The record companies are so stupid. Putting copywrite claims on free advertising. If someone mixes a track, and someone hears it and likes it, they will go buy it. Especially other dj's. They aren't loosing anything by artists using their tracks in a mix. Record companies attacking other music artists. Just stupid!!

In developing countries (and among less financially well-off groups in developed countries), hardly anyone buys genuine music, so they definitely have a good reason to copyright mixes.

@@unlearnbusiness So you think by copyrighting artists, poor people will start buying music instead of food?
@klubstompers3 ай бұрын
@@Rita_shamoun That depends on the label. Some labels dont allow any music for any reason, some allow it but take all the revenue gained, some take a percentage, some dont want you to be able to monetize it, and some small labels dont care what you do with their music.

@@klubstompers, if it's not copyrighted, or at least tracked in some way, those who don't buy music will sell it to those who buy music and cut off the record companies' income. This happens a lot with movies and music in developing countries (even local musicians and actors can hardly make a living in developing countries, since pirates cut off their income). Maybe the copyright companies should provide more flexible or creative options for sharing income from their content. Also for DJs who don't sell the music, they are actually building a brand and following using the content, which creates real financial benefits for the DJs even in situations where the use of the content doesn't produce financial benefits for the record companies.

Something you didn't mention bro! sometimes copyright claims coming up after a while , days or weeks! but my main question is so what the DJ have to do on YT?! if they can't earn money for what time they spend on creating contents! YT makes money from that revenue no matter who takes it! the DJ as a creator is the victim in this between! I believe this is the time for YT to support and recognise DJs as an exception
@klubstompers Жыл бұрын
It's up to the record companies. They are the idiots that lobbied for the laws. You can thank artists like Metallica, that fought to get these laws during the days of Napster. The record companies are blocking their own songs from being broadcast to more consumers. They are incredibly stupid. If a dj mixes a track, and someone likes it they are going to buy it, but if the dj doesnt mix that track due to copywrite conserns, then the dj's audience never hears it, and never buys it.
@Tony_2022 Жыл бұрын
I wish they find a way too but the reality is that as soon as they let djs monetize a portion by streaming dj sets there will come the scammers to create fake dj sets to fraudulently monetize. I hope they find a way though...

Oh yea, I learned all about" Copy-Right Infringement ", in Music Production, when I was goin to college for a bit. Lol.... Bahahahaha... Yea, they definitely dont take that lightly, & its been a huge problem in the" Music Industry ". I dont ever personally plan on selling my mixes, or skratch sessions, unless it's beats that I've produced myself, on " DAWS " like Ableton Live, or Pro-Tools, or Logic Pro X. Creating your own samples, & beats is harder than alot of peeps think, when doin it from scratch. I absolutely love that you have delve into this subject, cause its a great point, & a great thing to both, be aware of, & also to practice, when either mixing, or recording mixes. Shit, just to actually utilize & sample other " Artsist " tracks, if you ever plan on making any dough off your mixes, you've gotta contact the " Artists ", & ask permission, & alot of the time, pay a fee, or they mite even offer to straight sell it to you, as well too. But, id say, create your own beats, & only sample songs a little bit, if your planning on doin big things, like making any kinda money off of music. Otherwise, without the proper permission, & go ahead, if peeps catch you, or hear you makinh mixes with their tracks, your most likely gonna lose it completely to them, or, you'll just lose respect from fellow artists, & other fellow samplers, as well as probably owe money, depending on how good the track, mix, or LP ends up doin!.... True, True, awesome video Phil, havent even thought about this in awhile, thanks for the reminder my ninja, til nex time homeslice..... 🔥💯👍💪🙏🎶🎛️🌎

Hi phill, thanks for the great video. I wanted to ask you and your viewers, would you be interested in an application that can do all of that for you automatically?? Like you just select/upload the songs and it just tells you it's restrictions on KZbin? It can be optimized also to check if a custom remix or mashup would pass the algorithm as well. I'm both a DJ and a software developer so I understand both worlds
@kenkioqqo Жыл бұрын
As a musician who is also a web developer, I like how you saw this process and thought about it as an app. Happens to me a lot when I come across tedious processes. And as someone who is also thinking of DJing as a hobby and possibly go commercial in the future, I think it would be a great browser extension.
@tavtelmedia Жыл бұрын
I would definitely be interested in an app like that because I didn' really understand it anyway. I started a mix and mashup series. I'm not even wanting to monetize them. It's simply a challenge on my fb groups where ppl guess all the songs in a mashup. My channel isn't even monetized and I make it private and send the link only to members. There should be no harm that. But I got blocked on it for these samples strung together to make a 7 min mashup, But I did a 3 hrs mix last month and had no issues except restriction in countries that I don't care about anyway. There are mixes and mashups everywhere on you tube. that is what my show on my group is based on. I don't get why so many people can do it but yet I get blocked! It's all promotion for the artists anyway.

Is there a max length that you can use?

The answer i have been looking for, had a mix i put up recorded from vdj by keyboard and mouse no controller would love one but unfortunately kids cost money, made a sweet little equalizer video to accompany it about an hour after uploading it gets blocked in syria, korea and some other country, not long after that copy right claims galore, which as you know isnt realy an issue other than not being able to monetize the content, kinda soul destroying and makes you think whats the point 🤷♂️

Just curious do you ever notice that when you do all of this research work for copyright that once the mix is up (over a period of time) that it randomly gets blocked and all the copyright claims that were public are now blocked?
