San Martin are rapidly pricing themselves out of the affordable-but-good value zone. I get the feeling that they are using the positive reviews as a reason to jack the prices.

I agree. The prices are creeping up towards the micro brand price points. On the forums and review sites I am seeing a change in attitude regarding why people are/were initially drawn towards the AE type watches. It seems to be morphing into an upwards trend in prices towards the higher end manufacturers. I myself have not gone that way and for the foreseeable future I can't see myself doing it. I am a cheapskate maybe but paying $400 for an AE watch is a big stretch for me but more than that it kind of against my reason for getting into the AE watch game in the first place.

Toda Aviv, great review. I've just bought the sterile dial on the bracelet. Great watch at this price. I've changed the clasp for a milled clasp, swapped the date wheel for a black one, and replaced the hands for black flieger style hands.

Just bought an Addiesdive in green and it is excellent. It is gaining about 11 secs per day. I am not a fan of the blue AR coating on the glass but that aside, I really like it. Great video.

I have had their tuna and a turtle from Addiesdive. Great prices great pieces. I have since traded them, but I wouldn't hesitate in buying from them again. They make a pretty good piece for the price.

I have the sister version - bronze Steeldive, sterile dial (after all, there’s no steel in bronze 😜), and wear it on a Barton’s Elite silicon strap. Probably my most robust, comfortable watch. It’s the perfect GADA daily driver!! Wears reminiscent of a Sinn 565👌

Nice review. Just subscribed. I got the green dial "Addies" and very happy, +7 spd. The AR coating on mine is very discreet for some reason and I'm happy with it. I'll be honest, I dumped the bracelet, and put a green NATO on it that I swap out with a green leather strap. I think you made a good decision. I really think that one doesn't need to spend so much on a pilot watch.

Got this exact model in the anniversary sale too and it really is brilliant. Put it on a black mesh strap and it looks incredible! I call it the Fleigerdiver - not sure if I got that from a YT video (probably) because it's a 200m 40mm fleiger which doesn't really make sense but it's so good. Went with the black logo dial after a lot of thinking and it looks good.

I have the Steeldive version with the baton hands. It is a strap monster and wears amazing. Good lume on it, good accuracy, and at 100 pounds for the Steeldive, it's a bargain.

Great review Aviv. My take is that Addiesdive and Steeldive stack up very well against San Martin, especially after San Martin's recent price hike. I haven't noticed a great deal of difference in quality, my experience being the San Martin Kanagawa for the reason of the guaranteed lume performance, and my Addiesdive Willard in general stacks up really well quality wise and offers a large saving. I have to decide, like you, wrist time to cost ratio which is why I'm awaiting a blue sterile Tandorio 62mas at about half the price of the Seestern (great watches) and the San Martin. I would have gone for the Seestern against the San Martin because I think that San Martin are trying for exclusivity based on cost only. I also don't see the point of spending a chunk of money for it to lie in a draw, so the Tandorio made more sense. Thanks again. I'm enjoying your older videos. 👍

Great video. I bought this exact version myself on the sale. The bracelet unfortunately was too big for me even without all the links I could take off, but I got a very nice cheap brown leather strap at the same sale (tip from Gary at ILW). I'm totally happy with mine. I can see that SM would have better finishing and details, but this is such a great watch for the money IMHO. I was going for an Escapement Time, but their sizes are a slight too big for me (have their Flieger/Chrono though, since it's actually a little smaller). The Addiesdive has a better fit for my tiny wrist.

As good as all these aliexpress watches are, The San Martins, Addiesdive, Steeldive, Seestern etc etc, yes great specs and price, but at their heart, they are all Seikos and would be nothing without that little nh 35 in them all. They arent using St 6's or dg 2183\4183 or other Chinese movements. I still hold Seiko in the higest regard and love that nh 35 movement.

What doees one want a flirger to do ? Classic simple style with a few extra perks. I bought in in the 11/11 sale. I was on the fence about it. The price and the lume supernova decided it. Those csse lugs are awfully sharp. Be careful changing straps. I grew up with smaller watches in 70's so this is a perfect size. I think even at its regular price its worth buying. Could have been a display caseback but how often do I stare at movements anyway? Hits sweet spots thanks to guys like you I didn't get a dud in 4 watches this last sale. Took 17 days to Canada. .Regards

It wears beatufuly on your wrist.I'm cofused a litle bit of the price since you get a beautiful braclet with the watch.I would also prefer no branding on the dial.It could be a perfect everyday watch not afraid to swim with it.I wish one for my selfe and it would be nice if you can tell how the movement perfomes?I heard that watches like this one(cheap) are using licesing NH35-6 produced in China and if is true i don't have a problem with that.As allways great review and tnx for bringing this one out.

Sir, never change date when either minute and\or the hour hand are between 10 and 2. Always set the time to 18:30 when you change date on a mechanical watch. I own Addiesdive AD2118 and love it. Feels tough\quality and looks great, good specs for the price. Has Seiko nh 35. I had my heart set on a nice Seiko, was prepared to pay £200\300 but the AD2118 chose me. When I saw it I couldn't not buy it. Learning more about the company logo and ethos ( the crossed spear guns on the Spirit of the Deep Sea logo represents a protest against indiscriminate hunting under sea and mankinds impact on the sea), I picked the right watch. Seiko meaning success hardly applies to me and my life. Good watch company.

49mm could definitely be a bit too big for smaller wrists. The curve of the lugs might tone that down a bit though.

49mm L2L is borderline for my ~6.5 inch wrist, but due to the shape of the lugs it works for me.

I forgot to mention that the spring bars actually sits quite close to the case and not out at the tips, which I believe helps as well. A strap shapes around a tiny wrist like mine quite decently.

I find the quality of Steeldive's version is better than the Addie's...the steel bracelet is thicker as is the finishing . There's very little in it .

Currently my favourite next to my good old Casio World Time. Was a bit fed up with heavy watches. Put it on a green two-piece Nylon matching the lume colour, though I bought it on the bracelet cause you never know. Movement is +8sec dial up, -10 in other positions, unusual but it evens out. Currently waiting for a black vintage leather after realising that a brown one isn't quite perfect in my eyes.

From my experience with the "bigger" Chinese brands (San Martin, Addiesdive, Steeldive, Cronos, Baltany etc.), you do get the real deal. These brands would not be so popular if they scammed people by putting different movements than they claim. With that said, some brands (like Lige) are know to not be 100% honest. The key is to go for the bigger and more known brands that have a reputation among watch lovers. Always do your research before you buy a watch!

I really dislike the blue coatings. I don't wear my Steeldive 1996 at all, and largely because of the coating. I find that especially in artificial indoor light you have to get the watch pretty much head on to read it, otherwise it's just the blue coating that you see. I very much like the look of this flieger style but that coating puts me off totally. I'd rather have no coating at all.

I have owned this watch for some time and I have sold it pretty quckly. The bracelet is a hair pulling piece of crap and the color of the dial looked very dull especially with the green lume. And by dull I mean it is definitelly not black, more like somewhere in between dark grey and green. For sure it doesn't look as well as in this video (at least most of the time). The white second hand didn't go well with the watch so well, so I replaced it with the same, but silver from scraped watch (it didn't help as much with not selling the watch).

Pretty sure the San Martin is only 100m water resistant. But the addidive or the Steeldive is not a real sapphire crystal glass, only a thin sapphire coded mineral glass…….my A Uhr got many scratches from my daily uses which I thought it was a sapphire and I didn’t expect it scratched so easily. Check yours again under a micro lens, I bet you will see many hairline scratches….

I bought this Addies as well. It has the worsed bracelet i've ever experienced. Not suitable for wrists under 18cm and the links don't fit on each other. Rubbish!!!

Really? That's a shame. I didn't have any issues with mine. It's not premium quality or anything but I find it acceptable for the price of the watch. As to the size, there was someone else who commented that it's problematic for smaller wrists so that's definitely worth noting. Did you try to contact the seller about it?

Personally I think the quality was fine for this price level. However, even though I have a small wrist this was still the first time I couldn't use the bracelet even after shortened it as much as possible. So that was a slight disappointment, but I personally think it actually looks best on leather straps.
