Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

I quit drinking on the 13th of April this year, cold turkey after "weaning down" for over a year after being a full blown very functional alcoholic for over 10 years... And I won't knock my journey bc I needed that time to find intentionality but I had to apologise to my body for all I put it through. I DIDN'T KNOW. I just figured this out for myself. I stopped smoking and drinking for 2 weeks. I've painted, I wrote songs, I've built things, solved many problems that had be bothering me for ages... I just realized I was bad at these things all the time I was altering my mental. It's like it was cutting off my spiritual connection, and when it came back, there was a flood of creativity.

I'm an alcoholic. My issue is I'm a naturally depressed person so I gravitate towards booze to alleviate my anxiety and self hate. I wish I could have the same healthy mentality as Steve Harvey. At 64 I am NEVER depressed, and I will never be depressed even if I live to be 100. Is everything right with me? Absolutely not. It's a choice I've made. I do not smoke. I do not do drugs (legal or illegal). I do not drink alcohol. This is not to beat my chest, but to show the power of making choices. Your mind, with the help of God, is sufficient to take you through every situation you may face un-altered. It is that powerful.

While I agree with him, I smoke weed very seldom (maybe 4-6 times a year) and it definitely gives a different perspective than being sober. I don't believe that life is always about using your god given gifts all the time. Some times you need you sit down on a day off, get high on weed, and allow your soul to ruminate. Been working since & have since moved 2 move times, each time into a bigger & nicer place. I might still be in the same Neighborhood but I’m living in a better apartment & the neighborhood isn’t bad. Finally got a ride too. It’s used but it’s mine. I’m making nearly 3 times as much as I said I hoped to be making back when I was getting high & an old friend asked me where do I see myself in 5 years. Oh!! Never sell yourself short. The point is about altering your mental state. Having a glass or two doesn't alter you state when you exceed it it might but for some one glass might be enough to alter it. Weed unfortunately alters your state pretty quickly. But I hear what he is saying very clearly. Cigars does not alter your state of mind lol I have never in my life heard of a cigar or even a cigarette altering one's mind. Reason smoking a cig for some calms them down is actually because they are breathing properly lol sadly with nicotine but yeah... I like Steve’s perspective in this video, I definitely vibe with a lot of what he says. But I think it is damn near impossible to have an opinion on altered states of consciousness without having any real experience with substances/plants that can bring about real positive change in someone’s life. There’s a reason psilocybin mushrooms and MDMA have been approved for certain types of therapy(eliminating addiction, PTSD, etc). Not saying that people should engage in these things on a regular basis without proper research and preparation, but I am saying that these things have changed peoples lives, it’s well documented, and they changed mine.

Mushrooms and marijuana are natural substances but they Do alter the mind. These plants and substances Do help people with mental illnesses and disturbances because they alter the mind. I am Pro Natural health, medicine and healing. Fortunately, their mind is altered to a point where they become more mentally balanced which is wonderful! When we start to use substances, natural or man made, to alter a " normal/ regular/ balanced" mind, you run the risk of throwing that mind out of balance. Consequently, there is that need to use that substance to get "that feeling" again. Then for many, even what was initially done for fun/recreation become a necessity to feel good or a downright habit.
