Are you addicted to music as much as I am? Oh boii...I feel you. I've been trying to have more gaps, silence, times of my day without any external input. Usually, thats considered as counter productive, don't you think? Well...who gets to say whats productive and what not? I try to explore that in my life a little bit and this is what this video is about

I looked at the title of the video and thought, "why would someone do that, music is beautiful" but i get it now. I never actually thought about it from this perspective. having a form of media playing during any dull task has become such a habit, it's engraved into me. but you're right. The reason i was so creative and innovative as a child was because i had to fill the silence on my own, i've been asking myself were that spontaneous creativity went over the years now that i'm studying art. I think i figured it out now, thank you :) i'm going to tune into the world more from now on ;p

@@woopazipper The Arabic Oud is played throughout the Islamic world. It also has many derivatives played in the Islamic world. As well, it spread through Asia and Europe as the Lute and has become the forefather of most stringed instruments in the world today. In Spain it became the Vihuela, which led to the Classical and Flamenco guitar. Islam can take credit for spreading stringed instruments around the entire world, but ironically, now Islam forbids music? It's more likely that fanatic fundamentalists such as the Taliban forbid music, but not the entire Islamic world.

And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' @@thehumanchris haven't watched the video yet but I just wanted to share my story quick. I have cut back on music A LOT. Im huge into techno and happy hardcore dnbtrancebreaksetcetc. Lots of very energizing music. I’d say I’m not afraid to be alone with my thoughts since I do that when I don’t have music. But I feel rather bored, idk, I love music and basically blasting it through my brains. But I’m not listening to music because I’m scared to be a lone with my thoughts. I see this comment a lot, and I feel like most people aren’t afraid to be alone in silence, but it’s just boring. Rosie ally when you can listen to your favourite music. I mean sometimes I’ll just sit there with no music, maybe not for very long, but I don’t put my headphones on because I can’t be alone by myself. And I also understand that listening to music probably isn’t that good for you tbh. I mean I had like 167,000 minutes in 2020 on Spotify. And it’s been decreasing ever since then to like 55,000 minutes now, which is a huge decrease. -and even then each day I put on a 15 minutes timer on the Spotify sleep timer, so it’s a decent amount less. Anyways, it’s not about being afraid, I think it’s about boredom and usually people being overstimulated, or getting used to being overstimulated.

@@user-qv3zt8xo7e I’ve got permanent tinnitus, meaning that it’s always there. Although, I think that this could be a misunderstanding about it, it varies a lot. For example, when I woke up yesterday it was really loud, a lot more than usual. Today, however, it was pretty normal. Another thing about that I don’t think people understand, is that sometimes (pretty randomly), another, higher, louder pitch is added for a few minutes. The best thing about it is that you don’t really have to focus on tuning it out, as if I’m hearing a noise that’s louder than my tinnitus, then I have to focus to notice it. However, in those quiet moments, like trying to sleep or those same quiet drives, it’s pretty noticeable. Protect your ears!

Music addiction is a real thing because it's like a drug, we use it to escape the pressures of our realities instead of facing them. I've realized that music was a huge part in my mental health, not in helping it but making it worse when I thought it was helping because it was serving as an escape for me so now I cut off all that music and just listen to things that bring me peace and a realistic happiness. Been listening to a lot of songs about God lately. There's this song I really like because it's like the artist is having a real talk with God in a sad moment and there's so much hope in it that it actually uplifts me. It's called Where I'm Gonna Be by Mia Rio. She's not a big artist yet but totally worth it.

I agree that I at times, must open space for silence and boredom. (Like right now currently typing and hearing nothing but the tapping of my keyboard). I appreciate you, your perspective and transparency, this is the form of videos I've been searching for a while.

But I am still shy/afraid that someone will just take my camera from me hahah! The message, still your mind to find yourself! But i've been able to think more clearly in days where i didnt occupy my mind with anything externally. ALSO! You should definitely go outside and film some stuff. I've also had to push myself out of my comfort zone to do it, but its always very gratifying and pushes your creativity :)

The way you've worded, and filmed this is exceptionally beautiful . I realized this a few months ago, I sometimes feel as if songs are burdening me with emotions which i never had and those emotions distract me from my own thoughts. Yea sometimes I still listen to music, play music but I don't use it to fill the gaps that boredom causes. Instead i like to be left alone without any external input and after sometime I get overwhelmed with my own thoughts. I'm going to be 16 and I'm happy that I've realized this much earlier than people do :D

No both of them are haram and you can search about this and there where a hadith talking about this. In my opinion, energy and positive music as you said it just makes us happy for moments and then you back to reality and back to everything. you can get this by listening or reading a quran, it makes everything peaceful and makes sense. or doing sports. so you'll start to feel the real life and find stuff that really makes you happy and not haram or damage your mental health by the time. anyways, my opinion is not important when it comes to halal or haram we just try as we can to follow Allah’s commands and avoiding His prohibitions and ask him to help us doing this. @@brawlerpro5829

I love music, I always believe that it is what gives my life meaning, especially when i discover new albums all over the world thanks to the help of youtube algorithm, I used to try to fill every menial gap with a song playing in the background, music is a wonderful thing that always lifts me up, I was initially quite taken aback by the video title wondering why someone would stop enjoying such a great medium, after watching your video, I have to agree, silence is a pretty important thing to have especially in the busy modern world, in silence is when my brain is the most active, I get to introspect and organize my own thoughts, I would still listen to music cause its such an important part of my life, but I would not force myself to listen to it 24/7 and leave some time for silence through the day.

During the mornings i have this feeling of doing things, but when i start listening music and these emotions come up and brings me joy for like 20 or 30 minutes, and then i stop, its like it consumed most of it and leaves me with none.

I would suggest you to quit it slowly rather than all at once, make a tasks list (anything like watching a chunk of tutorial, doing certain number of pushups, buying groceries, washing your socks etc..) and start rewarding yourself with a song after completing these small tasks. Always keep the tasks that you despise the most at the top priority. Use your addiction for your benefit.

And remember, always be true to yourself only. If you lie to yourself a lot and don't fulfill the promises that you make to yourself than you'd always find yourself running away from reality in the form of addiction. It's okay to fall short sometimes, just apologize to yourself and move on.

It’s crazy to see how far I’ve come knowing that not even to long ago I couldn’t stand being alone with myself, or my thoughts and now although I have those days every now and then, I can actually take a minute to breathe and clean in complete silence. I’ve been trying to distract myself from the real world lately and I realize I wasn’t able to make art and enjoy it as much when there was something in the background it truly made me lose the feeling of a connection to my art and I lost my interest in art for quite a bit. anyways what I’m trying to say is thank you for making this video I got to reflect a lot in just a few minutes

@@lesedimakeketa5683 For those who used to be addicted to Music and left it for the sake of Allah Almighty have spoken about it especially on KZbin and amongst the many benefits they say they felt like it was an addiction which is weird because we do not think of it as such, we think we are listening to make our moods better and we stop when we want to stop and some consider such a thing not an addiction but then if you think about it do the people who love music and entertainment a bit too much seem to be annoyed when the music isn’t right or would even fight for a basic aux or song of their choice… I mean I had my bestfriend block me on fb just because I told her her favorite music artist wasn’t that cool. Can you imagine. They just like drugs or cigarettes addicts or alcohol addicts justify their bad behavior with this “music lover” and if you think about it they are definitely not able to stop this addiction whenever they want.
