Nova being hyped to see Hop was an unexpected dose of wholesome that I didn't know I needed today. The visual signature reduction is a pretty compelling argument in favor of the old school cans, especially since the VA doesn't subscribe to the "you break it, you buy it" philosophy when it comes to knees and ankles. Not being mobile enough to displace easily places a higher premium on making shots count and not being spotted, and I've built my kit out accordingly.

I disagree, for most shtf scenarios, you likely won’t be sending enough rounds down range to warrant it. Suppressor tech and host optimization is my tism. I have shot A LOT of cans on my main squeeze which is a 12.5 mid gas, riflespeed adjustable gas block, Sprinco red spring, H3 buffer and KAK Downvemted BCG. My favorite so far has been the CAT WB QD 718. It’s maintaining RC2 levels of muzzle suppression, while still achieving the backpressure and locking back on the same setting as a Velos. Which is very indicative of the PewScience Data. And it’s still is phenomenal with flash suppression. after that my favorites for low backpressure are the PTR Vent3, Velos and the Vented LPM torch. My favorite higher backpressure cans are the SCI SIX, Polonium and the polonium k.

Own 15 cans and have a buddy with 70, which I've shot most of. High pressure cans absolutely still rule the day on subsonic ammo and bolt guns. A low BP can on a bolt gun is sacrificing potential for no reason. The other thing (and we sell cans on a daily basis based off pew science data) that most people aren't taking into account with that data is the lack of a properly tuned host. You will end up with a net quieter setup when you properly tune the gun for the can in the case of rc2 Polonium etc. Our shop got custom made barrels that will only run a can for this reason. We have a 14.625 with a rifle gas and it's quiet and light on gas.

Other than the glowing (and price), CAT's current offerings pretty much fully negate the downsides of low back pressure cans. I've got a Rugged Alaskan 360, an OCL Polonium, A Huxwrx Ventum 762, and a CAT WB. I keep going back to the Polonium. The performance is so good I decided to tune an upper specifically for it with a Black River Tactical gas tube. It's the quietest can I own and performs better than any other non-integral can I've been around. I feel like the most legit reason to choose a flow through can is that you just don't want to bother tuning the gun. That's not saying it's dumb either, high flow designs have their place and the Huxwrx 556k was my advice for a friend that wanted a detachable can without having to tune his rifle. My autism is that neither of my high flow cans, the Ventum or the CAT WB, can keep up with the sound signature reduction of the Polonium and it is my cheapest can. The Rugged Alaskan with a 556 end cap is actually my second quietest, actually very close to the Polonium, but it doesn't have the flash performance the Polonium does. The CAT WB has the next best flash performance after the Polonium but it's incredibly expensive and I honestly don't think it's really worth it, even if the gas blowback incredibly minimized. When looking for a suppressor, the questions a first time buyer is going to have versus the questions a repeat buyer will have are vastly different. I think cost and difficulty of use are two of the most important things for a start. Anyone reading can feel free not to listen but these are just my thoughts. Don't spend so much money you can't afford to train with it. Don't burn yourself on your can. Don't fret about the finish on the surface. Get something that fits your budget and put it to good use. Timing muzzle devices sucks, specifically muzzle brakes/compensators with a 12 o'clock necessitated orientation. I've never bothered trying to direct thread my cans, I've sought deals on Rearden mounts for my 556 rifles and I keep all my 7.62 stuff set for Rugged Rum mounts so nobody an mess up and put a 556 can on a 7.62 gun. I goofed and put Rearden double port brakes on almost all my 556 rifles before I figured out only my Polonium has a big enough blast chamber to let that be used with a standard Rearden Atlas, most cans need their shorter muzzle devices and frankly the birdcages are just easier to install anyway. The minutia between cans is small compared to the effect of having one. There are many reasonable sized cans that can do that job. I'd rather have a long light can than a short heavy one, as long as I'm not using titanium (heat durability and sparking). It's part of the reason I'm interested in the Rugged Razor 556 my other friend is looking to get next. Odds are, whatever your first can is, you'll end up wanting another at some point. I was convinces I'd only buy the Polonium, now here I am with $800 in tax stamps. I will also add that for my asthmatic friends high flow cans are helpful. Thanks for the content. Sorry for the novel. Keep it going Brass, you've got what it takes.
@Justin-cy8isАй бұрын
You prefer CAT WB over the Ventum?
@JetorgXIIIАй бұрын
@@Justin-cy8is Personally yes, but specifically for flash reduction. The Ventum is a little quieter but neither are what I would call performance cans or sound signature focused suppressors. The inconel CAT WB does a fantastic job of eliminating flash, the Ventum's titanium core does not do that very well and the anti-flash coating on the core will eventually wear out from what I've heard. There are merits to both and the Ventum does a fantastic job of eliminating backpressure though, the CAT is close but the reduction (while perfectly functional) is still not as clean to run. If we take cost into consideration and you are only looking for something to cut down on annoyance at the range, the Ventum is an easier sell to me. It's cheaper, does the same job, I just don't see it as a serious tactical can due to the muzzle flash issue. My personal opinion is that titanium doesn't belong in the construction of suppressors for tactical purposes, but they work well for hunting, target shooting, etc. Sorry for the lengthy response lol.

I've had an RB in silencer jail for a month (on a trust. the ATF will never convince me to buy as an individual with the wait time disparity). hopefully will have it soon, have purchased other cans on the trust. in Texas, if there's a way to let ya compare em and you wanna... let me know

The flow is more expensive but... I've found it's not that much more once you add an ajustable gas block and buffer and extra powered spring to help with gas mitigation. It ends up being only a 100 or 200 bucks more...

Try a WB. High Performance and still low back pressure. Thus, you don't need to tune a single thing on your gun.

I keep hearing that, I'm curious if it's actually true

Throw in an LMT Enhanced BCG and bolt, it’s magical

As a lefty, high back pressure cans on an AR are a tear inducing experience. However since I have moved to an X95, the high back pressure can is not a problem.
@tylerhall6455Ай бұрын
Really? Ive always heard/read that the x95 rifles pretty much neccessitate flow through cans... I guess cuz the gas and no adjustable gas blocks. Unless your talking 300 BO x95 which I think comes with a AGB...

@@tylerhall6455 I love my X95 with a high sound reduction can. No gas in the face at all.

Ever since I got my 11.5 middy with the reduced gas port from KAK I have no desire to pay twice as much for a fancy hux or some of other low back pressure guns. I get 0 gas to face, shoots great and is quiet. Especially on my bolt guns 😌

Did you upgrade cameras? Image is sharp.

I do like my normal old school cans. I only own 1 flow through right now, but I only shoot it on a bolt gun host. For my AR’s I don’t mind the blow back, but for my SP5 I really want to get a flow through because cleaning the HK is so much more difficult than the AR’s.

my 30cal baffled K can is direct-fused to my barrel is not coming off, gas is adjusted and set forever. If I'm replacing anything on that upper, I'm rebuilding the whole thing
@sportsman48Ай бұрын
I enjoy my polo quite. Full length is even better than the K. I assume most people are going to tune with gas blocks amd buffers so then its about weight and length- the full aize wasnt too big to give up the performance

I have a Hux 556k and YHM Turbo (Gen 1) The YHM Is definitely quiter, easier to service & almost NO Signature. The Hux is shorter, has a far superior mounting method & Gives near 0 gas back to the face... With an obvious signature

Do you have any opinion on the left hand thread QD mounts? I really like the idea, but only dead air (xeno) and the hux wrx solutions go with that concept.
@David-zc9xlАй бұрын
Them flow throws held with muzzle flash , though not as quiet as traditional cans . Which is great for them soldiers. I'll stick with traditional, they are most quiet and believe I'll never be in a fire fight longer then 5 min ,home intruders run at the sound of gun fire. Flash hiding won't make a difference . Get my drift?
