The decision to sell my 2007 Porsche 911 / 997 was hard to make. I have never loved and hated the same vehicle so much. In this Vlog I try to explain my logic and rationale but honestly this video falls short of to some degree. I really loved that car, but as you will soon see, she won’t be my last 911.

I noticed some aren’t familiar with 911 safari builds. IMHO a Safari 911 build is the ultimate form for a 911 and is something that can be driven everyday and anywhere! Brad Danger over at Ideal Media KZbin channel ( his channel is dope if you haven’t checked him out) built an amazing 997 safari build. If you want to check out his build the link is here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGO3eHawr9dsgdU

This is ( for my opinion because if I don’t say it the Prince that made these videos could be offended) the way to RUIN a legend as Porsche 911.... good for a circus or in America only... a car that is a legend transformed in a off road.....de gustibus but ( in my opinion) absolutely awful and without a minimum of class ....

Glad I found this channel. Too bad about the 997 but kudos on cutting losses and pursuing your Safari journey. I wanted a 996 C4S and got a 40AE instead which I love so much it has distracted me from my AWD necessities (for now). I'm also a sportsman (ski, hunt, fish, bike, camp) and would love to have an AWD 911 that isn't as pretty as the 40AE that I could do a gonzo alpine-safari style build. Embrace the GORPcore life and bring it to your next 911 and will be that much more meaningful.

I think that if you run 18’s in a non staggered configuration. That might open up more options. I literally just thought about that. Your front tires can fit on the rear but not the other way around. So if you find four front wheels then you might be able to look at a very wide array of tires.

I think you need a Porsche Macan for your needs. I have a 08 Cayenne Turbo and a 997.2 C2S. My 997 is the car I think I'll have more fun in. My Cayenne is the car I have more fun in simply because it's more practical and can handle all my weekend adventures. I love the 911, but I think a Macan or Cayenne would be a better fit for you.
@KRTLyfe
@KRTLyfe 3 жыл бұрын
Before we started Vlogging. I had a 2005 Cayenne turbo it was great when it worked. The early Cayennes had all types of gremlins and mine was no exception smh, but I did enjoy it until it bricked itself ( probably why they have such steep deprecation) The early ones have a drainage issue that causes the immobilizer modules to fail. When this happens you can’t turn the car on steer etc.The tow truck driver broke my steering column getting the truck out of my office parking deck. After several shops tried to figure out what was wrong with CTT. Jim Ellis Porsche in ATL told me it would take about 14k to get it working again. So I sold it broken at a huge loss. We test drove the Macan a year or so ago, but I didn’t like it. The tiny triangle mirror near the a pillar really bothers me lol.

Comfort would be my first consideration. I’m a Short person in decent shape, runner and cyclist but, those seats were unbearable to me. The back pain I would experience was unreal. Since I’ve switched from Porsche to Toyota I’m blown away by the difference in maintenance costs. I spent thousands of dollars in repairs on my P cars over the years, now I own two Land Cruisers and just had my first 1k dollar repair bill for a timing belt/water pump. I also feel like the 997 is too much like the 996 after spending time in a 992. When I get my next P car it will be a 992 or a 964. If you really plan to daily drive it, Supra all day! I DD my 997 and 996 and it wasn’t great if I’m honest, considering the physical pain and maintenance costs… But damn they are so pretty to look at!!! I guess long story short Supra or 992 would be my choices lol.

A 911 is a second or third car. It’s called an every day exotic but that’s by true sports car standards. For what you stated you wanted in a car the 997 was never gonna fill that position. From a 997 lover, I hate to see you sale it but hopefully you find the vehicle to fill your needs

I totally respect your opinion but, I completely disagree. One thing I really like about this generation of car enthusiasts is that they are actually putting miles on these cars. I’m starting to see Lambos , Porsches, R8s Etc with 80k plus miles. Too me that is awesome! That means that people are getting out there and enjoying these amazing machines instead of them sitting idle like museum pieces.
