My wife and I sold everything and travelled full time in a 36 foot motorhome for nine years then the last 12 years traveling 1/2 time +/- . “May the road rise up to meet you. Thank you for your Airstream Base Camp story. We're ( my wife is) trying to teach her new cat the ins & outs of a harness so we can take the cat in our truck and 27' / 2007 Trailite Travel trailer. Up to the RV park where we store and use our trailer. Not sure if we will take it out on the road part time or full time , we're still deciding. The rona put a big roadblock in our plans. But we do love the Airstream! And we want to go look at a Base Camp! I'm 5 ' 11" , can I get a good shower in a Base Camp? Thank you! The best to me is the Travato 59k because it’s not a big RV at all only like 20 feet long, but yet the layout is beautiful and you can park it anywhere. Did the full-time thing for a couple of years in a class A. Was great for awhile, did a lot of traveling but missed the home base. Living day to day in an RV can get a bit much believe it or not. Very nice job. From a former TV writer-producer, your narration and presentation is very professional. Okay, pleasantries aside: I have a few questions regarding your solar package. You have two panels on the roof and added the additional ground panels. What wattage do all panels now pull? Do you find the upgraded items excessive, just right or just making it, for your power needs? Based on many of your narratives, I assume your father helped you with the install of upgrades... Did you find it intimidating? Moving on, I really want to know more about the weBoost (sp) system. It's something I want, but know little about. And the apps you mentioned in your travels for a new refrigerator. More attention to the different apps available would be helpful. Maybe it's own video.... And finally, I enjoyed the cooking segment. Making fried rice and mixing it up does make for a weeks worth of great meals. But I kept waiting for you to remove that dogie bag from the smoke detector... Otherwise, good concept and worth more production time.
@TailsofWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for that! The deployable are 160W and rooftop are 180W for a total of 340W. For living full time and working full time, I find it just what I need. However, if I didn't have one or the other (not having to run a laptop all day or not living full-time) it may be more than I really need. My father helped me with the 12V install, and it was intimidating until he showed me as I didn't have much experience in electrical. When it came to the full lithium upgrade I did hire someone for that. As for the ideas for future videos, I've added a bunch to my list thank you for the ideas! I do have an internet video out right now which does go over the WeBoost a bit more. Thanks for watching!

Just an FYI, like you need my help. Looking at your pic, it looks like your tongue weight is too heavy for your vehicle. I RV’d Full time for 5 years, and in my experience when you have the front of your tow vehicle raising up into the air, not only does it make your vehicle difficult to control, but very difficult if driving into the wind is kinda like trying to drive a kite.......you might need to see about adding some kind of air shocks to level out your ride. Just a thought from an “older” Female..🥴🥴🥴🥴. Enjoy every nano second, minute, hour, day. It will be the best time of your life. i lived in my van for 5 months (by choice) and it was one of the most spiritually nurturing times in my life... it really simplified things. Work, eat, climbing gym, find a spot to park and sleep, repeat. I remember one of my favorite quirky memories of van life, was when i met up w/a bunch of friends for a camp trip. at the end of the camping weekend, i asked a friend what her plans were after the trip. she mentioned she was just going to go home and relax. She asked me what my plans were, and i realized, i didn't have a 'home' to go back to... lol my home was wherever i parked the van. there was something kind of 'freeing' about that moment, while at the same time, i felt the desire to be 'home.' Don't see why you have a boy friend.i traveled alot on camping and seeing and meeting new people for off on on 5 yrs.work awhile save money then take off and having a girl friend was not a option to worry about.had friends to travel with that were female,but no emotion commitment.this was 70s 80 s.lot different then,but enjoy your life while young it passes fast,be careful this world is really dangerous now.no way I do the things now I did then in my van.

Hi Andrew! I am a Process Consultant. My job was a remote role and then I worked with my company to be able to travel while I work remotely. There are resources out there you can use to research available jobs. Check out the Escapees/Xscapers website as a good place to start.

I'm so glad I found you! I purchased a Winnebago Class C 3 months ago to live in full time. I'm disabled and spend days on end in bed in pain, so about 6 months ago I decided that if I'm going to be in bed unable to go anywhere, why not move my bed? On the days when I can drive, I will (post Covid of course), and on the days when I can't, at least the view outside my bedroom window changes😊 So I sold my condo, packed up my cat, and we are on the road, (well, mostly my mother's driveway until Covid let's me visit friends and family outside of my bubble🙄) I think I've already decided to sell my Class C and swap it for either a Class B or a small trailer; the Class C is only 25 feet, but it still feels too big. Anyway, I look forward to following your journey and learning lots! Thank you so much💗

Hi Michelle! It is so good to virtually meet you. I love your perspective and how you are taking a leap to enjoy life. Staying in your mom's driveway is a great way to start and learn the ins and outs of living in a RV before heading out on travels. I wish you amazing journeys in the future, and maybe someday I'll run into you out on the road!

how is the heating and cooling? I have a job where I have to leave my pets at home and I am most concerned about their safety while I'm gone.. thanks for your info!!
@TailsofWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The heat is great. The AC does require being plugged into a RV park and can be loud. Also, leaving pets in a RV all day long on a consistent basis could become a concern. If anything ever goes wrong with the AC, the heat can climb very quickly in a trailer and can become dangerous to pets. I do have a wifi thermometer and camera to keep an eye on them when I leave.

sounds amazing, I would really like to live this kind of lifestyle. your thinking that your boyfriend might have a great place to park your RV while you look for land or property seems like a great idea, maybe he might be interested in buying land that you can park on and the two of you could live there and then use his house for showers and such. I think traveling and meeting people would be so invigorating, they might also suggest places for you to park or camp, maybe in their driveways or on their land. they could also help you wash your clothes and have you over for dinner. I think traveling can be so social. great idea about your stand up desk. I find standing up to work makes my back hurt so its good to have options. sometimes sitting down and just taking it easy is the way to go. I love your pets, I think German shepherds are the best.
@TailsofWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching Earl! You're right we have several options for hopefully finding land, it just comes down to an area that will let us park and live in trailers. That's one reason I'm searching more for a cabin. And yes, traveling can absolutely be very social.

Shed to home. Gotten into this as an economic alternative to high cost home home. Plus, I like the smaller home. A 1 bedroom with an office nook with an overall size of approximately 500 sq ft is not a common home in the US. Especially if your bf is good with woodworking, and you’re young and healthy enough to do a lot of the work yourself. A cute little house for 30k. 😃

That is a great idea! We’ve talked about that and looked at a few. It’s just that land is much harder to finance than a home, so it’ll depend on what comes along. Thanks for the comment!

Hi Marc - I use wifi hotspots for internet. I do have a video out there on it. Also, Napoleon does have a harness and leash to keep him close. And we normally don't camp near people so it gives us all a lot of privacy.

Interesting channel Cass. I'm a semi retired engineer back working in a bike shop...my first love. My plan is to get a trailer like yours, pack the bikes up and take them to really cool places and use my base camp...as a base camp. 😁 So instead of bikepacking in a loop fashion, we could simply park, set up camp, and do one day rides in a spur fashion. The most important thing to note is we wouldn't be sleepin on the ground...yah! The Colorado Trail, Lake Tahoe, Grand Tetons, the Carolinas, Arkansas...you name it. And yes...you read that last one right. They have some righteous single-track! Anyway, I agree on the durability, reliability, and resale of top tier aluminum and fiberglass trailers. I can't wait! In the meantime I'll just be a KZbin sponge...so thanks.

Hi I'm from Bradenton, Florida. My name is Garry. I noticed, when you got on your way, you had to put all your loose stuff on top, and put it on the bed. I used netting to cover all of my loose stuff. It would save a lot of time. It worked for me. You can get your netting from Amazon, or what I did, order from Walmart. Hape It works.for you. Garry. P.S.I love your shapard, and your kitty. I have one yorkie, two cats, male, and his sister, and 7 birds. God be with you.

WHERE do you park this on a daily basis?? I have been wanting to get a basecamp for a while to retire in but seems like rental for camp site monthly another expense. How hard is it to find a place to do Laundry while living in a small rv like that? No campsites I found have laundry place.
@TailsofWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
I also have a video out there on Laundry if you'd like. As for where to park it, I typically park on public lands. RV parks are another option, but it does increase the cost considerably.

For all the people asking if it's worth investing into any type of home on wheels, I can tell you from personal experience that you can't put a price tag on the feeling that you get from traveling and waking up next to a lake, a river, a beach, a dense forest, a swamp or any city in the country that you choose. I used to travel with a large band and it was amazing, I would do it over and over again if given the chance...Congrats to you young traveler, may God bless you on your many journeys.
