I'm already "aware" of the concept of Ikigai. I've also read about it before, but the way you phrased it and explained it made it interesting even though I already know what it is. I also like your perspective on Point #3: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Very nice!

Seriously, our working environments are so damaging and too many people are dying... or becoming mentally ill. I'm not dissing this video or anything, please understand that. I had work at many things, I’ve be owner and employer, I work alone and with many people and still this day I don’t know what I want, what’s my passion. Is very frustrating to see many people saying that the way of live is follow your passion if I don’t know what my passion. I know that I need to listening my heart but my heart don’t speak a lot.

I have multiple passions , but instead of having 3 passions at once , i have one passion at a time untill i get bored/burned out and either monkey branch to something else or gaming (if there isnt anything else to go to , i go to gaming) , gaming seems to be the only semi-consistent one , and when i am burned out on gaming , i usually burn out on basically everything else and despretly try to seek another game or passion There are my passions -Gaming , this is the most consistent and most powerful one , i guess i dont have one passion but i have gaming and another secondary passion most of the time , but sometimes it can just end up being a super passion when nothing else remains -Art (drawing) , I like drawing stuff , this seems to be the second most consistent one , it tends to for like 2-3 months i think -Running a youtube channel , but it tend to go on and off , i whould like to have any sort of consistency to my upload schedule but because i sometimes get bored/burnout , i guess my channel is kinda dead right now... -Programming , this one is usually short but intense , its like 1 week and i think i had the programming passion impulse for like 2-3 times , the longest lasting for like 2-3 weeks (i learned python basics during this time) but the others where like less than a week i think idk if its a passion as much as a intrest

The truth is, you don't 'find' a passion you BUILD one. For example, fitness is my passion and I never knew it was until I was 23 I made the decision to show up to the gym 3-5 days a week without fail and make it my lifestyle and being consistent. I wasn't passionate about it at first but I made the commitment and once you become good at something you'll want to get better and progress even further, you will surprise yourself with the progress you've made and never want to stop become of the positive feedback you get from not giving up, the progression you've made and proving to yourself that you can do whatever you put your mind to. You just to be curious, problem solve to improve and enjoy the progress. That's how you build a habit and a passion.

@@mitchelldennis4659 There are always ways to monitize a passion. Master your passion, become so good at it that other people with a similar passion would want to see you excel at it or teach, create a community and provide value to other people so that they can learn to get as good as you are at that particular passion.

I don't enjoy anything anymore, not even vice, eating, volunteering, working for things I believe in. Nothing, I have no dreams, no motivation, no will for anything. I just have bad and worse. For a long time I had it like that but I'd get lost in a moment and make things work, but not any more, I lost focus, I can dig deep into my work and lose it in few minutes. I lost joy in all things I used to love so much.

This is why I'm happy at work, but not at home where I have to write about what I'm doing at work, for my apprenticeship. I relatively often get into the flow state at work when I'm doing practical work. I'm happy when I'm doing, not when I'm writing about what I did. A necessary evil I guess. I really connected to this topic of this video, perhaps because the first principle of IKIGAI is very similar (if not the same ) to the Yoga and Meditation (which is my area of interest) term of "Samadhi" or in a simple translation as full absorption in transcendence. since transcendence is all around us it can be perceived in any activity provided we connected to that activity in transcendental consciousness. grateful that I find your channel here, great stuff , thirsty for more ...

A couple months ago youtube suggested one of your videos, so i watched it . Back then i didnt feel interested in it even though the content is original and the informations you share are really important. I really wanted to write a comment about it but I wanted to figure out the reason first . But now that i've been noticing an impovement , I realised that what made me stick with this video till the end is how much entertaining it is . The first videos demand a huge amount of concentration but now with some footage and pictures synchronized with the talk it is way easier to get the point without making so much mental effort . People should stop using this okinawa as an example, the fact they live longer than average is just a matter of their gene pool and also the law of small numbers comes into play here because it's such a small town the data gathered there is just not reliable enough. Also, the japanese are just workaholics, it's just ingrained in their culture, most people could never adhere to the japanese lifestyle because they just didn't grow up there.
@rockintelligence4 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm Japanese and I totally agree with you on that gene pool thing. They are just different. But on us being workaholic, most case is we have no choice but to work really really long hours. If we don't work long hours, most ppl can't even make enough to survive.
