I ride alone, because other rides are either too fast or too slow. I can set my own pace. The slow, pleasure ride or the fast fun time. Riding also clears my mind. I think too much, "what do I have to buy?" "did I pay the bill?" etc, but it also gets rid of the darker thoughts. Just me, the bike, the road and my head on a swivel. Riding alone also teaches yourself, how to ride your way and not have some berating you for either being to ofast or slow.

I came back to motorcycling after 25 years, discovered that I loved long distance, multi day touring. Fell in with a motorcycle group by accident, went on many group rides, organised many too and enjoyed them all. But after a few years I found the fake testosterone and the endless complaints, tiresome and so am now down to riding a long, long way with a very close friend. He is 73 and I'm 57 and it works for us for the same reasons. We go where want to, stop when we want to and ride only when we want to. No schedules, no distance to be covered per ride day, no nothing. It works for us. 😊

YEP. I was the same way when i use to ride. Never liked large groups anything over five bikes was miserable for me. I wish i had a camera and mic when i rode, it would probally get me thrown in a psych ward. I used to talk to people in cars with out their side of the conversation, to myself, and sing outloud well"try to sing". I always liked the back roads, sometimes i could ride a twenty miles stretch and not see a car nothing but trees. I would pick a direction and go till i got low on fuel, refill and head back home. When i had time it was nothing for me to ride a two hundred mile loop.

Sometimes I’ll be in my back yard, maybe fettling about with one of my bikes or just chillin or whatever and I hear another bike somewhere outside. . . For a moment I think “Yay ! Thanks Michelle, reading my own post back I can see it sounds sad ! But it’s really not, I meet plenty other bikers at various bike stops. Here in UK we are nearly all old geezers now ! As a retired Marine and retired cop I'm shocked to find one of the few other riders that like to "stop and smell the roses". Only recently, my oldest son has started riding with me. It's great fun as we just pick a direction and go, street or dirt, as we both ride ADV bikes. Actually left the pavement and crossed a quarter of the state, (Arkansas), on improved and unimproved dirt roads, deer trails, open fields, streams, etc. It was fun. We had never ridden together but learned to enjoy being with someone else you could trust without reservation. But, like you, I enjoy my "alone" rides and touring. Good channel you have.

I can definitely relate to the appeal of riding alone and have been riding bikes mostly alone now for nearly 50 years. Many of my most cherished trips have been off-road where the solitude is especially poignant but I've also enjoyed solo road trips as well. In fact, I smiled big when I got to the end of this video where you exclaimed "Hey, I recognize this place!". It's such a great example of the kind of riding that goes unnoticed for the very reason it's so gratifying: the ride with no particular destination; the random ride through a neighborhood after dinner or off the main drag just to see what's there. I personally enjoy getting lost on such rides and then seeing if I can find my way back. That's something that's really only fun to do alone.

To much testosterone and talking bike set up( which they were wrong on), but each to there own. I'm the same now mountain biking. Love being on my own, going where I want to go when I want too. It's definitely an introvert thing. In my experience we are the best personalities. Extroverts tend to be all show and no substance, masking insecurities greater than our own. Recording yourself 'Talking while Riding' = Motovlogging. Rest everything is vlogging in general. Solo riding is best - you're at your own pace & peace. Been at it 8 yrs, (with a few tag alongs on the way), best decision made. Group rides only get interesting if (a) small group and (b) everyone in the group is a close friend or equally active(even if stranger) & doesn't form subgroups in middle of a ride, don't do hush-hush talks & or 'broadcast' topics that someone gets left out & doesn't bring out ego to wave around. So (b) is kinda unreal expectations most of the times.

My thoughts on people and why I ride alone are very similar, my fault according to people is I have a limited filter, what they don't realise is I am open and honest with my thoughts. I have been described as blunt, but I always consider others feelings when I speak.... except when they have not considered mine, then they need to brace themselves as I will cut to the crux of what needs to be said, it's pretty liberating and soon pushes the bad ones away and keeps the good ones close.

I went on a Christmas in July toy run sponsored by my county sheriff department. I figured if anything would protect my licence, this would. I was so wrong. Why is it a group rides always seem to boil down to a macho show. I try to keep my speed to 5mph above in a car. On my bike I am more flexible to keep out of cars blind spot or tailgaters, but never 10 over. If you can find a group ride that adheres to that, I might try again. As an aside tilt the camera up. I want to see where you are. Not what you ride.

Your video, Doodle, captures an existential verity; riding solo means you are the boss of every facet. Riding in a group requires us to consider the desires/preferences/short-comings of the others. On another note: I absolutely adore your videos; whatever and however you choose to do them is entirely your call. Count me in a a fan for life..

I agree with your "ride alone" philosophy. When riding with others much of the freedom one feels on a motorcycle is limited by having to adjust to the riding preferences of others. You're fortunate to ride in the Atlanta area. I lived and rode there for 28 years and found that, although Atlanta's traffic is deplorable (main arteries, I-285, I-75, I-86, Ga-400, etc), riding out to the north, east and south, offered a world of lightly traveled, great two lane black topped roads with pleasant surroundings. The videos you do while riding provide a Cook's Tour of some of the good riding areas that are there, and leave me - while riding in Beaufort/Port Royal, South Carolina - feeling envious and nostalgic.

I can totally relate to this video. I enjoy riding alone so I can forget about everything else for a while. And I like the freedom to choose my own route and change it up depending what interests me on the ride. That's why for me I won't play any music while I'm riding. I like to be able to tune in to the whole experience. Now, if I was riding a boring, no traffic stretch for hours, then music might interest me. But in traffic I would think it would be too much of a distraction. One thing I noticed that is cool... It looks like your bike has a right and left turn signal blinker in the tachometer. Very cool. Re: different videos being more or less popular, I wonder if it would help changing around the days you post them? Jess @ Her Two Wheels seems to find it makes a difference. I started riding when I got out of the service and needed that 2 wheel therapy. Riding alone is the way to go. Love your videos, you're beautiful!

I like riding by myself because it allows me to worry less about others. Keeping the group together, not out riding other’s skills or my own, just free riding and the ability to ride how I need to! Stay safe out there and keep the shiny side up!

Don't worry, this video makes all kinds of sense. I think a lot of people feel the same as you. I like hanging out with other people, but I also really like (more like need) time for myself, all alone.

I know exactly what you're saying. I have a group of friends I ride with regularly but there are always frustrations and limitations associated with that. I look forward to solo runs, exploring as I go and then take the guys on new routes I've discovered. Enjoying your content in the UK!

Hey. Doodle. been watching your videos. Really cool. catching up on some of your older ones. Yep riding alone is much better than in a group. Get to stop when you want and for as long or short as you wanted. I have been riding since 2005 with many bikes. But with watching your newer videos and how far you have gone cross country. Good job. Keep up the great work and ride safe out there.

I love riding alone best, too. I stop for gas when I want to-even though I have plenty of gas left. I stop if it feels like something is making a funny noise on my bike-even if I am probably just being weird. I also press on and ride for a longer period of time when a group might want to stop for a beer, which I would have zero interest in. And I love your videos and your process. It reminds me of how I feel about my nieces. I had nothing to do with your successes but I am so proud of you and love to see you're doing what you want. Keep it up, girl!

This video is so great, talking to myself while riding or driving alone is something I do pretty often and it feels so great and liberating. You rock girl! Love your videos!

90% of the time I ride alone. When I ride I usually have an "end" point and I get there by just taking turns at random in the general direction. When riding the focus is just on the roads, surroundigs and no really interesting thoughts. When commuting i have a colleague who also rides and lives about 500m from me. We got to know each other and were like: Oh, you ride too? Want to ride togehter when going to work? I had a group ride once and it was really fun, but is was exhausting at the end of the day. I didn't know the group, the riders and was put in the advanced group. Sometimes I was a little uncomfortable during the ride due to my own limits at the time. Really like your videos. Keep up the work and interesting topics coming.

I no longer ride (wind makes my eyes water too badly now; can't ride safely that way!) but I rode from 1972 to 2013. My bike was our second car and my commuting cum pleasure vehicle. My wife rode with me about as often as I rode with her -- shopping, most out-of-town trips, etc. My longest trip was a round one from Daytona Beach FL to Monroe LA and back. Loved it, especially as I was on a Gold Wing for that one. My most mind-blowing experience was driving a big rig coast to coast and back over nearly 20 days. Climbing down and riding from the truck park to home was like climbing off a ship into a rowboat! Whew!

Entertaining video, I see the calm you get while riding. If I commute to work I have no people in the car with me. Just me and that's how I like it best. Things you talk about, overthinking stuff for example before a big purchase or whatever or just need some alone time to recharge your battery. Yet you still love to be around people, friends and family. That describes me too. That's what being an introvert comes with. But please think of your balance in life with work, KZbin, friends, family. It's so important. :)

Totally relate. I'm an introvert and haven't missed the office AT ALL since working from home starting in March! Have fun on your solo rides.

Doodle-Great video and I do so love the sweet sound of the Triumph. Several others mentioned my only criticism of the low camera angle but otherwise, very well done. As far as solo riding, I'd just ad this...while I agree with you, there is another possibility which is this; riding with another compatible rider can be possibly as good or better than riding alone. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult to find a truly compatible riding partner. That rider needs to like so many things you do including, just to mention a few, the speed you like, how often you like to stop, things of common interest, how often and how far to ride, how your schedule for riding compares, etc. etc. If you're fortunate enough to find this person, riding can be enhanced and there is an added safety factor as well. Also, if you do ride with another person, having a communication device like a Sena or Cardo can add to the experience as well. Of course, in your case, you may be busy talking to the camera! Ride safe!

I really get you regarding the exhaustion, both professionally and privately. I need a door to my office and the option to keep it closed without being frowned upon for some reason. I have tried open work spaces, kinda like with cubicles, but it just pulls my focus and drains me. I’m in a situation right now where I can’t work at all really, but if I could I would require all possible flexibility’s including that door to be shut at my own will if I was able to leave my home for work. I just find that when I’m free I’m at my most. Thanks for the great content and stay safe.

Nice vid & totally agree. I ride for fun but also to be by myself & get some space & piece & quiet away from everyone too. It's an escape & it lets me feel completely free which is the most valuable part of it to me.

Doodle, you make total sense. Don't sweat what other people say. Love the channel. Riding is about freedom. Freedom to go where you want when you want to. #ride When other riders try to constrain you, it stops being fun. I've insisted on riding alone even when others pressure me and even though I'm a new rider. I find riding alone brings me calm and inner peace. Every time I ride alone I end with a smile and an adrenaline rush. Riding with others stresses me out, because I'm worried about their actions and experiences more than I focus on the ride itself. I love people but because I like to enjoy the beauty around me when I ride, other people get annoyed when we ride together. That doesn't mean my experience is anything other than just different from theirs. Riding calms me and takes me away from the stress of my job; no lack of that as an air traffic controller... :p Keep riding free and as long as you gave fun, you're doing it right.

As long as your safe , and comfortable with your ability to talk while riding , I am good with that , I am tickled just watching you grow , learn , and do so well while riding , I hope you inspire someone who desires to do the same . You should be proud of your accomplishments. Thanks for sharing . Ride safe .

one thing you shouldn't do is become a people pleaser because you will focus on them instead of yourself, it is always good to do good for others but not please them. then, you can't please people because nothing will ever please them and you do not want them to change you into what they want you to be and not want to please the wicked society to mold you in there liking. always do your best for yourself and for you only because what you do will make you happy but sometimes not others. i don't know if that is what you talking about but that is just a daily life reminder. love ya and keep up the good work.

Some of us are introverts and get energy from experiencing the world by ourselves, our thoughts uninterrupted, no need to negotiate with others continuously. Others of us are extroverts and get our energy from interaction with others. I’m an introvert and often ride alone. I intentionally am not putting communication equipment in my helmet. I like other people but definitely need my time alone. There’s a difference between being alone and being lonely. I’m rarely lonely. You do you! Love your vids.

I love watching your videos, You have the best way of making me smile. I love to ride by myself also. It is hard sometimes for me to ride in a group ride because when you have egos eventually your doing 80 trying to keep up. I have a KLR650 that doesn’t like to go over 70, I hate when that happens. And you are right about being able to ride your own ride so you can stop any where you like. You are doing a great job with your video’s. I like when you were cleaning the KTM and I love your riding videos. You really make it look easy.

Everything you just said directly speaks to me. Even riding with just one more person makes me less at ease on my bike. Like "Oh no, I hope they didn't see how badly I just took that corner" or "Is the route I chose good enough?" etc... Riding is for myself.
