You must drink His blood and eat His flesh. You must repent and abstain from mortal sin, which is sin severe enough that it is effectively a renunciation of Christ (such as adultery, murder, theft, homosexuality, or breaking one of the 10 Commandments not mentioned). Act 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. John 6:54-56: 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. Hebrews 10:26: For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. 2 Peter 2:20-22: For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

@@barbwire7449 no, the Bible clearly and unequivocally states that it is literally the body and blood of Christ, and since Protestants don’t believe that they do not truly have any Communion. So Protestants only have 50% of the puzzle, which is why they have over 42,000 denominations, internal strife, and a myriad of grave heresies. John 6:52-55. You are like the Jews of John 6:52.

I love your zeal Keith. In my thinking, I believe our Protestants and, perhaps, many Catholics, view ownership of works wrong. Ephesians 2:10 makes it clear all works originate from and belong to God. Our responsibility is to cooperate, by grace, with those works God has already prepared. I think our Protestant brethren resist works thinking the works are theirs and, therefore, they are working their way to heaven. I say no, the works belong to God and He is calling us to simply walk in them. That means love God and neighbor. Love expresses itself in good deeds. Faith alone can't give a thirsty person a drink. It takes action which is a work. Even when we get crowned for our works, as Augustine wrote, it will God crowning His own gifts. It all belongs to God but we, with our freewill, are called to cooperate. God bless to all.

Once saved, you're always saved. God does not retract his gifts or promises. God does not change. Yes, true faith produces good works. But one cannot earn that faith by their work, it is given as a gift from God just as salvation is. Unbelievers are capable of good deeds, but it is only with saving faith granted by God that believers know for who and why they work and that it isn't for themselves or because they believe it is possible to earn their salvation or pay off their debt of sin. It is because they recognize their wretchedness in sin, and are grateful for God's mercy and self-sacrifice to pay for our sins through Jesus. A born again Christian's knowledge of this and love towards God is reflected in their work for Him.

Thank you so much Keith for this video! I have searched and studied the scriptures for 18 years and I also reject faith alone! Your video is a breath of fresh air to me! Although I am not Catholic nor am I any denomination, I fully agree with your Biblical truths here. I don't even go to church anymore which is not good I know but it is because I cannot find a church that agrees with the Bible concerning especially the way of salvation. I am not going to write a long sermon discourse here ( especially since I am a woman and should not preach or teach to a man) but the Lord has shown me a few things in my 18 years of intense study of the Bible. It is NOT faith alone. You are correct. Here is what God has shown me 1) Repentance 2)Faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and His Finished work on the cross ( including forgiveness of sins) 3)water baptism (yes water baptism IS essential for salvation many scriptures to back this up) 4) Regeneration of the Holy Spirit. We must ask for the Holy Spirit from the Heavenly Father after we are cleansed in the waters of baptism. This foreshadowing is all over the Old Testament and is made reality in the New Testament. I don't get what's so hard for this guy. By faith we receive salvation and the Spirit is given for sanctification in our walk with God. Apart from faith, no one receive the Holy Spirit to walk with God or please Him. We are not going to stand before God and hear Him say, NOW you are saved. It was done by Him at the moment we transferred our faith from ourselves to His Son. It was a free gift given by Him in our unrighteousness when we didn't deserve it. You don't have to do religious things for a number of years before you are "saved."

Hey Keith, I have another question for you. I've seen lots of videos from other Catholics about Mary being a Virgin beyond Christ's birth. I find this one bizarre because in Matrhew it says that "Joseph had no union with her UNTIL she gave birth to a son.." it seems implied that after Christ was born they then were able to consumate their marriage. Later we are told of his mother and brothers coming to speak with him in both Matthew and Mark... if she remained a Virgin then whose children were these? Again when Jesus is rejected in his home town the people list the names of his brothers and even mention his sisters. Why is it important for Catholics to believe that she remained a Virgin throughout her life? And how can we call Joseph her husband if there was never a union between them to consumate their marriage? I'm really confused by this and would really love an answer 😊

Of even more oddity would be that in the 1st Century, Jews considered Genesis 1:28 to be a command from GOD and honored it as such. OR that Paul in 1 Cor 7:3, 5 instructs married couples to NOT withhold physical intimacy excepting for a time to devote themselves to prayer. The only way to read around the verses regarding Christ's brothers and sisters is to reinterpret the passage relating to Jesus's brothers and sisters to instead mean "cousins", implying that there is no other way to discern a cousin from a brother or sister, even though we are able to rightly discern that Elizabeth was indeed Mary's "cousin". but I digress. Mariology requires that she not only remain a virgin, some even at one time went so far as to claim that she physically remained one post-partum, a claim that they since have backed away from, BUT to even claim that she herself was immaculately conceived (no scriptural basis NT OR OT) and kind of makes Jesus's birth a bit less spectacular, AND also that she was assumed into heaven. 1 Tim 4 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

The catholic church does not teach justification by faith plus works. We believe in justification in faith alone. The difference is we believe in justification by faith formed by charity and protestants believe in fiduciary faith. We believe in justification by faith that has the ontological change of having love( charity) infused into our hearts. Protestants believe in a justification by faith where the righteousness remains external to the believer( extra nos). This video did more harm than good to the catholic understanding of justification.

James 2:14 So if a brother or sister is naked and daily in need of food, James 2:15 and if anyone of you were to say to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and nourished,” and yet not give them the things that are necessary for the body, of what benefit is this? James 2:16 Thus even faith, if it does not have works, is dead, in and of itself. James 2:17 Now someone may say: “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works! My take is fairly simple: Jesus paid for our sins. 100%. That is clearly biblical. Otherwise how could the thief on the cross be saved? Works is a result of a changed heart. Look at the parable of the sheep and the goats. That is huge. At the end of the day, God wants transformed people. These concepts can be a bit like predestination and free choice. They are hard to verbalize so we get these arguments that go on forever. But sometimes it's just best to hold the ideas in tension and go on with our lives. In the words of Keith Green. "Do your best and pray that it's blessed and He'll take care of the rest".

The church teachings did not line up with the BIBLE teachings on so many doctrines. I left the church over the 30 years ago and have been free from the false teachings of the Catholic church, But I'm not saying that Catholic people are not saved I'm just saying I'm free from the bondage surrounding salvation in regards to works and the fate of facing purgatory for the cleansing of my sins that Jesus paid in full already. Once I believed and trusted on him and repented (A change of mind from unbelief to belief) I was sealed with the Holy Spirit justified and made righteous in God's sight. Amen. Yeah this video was counterproductive. You started the video by saying "Im not talking about santification im just talking about justification" then proceeded to make your first point about how protestants will say "you're justified by faith alone but must prove their faith by works....." thats santification not justification, which defeats your first point??? Justified by faith sanctified because your faith produces works 😅 thats the whole point. Your second point.... AGAIN is about sanctification... james 2:24 the term justification look it up in this verse it means "to prove one to be" this is not justification "to move one from a state of sin to eternal righteousness". These verses simply are saying how can another christian know weather or not to accept you into their home? Have fellowship with you? They will know you by your fruit. This is a how people will know because just saying your saved 1 john isnt enough its about being fully convinced. The point that devils believe and stremble is to show you its not about a verbal profession of faith its ACTUAL faith. Read 1 john, you cant know whether someone is truely a believer or not by word alone.... Work out your own salvation.... again self deafeating with your first statement, thats again talking about santification not justification. There are types of salvation. Justification by grace through faith alone. Sanctification, while we are on this earth our faith will produce works. And glorification, one day we will be like him in heaven.. 1. I am saved. 2. Im being saved. 3. I will be saved. Eph says "we are saved by grace through faith NOT OF WORKS lest any man boast... Your third point AGAIN, your talking about sanctification, not justification... Your final points a contradoction, if you have to do anything to be justified THATS WORKS, if you have to do anything to maintain your justification, THATS WORKS. Thats the heart of the misunderstanding, absolutely your works show you are saved, how else will someone know? Faith is not visible, but nothing you do before during or after you have faith justifies you. Faith alone does that. If you have to earn it its a work, if you have to maintain it thats a work. God alone should get the credit for your salvation, if you have to say God saved me but I.... you're taking credit for your salvation and thats boasting.

Basically, Keith's whole argument in the video is based on three assumptions: (1) faith alone believers have a license to sin (2) faith alone believers are saved by believing in Jesus, as the devil believes (3) works are moot and unimportant to faith alone believers. Since all three can easily be proven wrong by "Statement of Faith" and charters in faith-alone church, the foundation of his propositions are invalid. If the foundation is false, the conclusion cannot be true. Setup a strawman, then create a bogeyman. Works every time.

I have also heard regarding James 2 that a believer has faith accompanied by works to be profitable to believers and unbelievers. I believe our works reveal to whom we belong. Jesus said “It is finished.” He paid the price for our sin. His blood made atonement. By grace through faith in Jesus are we saved. We do reveal our faith by working out our salvation for all to see through kingdom works. Only what you do for Christ in this life follows you into the heavenly kingdom. It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. galatians 3

True "faith alone" believers do not just believe in Jesus. We believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor 15: 1-4) (Rom 10:9) which is the Gospel and saves us. We believe it is "His" works, not ours, that save us. To believe in Jesus without His works would be a "crossless" salvation. No true "faith alone" believer would dare believe in Jesus and not His cross. Yes, there may be faith alone "individuals" who do not understand the Bible and really believe we have a license to sin. There is not one "faith alone" church in America that believes this, or what Keith claims in this video. Keith, evidently, has never read the "Statement of Faith" for faith alone churches. He is listening to people who think they are"faith alone" believers. And yes, we do believe in works, but we perform works in thanks and honor because Christ took our place on the cross, not works to convince a God who already gave us a free miraculous gift.

what about the thief on the cross next to jesus? the thief didnt have any time left in his life to do any good works but jesus told him he would be with him in paradise because he had faith jesus was lord

You're right he didn't have any time to do any works. But in the end he believed in Jesus. That's always the starting point. Jesus saved him. I don't know why people try to use this as an argument. Catholics believe in faith. But you cant have faith and then continue sinning and sinning. Praise God the Catholic church has confessions too. catholic gospel in a nutshell Acts 16:31 believe in the lord jesus christ and you will be saved.

@@whaterfoo well i think all of us are going to continue to sin even after we are saved up until the day we die. thats our human nature. the video seems to say that its not enough to get into heaven on faith alone which doesnt align with the story of the thief on the cross. good works doesnt necessarily mean a lack of sin . they are different

It is the thief and the story of the snakes in the OT, where if bitten all they needed to do was look at the bronze snake and they were saved or healed that makes me think of faith alone and looking to Jesus to be saved. just thinking, was the thief a gentile or Jewish?

The expression of "faith alone" is only found in James 2:24 in the form of "not by faith alone". No where else can you find "faith alone". An analogy would be, you need gas every time you drive to city B but gas alone won't get you there.

I believe in faith alone for salvation. But I don't believe in "faith in faith alone", as you put it. Romans 4:1 clears up the passage you read in James. There are two justifications: faith alone justifies before God and faith plus works justifies before men. "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father who is in heaven" Matthew 5. Works produce profit for others and rewards which are earned, faith in Christ's finished work results in salvation which we could never earn. And on the Day all of us will be judged accdg to everything we've done. It's the foundation we've built on that matters. 1 Corinthians 3. God looks at the heart.
