The Manfrotto has a litte Flathead screw underneath (raise the middle column all the way). Now you can reach the screw. This will prevent the Head from unscrewing :) Had the same setup before and upgraded to a Flowtech 75 as well!

Any fix for a loose wiggly carry handle? Tripod is brand new and I’ve tightened both the Allen and the plastic cover and it’s still loose.

I wish you pointed out any drawbacks of Ace XL, being a budget Sachtler head there must be plenty

I enjoyed the way you explained the value of the Sachtler, sometimes its not always about tech specs but the experience in using a product.

i had to get the flowtech tripod as I just hated the other style legs in the end, whatever it takes to make the experience better, .I love the way its so easy to use.

Solid video! I completely agree that user experience for tripods is huge. I used to have a Cartoni Focus 12 through my job at the news and it was head and shoulders above my entry level Manfrotto. I still miss that tripod when doing freelance work.

It's the best. I'm low key considering a second set of Flowtech legs because this one has spoiled me.

Love your video so much. Have similar Manfrotto setup as you have. I am very close to switching towards Sachtler now.

I'm eyeing off this tripod kit now. Couple of random thoughts... -- Congrats on getting that $1300 deal. Round my area, two years after you published the video, the kit is going for maybe two to three times what you paid! I also think this kit rarely shows up on eBay. So, the people that have bought it, aren't really selling it. -- I've never had that panning problem with the Manfrotto head that you have. But some annoyances I have had are: (1) lock-off. Often, when I lock off the tilt axis, the camera falls just a little bit more, chopping off a little more headspace. I've got into the habit of allowing for this now, but it's still annoying. (2) counterbalance. If you have a long telephoto lens, and anything heavier than a basic DSLR on top, good luck on getting balance! And this has a flow-on effect. Not only is it generally more difficult to execute moves smoothly, but if you have to make small adjustments (for instance, adjusting the tilt slightly between different speakers at a conference), you're fighting the camera all the way -- very annoying if you're doing live events. -- One big disadvantage with the Flowtech legs: they don't go all that high. They're fine for standard operation. But, for filming stuff like events, weddings, funerals, presentations, concerts, where you want a tripod that goes over the top of people's heads, nope. (But you could try something dodgy to get the extra height, like attaching some sort of light stand or monopod to the tripod, then mounting the camera on top of that Frankenstein.)

I believe that if you expect being paid for your work, you should own a proper equipment. 1300 USD for a tripod is a nice entry level professional tripod. Once you get into heavier setups and you need precise counter balance and smooth movement, you can easily get into 5000-8000 USD range.

So what this young man is saying is that he spent about $3-4K in tripods when he could’ve spent just $1,200-1,700 in the beginning for a really good one. I have to agree with him as I have a few cheapies too (including the gas station tripod)

They have quick disconnect head now no more tight and loosening to adjust the head and level . I got the Sachtler because I was sick of bending over to adjust while my $3000.00 camera was on it. and Manfrotto well all mine were garbage the leg tighten mechanism would get loose. I even had a pin come out that held the legs together. NO more of that crap. awesome video btw. thanks my dude. I use mine for ENG

OMG Gas Station tripod and Plastic Fantastic 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 You killed me! I'm in the market for a tripod and im looking at Teris TSN6CF-Q Carbon Fiber Tripod & Fluid Head System Cartoni Focus 8 Fluid Head with Red Lock Tripod System OZEN 75CF2 75mm Carbon Fiber Tripod & Agile 8 Fluid Head System I don't know which is going to be my best set up. I have 2 cameras (BMD Ursa and BMPCC6K) both are rigged out. I've already purchased kits (under $500). I really not keen on Manfrotto

Cartoni is the only brand from that list that I've had experience with (all good). Best advice I can give is making sure that is checks your list of what you want (Payload, counter balance, spreader etc) and then see if you can get hands on with any of them. You can never REALLY tell how smooth a tripod head is until you rig it up and tinker.

@@drewbdarby Thanks. That's good to hear. It's pretty difficult to get my hands on one only 2 "legitimate" camera shops in my area and of course they don't carry anything like that. I do appreciate the feedback
