I love it when Pat talks about special teams play, you get such good insight and it's something really lacking in the media coverage of football, special teams is a third of the game and very important but very few ex-players on tv have much if any experience in the special teams room so it doesn't really get much coverage and when it does it's usaully negative.

Pat was smart enough to know that he was one more injury away from being replaced. Plus, the current state of the NFL isn’t great either, basically a toxic waste dump. Pat McAfee is a huge personality and extremely witty, TV networks usually want to put their employees on a leash. Even sports shows are scripted and they want you to stick with certain narratives, they knew McAfee would be difficult to contain hence the refusal to sign him. He did an excellent job into venturing out onto his own platform. His podcast is amazing. His weekly interviews with Aaron Rodgers are my highlights of week.

The newness of it all got me. The NFL has such bizarre rules like down by contact is legal but leading with the helmet isn't. Neither is safe, but one is perfectly acceptable.
