Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.

Carl, I owe a lot to you. I’m only 19 and Iv been working with my dad in the plumbing field for 3 years now. When I started, I didn’t have a lot of confidence in my self (wore Walmart clothes and such, they do get the job done though!) but when I first watched your first carhartt vid, I completely changed..my style is much different now (at work and out with friends/family etc) basically what I’m trying to say is THANK YOU! The last year Iv felt great just because of how I dressed at work. You’ve given me confidence I could’ve never dreamed of. I wish you well and I’ll continue to support your channel.

I wore Carhartt products for over 30 years while being an ironworker, when I first started buying carhartts back in 1988 it was all made in the USA as the years went on more and more of it was being made overseas I still bought it but I noticed the difference in quality, nowadays I don't think you can find a piece of Carhartt clothing that was made in the USA.

When I first got started working everything that I could I would make sure to get Carhartt but since then I've strayed and tried different brands, I've really started to love Duluth trading company and a few others for my work wear but it seems more and more I keep coming back to Carhartt. There's just some things but they do better than anyone else in the industry, especially their bib overalls, I've yet to find anyone that makes a better pair of insulated bibs. I also really love their rain defender hoodies for the money it's hard to find anything better without bumping up to Flint and tinder prices. As long as the hipsters and corporate sellouts don't ruin Carhartt like they did filson I think I'll always have a few Carhartt pieces in my closet.

You should check out stormy Kromer hats, they're all made in the upper peninsula of Michigan and with winter coming up there is staple of Midwestern apparel steeped in a long and storied tradition it would definitely be worth the attention a producer like you gives to quality gear. They also make some pretty nice wool vests that I think are comparable to the filson wool vest

I personally own some carhartt wip products and I have to say that their pants are, even when not discounted, great value. I often see pants around the same price range having alot of freyed and loose threads at the stitching but carhartt has them way less, after a while the will come but that's natural with wear. Even their t-shirts hit different. You'd think it's just another cotton t-shirt but they feel way softer and more comfortable and even denser and so more durable. I gotta say i have never seen a brand with this price to quality ratio before. Great bang for your buck. I don't know about their jackets but I ordered a vest recently so hopefully i can see if jacket quality is good because the jackets tend to be alot more expensive.

I live and work on a farm and have yet to destroy any of my Carhartt items (RIP 14 Walmart shirts). It’s also a huge plus that they carry a lot of items for the ladies vs other workwear brands. They are built really well, handling the sharpest cat nails, but I kneel down allot, so do many others in this field working with small animals. The scrub pants just dont move freely and have little space in the thighs, I have ripped a few at the inseam because of this. I still wear their scrub top but I had to buy a competitors scrub pants.

Has the quality gone down hill, due to the Carhartt work wear being made in India? Would you advice to buy a Carhartt jacket or coat thats made in the USA? Thank you for your time. Sincerely Guy.

@Carl Murawski If you could somehow get this feedback to your contacts at Carhartt it would make my day. What baffles me about the brand is the fact that they discontinue some of their most beloved products! I am specifically referring to their stonewash detroit jacket, just one look at what they go for on most secondhand stores online (ebay, depop, ect.) should inform them on what people really want. I'll end my rant there but please feel free to comment if you want to know more, I have a lot more to say if there is any interest.

Haha I thought only people from my town in the sticks wore this shit until I saw it in a rap video. I've been rocking carhartt since I was 17 now suddenly everyone has it on it's crazy. They even have carhartt trucks!

Hey Carl, Maybe you can help me find a Carhartt product or point me to a comparable product. I'm looking to replace my Carhartt b194 sandstone waist overall quilt lined pants. These are essentially their overalls but in a pant version. They have quilt lining and full length side leg zippers. I live at 4,100' right on the U.S./CA border where we have three seasons: spring, winter and fall. I own and operate heavy equipment and a sawmill. These pants are awesome for late fall and early spring where I don't need my full overalls and like the freedom in the waste. It seems that Carhartt has discontinued this item. I can't find any comparable quilt lined, double front, side leg zippered pants. Any help from you or your viewers would be greatly appreciated.

This is an example of the amazing things that a company can do if it focuses on quality and continues to improve based on feedback. Love it!

Couldn't agree more! Of course they don't do everything right, but I think that just the attempt to do good speaks volumes.

What are your thoughts on Carharrt WIP? I really like the brand, however they greatly differ with the way they present the brand 🤔

Pricier, more fashionable but quality stuff. I actually recently gave away some Carhartt WIP winter gear I wasn't wearing to a hostel /shelter. The wife pointed that it was super durable and after a wash it looked like new. I do a bit of hiking and that gear is now pricey & lightweight. Stuff gets ripped or damaged more easily because shells are thinner & more high tech to save weight. Whereas these carhartt items have brushed against trees, thorns, rocks, chopped trees, lugged blocks, fallen over quite a few times on gravel, scree.. The kind of use that should leave marks of wear and tear but they look new. I actually had to wash some blood off my field cargo pants but they looked fine. A 3L goretex jacket was ripped in the same fall. I'm not saying Carhartt WIP stuff is indestructible because it isn't. But it's built for durability while still looking fashionable.
