Why I Talk to Many Entities [Esoteric Saturdays]

Why do I talk to many entities when it would be so easy just to speak to one? This same question gets asked in many forms in the comments of my Esoteric Saturdays videos - Why bother with angels? Why bother with demons? Why bother with the gods of antiquity and so on...
And yet I still consider myself a monotheist! And Christian at that!
This video explores how this seemingly paradoxical practice makes sense to me (and to many who hold similar views), and why I think of many strict, rule-following Christians as being far more polytheistic than me in spite of themselves!

I love this explanation. A Jesuit once told me… “how can you hope to learn about God when you’re only focused on one book, when that book has ties to other faiths and other cultures. In order to learn, you have to see his many faces throughout the world. Otherwise you’ll just see one perception. People are complex they have different personalities why wouldn’t you think God is just as complex.”

It was my godfather. When my dad and mom were struggling and working, my mother went to the church for help and met him and a nun who eventually became a part of our family. I loved him so much and thought about becoming a priest because he inspired me so much. He traveled to so many countries and studied so many religions and cultures and truly did so much help with the poor. He was kindest man I ever knew and had an empathy in him that made me look at him like a saint. I really miss him…

An excellent summation... Your last comment about Frater Acher's book, has again raised a question that keeps coming up for me: Why would anyone choose to engage in "goëtic" theurgy, and thus traffic with the demonic, when surely there are angelic and sublunary entities which can accomplish whatever one needs to accomplish? Two points, here: One, I realize I am just a newbie, and that this is probably a newbie question; and two, I also realize, Maître, that you can't answer questions from non-members, so I am asking this rhetorically. 🙏

I've always perceived the spirits that surround me, the spirits of air, fire, earth and water, the spirits of trees, rivers, lakes, mountains, houses etc. as my neighbours. They are part of our world. In the same way, I ask my human neighbour for help if my car breaks, I ask my spirit-neighbours for help if I have problems in more metaphysical matters and thank them for their help via offerings. I personally don't see how that may affect my relationship with God or Christ himself.

I can’t say I have seen or felt many spirits, but I have always a very deploy spiritual person I have always believed in magic from a very young age because I felt this pull towards it, a true calling, at a young age I also started questioning the faith I was raised with: Christianity, I was really little when I stopped believing in Santa and god both on my own. But I have never not believed in the impossible the strange and the magical. I have a friend who like me was interested in witchcraft and we’d talk a lot about stuff and they seemed to have a sort of deeper connection as well. One day I fake over to their house and they told me there were these woods near the path where they had gone and seen a water spirit and they told me it was angry and so that’s when they ran away, they told me they got a bad feeling and then the water started splashing and there was a very odd fish shadow thing they saw. So naturally I went there and I didn’t believe them entirely but I was willing to just see for myself, so I opened myself up (honestly I barely had to try) it was so clear and yet odd I can’t quite explain but the spirit communicated with me, not through words or emotions or medial images but just a transference of information like I was apart of the spirit taking apart of it so I could understand what it was saying itself was distinct from me but also apart of me when it spoke. She said to affect that it tolerated me because I came respectfully and humbly and openly, but she told me using a mixture of her emotions and my own memories how this land used to be filled with many rivers and ponds and lakes, but that over the years man had filled the lakes and re routed the water and she grew angry and bitter towards people and she seemed to say “come and look at what they’ve done and go!” she was willing only to explain herself that much and then as quickly as it had happened it was over and I left because I respected her wishes. So 3 things 1 this was my first encounter with a spirit 2 I knew it was female instinctively 3 I knew her name which I later learned means Leaping Water in a native tribal tongue. I have spent the years since then wanting to know what a spirit is It was a personal experience that I much value for having taught me something, i gave her the title in my heart of “daughter of the rains” out of respect

Why do you believe in christ? The whole point of being a magus is following your own path? Why are you bowing down to anyone?
@pleasureisgood5957
@pleasureisgood5957 Жыл бұрын
@@bestwitch2931 I think this person is reffering more to an animistic perception. In animism each thing in the world has an animus, it's like a spirit. That doesn't mean a rock will reply you if you ask, but the rock sure makes part of a bigger structure, such structure being the planet itself. In a sense we are all part of a huge organism, both the good and bad elements, we all have spirits in our own way.
@pleasureisgood5957
@pleasureisgood5957 Жыл бұрын
@@EM-xj8hy Is that really true though? Some people choose voluntary servitude to things they believe. Don't the hermetics and theurgists call upon the many names of the abrahaamic god? Don't the wiccans call upon a father god and a mother goddess? Well, I follow my own path but I can't really agree that all magus do follow their own path, I actually knew one that was as afraid of god as any classic christian.
@EM-xj8hy
@EM-xj8hy Жыл бұрын
@@pleasureisgood5957 well, there’s no point to it then. Might as well call yourself a Christian and bow down to the abrahamic false god. Or a Muslim. Or Buddhist. A magus is not supposed to be free of these shackles?! Otherwise what’s the point truly? I want one of you to answer truthfully. I’m trying to navigate this world avoiding all religious dogma and chaos magick has been the closest thing to that truth so far.

I wish I could share this with my dad. He believes I'm raising my children into "little pagans". (His words)-he has NO idea what I practice and I've decided not to inform. He brought us us Catholic and while I like the ceremonial aspect of my religious upbringing, I feel a pull to ceremonial Magick and practice that. It's the first time I've stuck with anything for this length of time. I'm grateful to just have a practice at all, before I had nothing and was spinning my wheels in a lot of broken patterns. At least there is a bit of steady progress. I appreciate your videos-always a pleasure

I'm really new to all of this... but I love to learn, and the more I learn about Magick the more I feel like a kid in a candy store. It's like pure bliss considering that new possibilities are opening up to me daily now. Life is beautiful again and this explanation helped me come to terms with the thought and knowledge that I will never understand God but to try and keep trying and learning is a life long blessing. I'm not sure if this makes a much sense to read as it makes when I think it, but Thank you Foolish Fish.

You explained your viewpoint very well and it was very easy to understand. At first I was a bit confused in the beginning of the video but watching until the end reminded me of what Spinoza might have believed. I don't know if you agree with his view of God. Personally I don't agree with your view nor Spinoza's (I consider myself a Christian), neither with the people that claim to be Christian and live in a manner that is at odds with what Christ taught. I think to an extent it's ok to feed spiritual "baby food" for some people but that's a whole different conversation, but basically it's why fellowship is so important. I really enjoy these types of Esoteric Saturdays and hope you make more. Cheers!

My magical and spiritual practice really skyrocketed; after I realized that my mind could not comprehend God. I thought I knew that but sometimes, we need to sit and be really quiet with "difficult" or incomprehensible information in order to really get something. I don't believe or disbelieve in God, I mean how could I if I can't comprehend him, I just accept everything and worship the God or Goddess in whatever aspect is relevant to the life my consciousness is experiencing.

This made me laugh so hard, the part in the beginning, "my god is better than your god". Even growing up catholic as a child I thought it was pretty ridiculous that there were so many religions and people fighting for their religions to be the right one, when we're all talking about the same thing. Even as a child the differences in religions already seemed more cultural than anything else and the only difference to me was which meat different people are allowed to eat. I loved the part about opening different valves. it's such a good metaphor. As well as if god really is all-encompassing, it makes so much sense that it would be way too much to live a normal life to experience it all at once.

I agree, tho I have always wished someone would create a compendium of the various types of spirits and how they differ. For instance, if you ask an angel to help you get a job, vs asking a demon, does one manifest faster than the other? Is an angel more likely to give you a spiritually challenging job while a demon brings you excess and indulgence? What about things like Fae? or enochian angels vs hebrew angels?... there are so many different kinds of spirits and there is a lot of overlap in their abilities, but they all seem to have unique characteristics as well. I feel like id need to live to be over 100 years old to accomplish something like that.

Peoples beliefs are personal things; so it is petty that people would click on your videos just to try to belittle them, without proper dialog. I can't argue with what you say, and agree that most of humanity currently lacks the required understanding to fit together the all the pieces of what existence is all about. I suspect people see certain things as real and material, and other things as mythical and intangible, and are not willing to adapt to any different way of thinking. I believe everything comes from one source, so everything must be related. I believe Magic, Spirituality and Science are the same thing; as are Will, Faith and Knowledge; and Ritual, Prayer and Learning. They are designed to help us reach a greater power.

This is the first of your videos that I see (Even though I’ve been subscribed to your channel for, what?, a month?, maybe more?) and even though I am not a practitioner of magick (mainly because I don’t know where to start and also because my other intellectual ambitions demand so much time it leaves me little to go deep into magick) I am very interested on it. I find your opinion about God as an all encompassing Intelligence the pervades all to corners of existence, from the highest Hight to the lowest Depth, to be just the same sense I have had for a few years now. It is so obvious, yet, whenever you bring this in polite conversation, you will be frown upon. Such a shame. Thanks for all of your inputs. I think Otto was unto something when he talked about the Mysterium Tremendum as that awe inspiring horror of divinity. Not only as Divinity itself being able to drive you into insanity if you contemplated it head on (seeing the true face of God, the true form of the Goddess as she showed herself to Arjun, etc), but also as Divinity to be found in the most putrid lows. Some saints and lay people have found such lights in the most vile places on Earth. There is truth to that saying about how you need to go deep into Hell if you want to reach Heaven.

Awesome, I recently wrote some notes on the same point in my journal as i've Been meditating on my own 'creed'. Had to comment after your remark on synthesisers - I often dream of having banks of synthesisers ☺ on those rare low times I wonder whether I should give up all the study and just express my spirituality through music. Another great video sir. Many thanks.

One could read about bad things happening to others and learn from them but there would be something missing. Its like knowing everything about swimming but never have been in the water. No one gets out of here without getting kicked in the cranberries.
