Also, that knowledge is useless unless it is backed by action. Reading won't on it's own make you into the person you want to be. You have to take that knowledge and apply it in the real world. Then, after you have done that successfully enough times it's an automatic reaction, you have just gained wisdom. The reason is, wisdom is doing. S. - "You know to clean a windshield?" D. - "Yeah." (with a puzzled look) S. - Throws the window squeegee at D. "Good, then do it." Bonus points if you know what movie that's from. ;)

I'm a student, 20 years of age, studying in Europe. Next year I'm finishing my bachelor's degree in informatics/multimedia. I'm striving to be some form of photographer but I do not have a clue how to apply photography in my professional life. Nor do I know how to apply any skill in my professional life, and because of that I believe that "I have no purpose/skill" which makes me stand out as a student, as a person. I'm a big fan of watching educational content on KZbin or reading books, my attention span is quite short on the contrary, so some times I just end up absorbing less information than I would want to. I want to change that. I am extremely worried that one day, when I finish university, I will be just another standard 09-17 worker with possibly an average salary and doing absolutely nothing what I would want to do, yes, I'm worried. I do acknowledge that my problem does seem quite mainstream, I just do not know how to apply change in life, when to stop procrastinating and how to get my life together. Help would be appreciated. Thank you for reading this, hope you're having a wonderful day/evening/night. Take care of yourself. Cheers.

Hey! I have the kind of similiar situation and struggles with you. 21 year old student here, i will be finishing my degree in English Lit in 2 years and media in 1 year. Like you, when i finish university either i will be a waste with minimum wage 9-5 worker or jobless due to economic crisis (being a standart teacher is my worst nightmare lol). I want to be an artist in many fields, so this is my plan- Self teaching- There's a lot of tutorial and masterclasses (like masterclass.com where you have professionals giving a course) and you can somehow access it for free (either trials or pirating). You should divide the days of your week to each thing you want to focus on (this is a method Elon Musk does) for example: monday- learning photography tuesday- learning lighting wedneyday- photoshooting monday- learning photography/editing your photos etc etc. you can divide the days as before noon/after noon to do 2 things in that day also. THE KEY IS NOT TRYİNG TO MULTITASK EVERYTHING AT ONCE AND FOCUS ON WHAT YOURE DOING FOR THE DAY PLANNED AND NOT STRESS OVER THE TOMORROW'S ISSUES. yeh. I'd say follow unique photographers and anything that inspires you and GET RID OF YOUR MAIN PROCASTINATORS/apps and time consuming games for example (which is a huge problem for me still, last week I had to throw a good opportunity to starting to be a comic artist FOR NOTHING. Because I procastinated let myself be a stop in my true way.) Also think of how your work can inspire of help people, and how it helps you (not materialisticly). - do not forget the thing we call skill is just doing/repeating something over and over and we naturally learn to be better at it. Anyone can learn any skill by hard work, practice, knowledge. Try to search for oppoortunities, contests, make a social media profile, meet people like you, meet professional photographers and explore yourself.

Well, that's very interesting! Because I recently graduated in *Media-IT* as well and also have creative skills like *photography,* drawing, etc. that I really like to take to a professional level and maybe even make a living from it 😃 Why I'd like to do that? I've studied and should be working as an UI/UX Designer already, right? Well, that's the problem. Right now it's super difficult to find a job (because of COVID) 😷 But this situation *gently forced* me find out and do alot of reasearch about how I can make money with my skills (and of course improve my skills over time). I've then discovered a yt channel called *"The Futur"* which finally answered all the questions and half-knowlegde I had. It's a channel about teaching ppl in the creatie field like visual design and stuff to get better, start a business as a freelancer and all that stuff around it with a great teacher, Chris Do. Since then I've been watching each of their new video and learn something new everytime! Like, I never thought I could even make money with art, photo/video editing, but I can. I just didn't knew in how many shapes and forms there are! I also lacked the basics of business making. Or rather I wasn't interested while they tried to teach that stuff to us at uni/college. RIGHT NOW I'm not the same man I was 2 months ago. I'm much more confident with my skills 🎨 ### It's also very useful to know where your strengths are and the things you love doing. I'm for example good at teaching & love helping others. It's literally the most fulfilling thing for me. So it was just natural for me to make tutorial about things I know much about. Right now I make tutorials for artists about more tech. related topics that most artists don't know about, partially also because I love diving deep into topics that I'm interested in & post them in Twitter. To find out what YOU have in you, I highly recommend to start with this _Futur_ Video for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWO2oqSgh9OSmZI It's called _"How To Find And Do Work That You Love (Ikigai)"_

Try Flylady - it is a house cleaning system, but I find it spilling over into my everyday life. Not my house cleaning, but my time management. Keep things simple and easy to develop the consistency. Also do something at about the same time every day or at the same trigger point, and eventually you don't have to think about the behavior. You just do it. I call it stacking, others call it tagging, others call it something else - it is the idea that the habit you want to develop is done immediately after something that you know you are going to do. Like doing 10 jumping jacks after you brush your teeth. You do it until the 10 jumping jacks become automatic. You know you are going to brush your teeth. Or if you are a student, every time you hear a school bell, you take 10 deep breaths to calm your anxiety. Or to become a better singer. Also, identify your why. Why you are doing something is usually a better motivator than "oh no, I gotta do this". I want to be healthy is a better reason than "oh, dear I have to run 10 miles today." Just keep it simple and you will get there.

A lot of us, a little older, experienced that same problem. For me, it's as simple as you thinking about the subjects you had at school. Did you enjoy any particular subject more than others? And if so, within that subject, was there a specific topic that interested you the most? If so, go search a little more about that topic. Wether it is in KZbin videos from experts in those fields, books, or whatever you find helpful to comprehend the information. Then, analyze your profile as a person. Think how would you fit in such a job. Of course, intellectual characteristics, but mostly, personality traits that you regard as common throughout the varied people who work in that area of knowledge. Do you fit in? Is it something that you do not perceive as tiring after a certain time?

I just got a high-distinction for my psychology course Motivation & Emotion and that textbook is gold for understanding what motivates people to achieve goals. It is a bit of work to get through and then extract and apply the ideas but they are backed by science. You have to do that by yourself though, so that's where the creativity and true genius is - in applying it yourself to your specific situation. @pabloramella21884 жыл бұрын
Not a book recommendation but i would recommend you to start investing, if you have as you are saying 1 year worth of saving then if you coul get %15 per year in real state (its just a example) and reinvest that money until you get %100 anually of your initial investment then you are literally getting passive income to live from and quit your job without any problem while growing your networth if you keep on investing

and if you have free time to start a business then you can do it and then reinvest that money too to get faster results

Great video, as a person who often buys books and never fully reads them, this resonated. I've enjoyed listening to many audio books / KZbin videos - but, as you say, have struggled to retain all the facts and concepts presented. I've found taking notes on paper has been a great way for me to negate this. Whereas a great concept that aligns with my core values is likely to become ingrained indefinitely - so not an exact science. Grateful for the wisdom.

First find a goal to get yourself a right direction, second important thing is the process to achieve that goal as we all know winners and loosers have the same goal, 3rd the most important thing is the believe, believe is the game changer you start believe from day one that you are the type of person that you want to become to achieve the your goal take every action by telling yourself that what a person who achieved that goal will do in a particular situation and tell yourself that you are the same person when good habbits become your believe you win the game.😇

3:28 well... sometimes I get into my thoughts while reading a book, and suddenly I kind of "wake up" from my thoughts and realize that I wasn't listening (in my mind) what I was reading, and I have to go back a couple of sentences and read again paying attention this time. But I get Andrew's point. Even if that happens, I notice it pretty quickly... It's not like I would read for an hour without awareness...

Helped me a lot. If you're struggling with feeling like a victim or like everything is holding you down then it's a good and humorous primer on the principles of stoicism. I read it pretty quickly. It won't steal too much of your time. At the end of the day we lose a lot of time on shitty TV movies or videos. Not the worst thing to add a book to that list.

For me there are some gems. The idea that stuck with me was learning what to give a fuck about. Like I shouldn't get mad at this or that because I don't give fucks about it. People who get angry at trivialities are those who give way too many fucks. The less fucks you give, the easier it is for you to ignore the subject or do it. If I don't give a fuck about taking out the trash I don't mind doing it because it has no power over me. Also... i love his idea that chasing a negative experience is in itself a positive experience. Chasing a positive in itself a negative experience. I would reccomend it for people who struggle to just do things. For overthinkers and people who get angry, sad or any extreme emotion. One should never be too high or too low.

I’m doing my last year of school right now and my motivation is at an all time low. The work doesn’t interest me or peak my curiosity at all, but I need to do well to not lose my place at university. The constant fight with myself to study/work eats at me. Especially with online school, etc I just can’t focus. I feel sad when I don’t work, and bored when I do. The cycle just perpetuates. Please recommend a book for me 😔 Is there any way of forcing yourself to find something interesting? Or maybe I’m just repelled at the idea of having to memorise and be pressured?

3:23 I was waiting for the eye to blink lol Self-help books benefit only two people - the author and the reader. There is a huge difference in the distribution of benefits between the two. The author has a long term benefit, while the reader has it short term. The author gains money, fame, and ideas for the next book based on user feedback. They build on previous ideas and sell newer content. For the reader, it comes down to what they do with the book. They can either passively read it or actively use the ideas. It only helps when the reader implements those ideas and includes them as their mental models. Not all self-help books are bogus or waste of time. Someone like Andrew who has read 100 self-help books is armed with 100 different ideas. They can see a little further by standing on the shoulders on those 100 giants. Not all ideas would work, but those do work for you help you see the world differently. One percieves reality through different sides of a prism. Eventually, you can write and talk about things that the author's single vision couldn't see. Actually, I don't mean them as single vision, as these authors themselves have read authors before them and condensed many ideas to a simple technique that could solve all our problems. So, it is all condensed info. Okay, going back to what I was saying, it helps you see a little further, and develop your own ideas about the reality about the world. Ideas aren't silver bullets. They either help or don't. It's a matter of trial and error.

The power of now. Great read. Destroys every thought saying thinking about the past gives you regret and depression (except good memories) while thinking of the future gives you anticipation anxiety. But if you live in the present whilw using your past as a foundation and set a goal for your future and live in the present to start. Everything will be fine (: if it's not happening now it doesn't deserve your attention right now in this very moment.

There is no passion by itself. You just discover one by trying, failing and switching. Just choose what seems interesting and be brave enough to switch to another subject if it's not working for you despite of many time spent. And make no mistake: nothing comes natural and without an effort, even so called "passion". At least you're trying to make things right. Many people just go wherever the stream pushes them.. I myself studied math and in some moment decided that I'm not smart enough, math became really difficult, and I got dropped out. Today I'm almost 30 and I decided to go back and study math again because I was wrong, this is it, it's really hard, but it's what I must do no matter what. But before that I tried a lot of different things... I hope you'll find what you're searching for.

I 100% agree with you with audio books where the author reads it to you. That is where you can truly get the message as it was intended to be delivered because you get that passion and emotion behind each word.
