Nice video, I was 1st introduced to a trike thru my brother, I was hard core roadie and couldn't figure out why he didn't but a " normal bike " my brother passed away and I ended up with his Cattrike speed , the frame was broken but I wanted to honor my brother and got it welded at the local college, I was hooked right away . The Catrike Speed eventually broke again, and I shelved it for 7 years and in the mean time my sister buys a Sidewinder trike , rear wheel steering. She needed a tune up and when I rode it all the fun came flooding back , I had to have another trike , I found another catrike this time a non suspended Road . And then shortly after a Performer trike for my GF . I really enjoy your narrative and the way you explain the fun and general experience. Keep them coming , Love to see you get popular and make some money on the videos they have a professional feel . Great job 👏

I bought my first trike, a Trident Spike 2, about four years ago due to back issues. Was hooked. I now ride a Catrike 559 with e-assist added. Spousal unit rides a Hase Trigo Up also with e-assist. Trikes are great.
@bikestrikesrazors3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you two are set! That 559 is pretty slick! I've wanted to try a Delta like the Trigo, but haven't had a chance to yet.
@garyseckel2952 жыл бұрын
Hase Trigo can be both under seat steering and over seat steering. E-assist can be added POST purchase, as well as 2WD. Point being Hase' easiest to never be outgrown, or rather easiest to grow older with. Even wheelchair side-saddle on/off for future aging! Three Lepus' here (2 Rohloffs, and an 8-speed Shimano gearbox). No affiliation. This, from earlier single-track recumbents and tadpoles. HUGE luggage capabilities AND streamlined rain fairing and poncho. A Hase with Rohloff or Envioleo(sp?) hub is the trike from Heaven!

I have an ICE Full Fat with Bafang 1000W e-assist and Rohloff hub on order. Its coming in in May and the waiting is painful!. I went with the e-assist and gearing to help me deal with the ups and downs of the Feather River Canyon where we live and the Fat setup is made for the fire roads and USFS trails. Being mobility challenged with balance issues makes two wheels a no-go. Started riding in the early 60's with a Peugeot 10 speed, aluminum framed roadie. That bike was my fun ride for 40 years. My current situation makes a trike a perfect choice and since I was into it I went whole hog on tricking it out. Its going to be my Ferrari.
@bikestrikesrazors3 жыл бұрын
You're gonna love that Full Fat, Edward! I always wanted one of those Peugeot PX-10's with the black and white paint scheme! Good luck with the wait for the trike. I know first hand that that can be nasty. )

You touched every base on this home run of a video! Great effort! We all experienced essentially the same exact progression until arriving at the trike conclusion. Btw...the music and narration were perfect. Like you...I had a cheap road bike then a high quality road bike then a two wheel long base recumbent as I ventured into the recumbent universe and finally...several recumbent Catrikes. I have met so many great people as they stop and inquire into what the trike is. Been home in New England for 5 days and actually rode in 17 F degrees several times. Flying back to Florida this afternoon to keep riding and playing golf. Thanks for the wonderful video effort.

Hey Mark! Yep, I'm guessing we're on a well worn path towards "trikedom". :) You're a better man than I. At 17 F I'd be in front of a fire somewhere :) The first trike I had was one of the original Catrike Pockets. Man, it was a blast. This was before they widened the track and it was way too small for me, but I wish I still had that trike! Safe travels on your trip back to Florida!

I ride a 559 which I took to Florida and also have a Trail and a long wheel base two wheel recumbent Sun EZ Sport and of course a road hike. I,live in the trikes now. Just use the others occasionally.

I just bought a ICE VTX and will pick it up this coming weekend. I can't wait to go cruising around my neighborhood. Love your videos and they really helped me get started.

Great! If you haven't been riding a trike, remember to give your legs some time to build up your "recumbent muscles". I think you'll really like the VTX. It's a slick trike.

@@bikestrikesrazors Thanks for the advice. Great video!!! I've been an upright rider my whole life and been exploring and researching trikes. The technology is incredible. I've test ridden quite a few. The one that stand out are Ice Sprint and Azub Ti Fly. Of course the more expensive trikes!! It has to have suspension for sure. Gotta save up some coin. Sometimes you see them used but its rare.

I recently discovered your channel and watched and enjoyed your videos. Have you ridden a two or three wheeled recumbent with an electric motor? I ride a Rans Stratus XP with a 1000 watt Bafang motor, and appreciate the assist I get on long rides, as well as getting over low hills with minimal gear changing.

Rich I have a stupid question. I have a mount on the boom which has a loop at the end facing me. I think this is where you can hook up water bottles or a cycle computer but I am not sure. So I wish to ask, how does one hook up a cycle computer to a ICE VTX? A very basic cycle computer.
@bikestrikesrazors3 жыл бұрын
Hey, David! Not a stupid question at all. You should be able to use the ICE mount to hold the computer shown here: amlingscycle.com/products/ice-computer-display-mount I’m not sure of what you’re describing on your trike without being able to see it. If you plan on using a standard computer with a wheel sensor, you’d have to buy the ICE sensor mount as well. A few years back I sprung for the least expensive Garmin GPS unit so if you go with one of those you won’t have to buy the sensor mount (GPS units don’t use mounted sensor). ICE sells little mounting arms also, which is what I attached to my handlebars to mount my Garmin. It’s a pretty tight fit, but it works.

Have you ever tried the Tannus airless tires?
@bikestrikesrazors3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Nope, I haven't tried those. My brother was using another type of airless tire a few years ago and he seemed to like them. The technology is getting better all the time.
@davidgerescher55273 жыл бұрын
@@bikestrikesrazors Rich!! I have been riding on the Tannus Airless 700C x 23mm for about two weeks now around 2 hours a day, all weather. The tire works fantastic. I got the xtra firm because I ride on pretty smooth roads and I like a firm ride. I handles great and I see no wear on them at all. Now for the not so fun part... installing them. I totally recommend getting the special tool from Tannus, not just the one they ship. I used both. My hands are now so strong I can crush steel beams with my bare hands. God, it was so hard to put on. For my front wheels I will do something a bit different, I will let them sit in the hot Texas sun for a few hours to get them softer and more pliable to wrestle on. You should try them. Goat head thorns, go ahead stab my tires, I dare you!!

@@davidgerescher5527 Thanks for the review, David! I'll have to check them out, although that installation doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Good news is if they're that tight, they shouldn't come off on their own. :)
