I was married for over 30 years to my wife from South Korea. We lived in the UK for over 22 years and raised two daughters. So why have I ended up living alone in Bangkok at 62? This upload explains all.

Very nice video Peter. I moved to Krabi in December 2007, when I was 51 1/2 years old. No income from Denmark for more than 15 years. I worked hard in Denmark with a lot of overtime. Sold everything I had in Denmark. Moved to Krabi with my wife with a good bank account. Bough a oilpalmplantation , new house, new car and was able to pay cash because my wife could pay 50% of everything. Now I am almost 67 and will get a pension from Denmark in 2 month. May wife is 47. Educated on university in Phuket in Community Development and business Hotel. Now she has been a Government Official for almost 6 years with a good income. I met her when she was a hotel manager in 2003. She is from a wealthy family who owns a lot of oilpalmplantations. 7 out of 8 children have been to university. They all have much more money than me, so never ask for money. My best advice to foreigners here is to stay far away from bargirls unless you want to be a sponsor 🏧 for her and her poor family in Issan. My wife lived 3 1/2 years in Denmark. Left her good job and her family, for me. It will normally take a long time to find a decent well educated women with a good job, but it's worth it.

I liked listening to your story, I'm 36 now and one of the things I do not regret and never will is not having kids, my freedom is important to me and I cherish it daily, would not imagine getting involved in all that family drama I hear from everyone, not for me.

Your life is very similar to mine. I've been here in Thailand for more than 20 years now. Left the U.S. to find a teaching job in Japan. Didn't have luck there, so I moved to Seoul, S. Korea. Worked there for two years, had a vacation in Thailand. Fell in love with Thailand and moved over here. Went back to the U.S. in 2015 after living here for about 15 years, stayed for 3 years in the U.S. and hated every minute of it, so I came back to this wonderful place.

Rent in Hua Hin, Thailand for a basic one bed condo for a month's stay 6000 baht (£150) - includes a swimming pool. Eat local foods at local eateries. Around 80 Baht (£2) per meal. Tins of lager 50 Baht each (£1.10). "If you cannot afford" this then stay where you are.

@@stevenhull5025 This is not about me personally, if you want to know about me, I actually spend in one 2 weeks millionaire trip, what some expats live off as a yearly budget. However, I have personally seen, and we all heard off, that one person that attempts to retire and live in Thailand on a thousand or less USD, that's called barely existing budget, and would be adventurers need to hear some truth and heed Peter's advices in this Vlog.

I’ve been to Thai six times in the last year and a half. I also plan on moving there. The traffic is hell so I just get a scooter taxi or a car taxi for long drives it’s very cheap and hassle free. Definitely won’t drive in Bangkok. I’m from the USA but I fell more free in Thailand 🇹🇭. And the women are the most beautiful in the world in my opinion. But if you are looking for a long term girlfriend don’t get one at a bar or tourist area they will burn you. Find one with a regular job. I got one that works for the government in the highway department she is the most loving person I have ever met

Hi Peter, this is probably your best video yet in my opinion, very interesting and informative. I wouldn't worry about going on too much, I'm sure many viewers like all the detail and a longer video like this is better, I put it on in the background whilst I get on with some computer work! You're very honest with both us and yourself, admit your flaws and as somebody a 25 years younger is invaluable knowledge to take on board to make the right choices especially as somebody who definitely wants to live in Thailand some time!

I'm one of those guys that pointed at the map and came here... Hahaha. I've been living here almost 2 years. I lived in Jomtien, Bangkok, and Phuket and I mostly loved the easy access to excellent small western restaurants in the Pattaya area. Cheaper cost of living opposed to Bangkok and I happen to drink very little which accounts for most of the money spent here it seems that and women. Thanks for sharing and I'm happy you recovered and are happy from the 30 year marriage. Best of luck and enjoy your new life...

What a great upload, Peter. Really enjoyed it! Thank you. I have been going to Thailand since 1996 and for about 22 years on. I got very bored at the end. I am a handyman, and I need to 'fix' stuff. I realised that living in a guest house or hotel did nothing for me to 'do'. I really missed my projects. I am into RC flying. But bringing a RC aircraft is not an option. I am into all kinds of building whatever from scratch. And I would love to show thai people. But I can't bring all my 'crap'. 55555. So I am in Denmark. But not happy. I am like you. I have been away for to long. Friends are gone, and I don't mind. But bottom line is that I miss Thailand, and Asia. I just need something to keep me busy if I go there again. It's not enough to hang in bars and bang chicks, not in the long run anyway. Excellent upload!

Well well buddy, so glad I had the opportunity to know you and do a You Tube video with you. I knew your heart wasn't happy here in the UK and you mentioned many times during our filming of Grafton the life you had overseas. I am so pleased you have found your happiness again and like you, I know what it is like with separation with wife and kids. Anyway, good to know your still good friends. I wish you well and every bit of happiness that comes your way. You definately know where I am so if you need any favours buddy, you know how to contact me. All the best and keep those videos coming. 😉👍

Hey Peter Great video. I made a HUGE MISTAKE I came into Thailand on January 3, 2023 on a 45 day visa. I extended it for 30 days then I did 2 boarder runs to Cambodia. Then I flew out to Malaysia. Came back expecting a 30 day visa stamp and was rejected and deported. My intention was to get a 15 month retirement visa but my mistake was taking advice from an agency that was wrong. If you max out your extentions and boarder runs, thai immigration frowns on that. Imagine this, I just brought a back pack with me to Malaysia leaving all of the rest of my stuff at my Hostel in Jomtien. So I'm currently stuck in Malaysia and have no answer as to when I can return to Thailand. Please share with your subscribers that DO NOT ENTER AND EXIT THAILAND MORE THAN 3 TIMES because you will be DEPORTED. I didn't overstay, I was allowed 180 days on a tourist visa but what the agency failed to tell me was that if you re-enter more than 3 times, you will get deported and they do not tell you when you can come back

Hi Peter I flew to Laos (Thai Embassy)from Malaysia and was granted a 60 days Tourist visa. I'm back in Thailand and this time I'm going for a retirement visa straight away Thanks for reading my story. I certainly hope this doesn't happen to anyone who doesn't deserve that. It is embarrassing and humiliating. Almost made me feel like some sort of criminal.
