Trust me I feel you, I was you not that long ago thinking about keeping my Camaro but then I kept thinking about all the positives of the FL5 Civic Type R and now that I made the jump I'm happy I did it cause this Type R is extremely special, and I heard through the grapevine that Honda is stopping production soon so the prices on them will go up even higher than they are now, if you're able to go out and get one I'd highly advice that you do it, it's absolutely worth it.

I currently have my build of a 2SS 1LE M in route to my Dealer. Prior to ordering I thoroughly researched the cost of gas, tires, regular scheduled maintenance prior to placing my build back in January When it comes time to spend the money I’m prepared. I’ve always wanted a Camaro, so glad I’ll soon have it in my garage for keeps. I’m in it for the long haul, especially happy I won’t have to pay the high premiums on the 2024 Camaro. Thanks for the video. I just drove a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE with the manual for the first time and really liked it. Tons of power and love the sound. It looks mean, too. I was leaning towards that, but after watching your video, I’m back towards the CTR. Overall, I think the Honda will age better and is more special of a car. I wish I could own both!

The Camaros are going for good money right now with low mileage. But once they’re over 40k miles the price drops significantly. At least by me. I’m looking at the 1LE or an LT1 but really thinking about going to another golf R. German and way cheaper to maintain than the Camaros by the sound of it

Nice car, but as a Camaro 2SS owner, I could never. I'm sure the Civic is cool but the Camaro is a dedicated sports car. The Alpha chassis is one of the best engineered performance platforms on sale today. I'm holding on to my Camaro is long as I can as its the last of its kind.

I'm right there with you, I feel like if I would have gotten a 2SS I would have held on to it cause you get all of the features without having the crazy upkeep of the 1LE features like 2k to replace tires and 5k to replace brakes and rotors.

@@RaceCarFriends yeah, the 1LE is overkill on the street. If you plan to track your car, you know you'll need to spend a lot on brakes and tires and it'll be worth it. Plus, it makes sense to learn to wrench yourself when owning these types of cars, you'll save a ton and it really isn't that hard. Brake jobs are some of the easiest to do on a car and you'll slice your costs almost in half.

Oh we got more brothers finding the JDM gems... haha I like it! THis is the area that the GR Corolla missed and that's with COLORS! Man do I wish we were able to get any shade of blue. But speaking to what you mentioned about the switch from a Camaro, many people miss the fact that these cars perform and are EASY to maintain and live with. The aftermarket support is phenomenal and only your bank account is the limiting factor for how far you can go. Lol. Amazing car, subscribed to your channel and look forward to the content!

Camaro is not a daily and shouldn’t be compared as such. It is a fun garage kept nice weather and track car. I own a 22 2ss 1le and will be keeping it for a long time. Keep in mind that it can be pushed to a reliable NA 600 whp with a head/cam package running on E85. I also don’t believe that the speed feel is better in the Civic. Front wheel drive and torque steer is not fun.

I agree with you, the thing with this Type R though is that you really don't feel any torque steer, I don't know how they did it but this car is like an engineering marvel you have to drive one and really push it to understand what I'm talking about.

These have no torque steer. They claw thru turns. Probably better then the camaro. Look up the nurburgring times of the previous gen type r. It beats alot of rear wheel drive sports cars. The camaro is better in a str8 line. That's about it.

All the reasons you mentioned for trading in the Camaro for the Type R are real; for me my daily is a 2.0T Accord and the maintenance for the Honda is WAY cheaper than my ZL1/1LE, but since it’s not my daily I can comfortably afford the maintenance. That Type R in boost blue is 🔥. Apart from that though, I disagree with your opinion about future values for the Camaros though-regardless of GM discontinuing the 6th gens. after 2024; as long as the Camaros are maintained with reasonable mileage the values will hold. Once most car offerings are electric the demand for V8’s will hold.

I agree the value's will hold if GM keeps producing crate motors and parts for these vehicles in the future, but if you look at the values of the Z28 they have started to drop because it's hard to find parts for them now, I was worried the same thing will happen with the more rare Camaro's like the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE, I think the regular SS and Lt1's will be fine but like I said in the video I feel like the Zl1's and SS 1LE's will end up being rich people cars as there probably wont be a lot of support for them later on.

@@RaceCarFriends that would be true,if the LT4 was not in the CTSV’s third generation and the Blackwing ; plus the C6-Z06, so I think there will be on going support for the Camaro moving forward; the Z/28 LS7 was only in it and the C5 Z06 if I’m not mistaken,which is why there was less support; but ultimately you could probably find support for those as well. But in terms of practicality the Type R is more than enough car for all legal speeds on public streets and highways-plus with two little children it just makes sense. I drive my Honda WAY faster than I could get away with in the Z. And with the Type R engine from the FK8 Type R it’s more than enough fun…but it ain’t no ZL1 😁

It's has everything the camaro has also, but in a long-term honda will have the same cost as the camaro cause all auto pieces come from Japan. I had one and I change for a camaro, and on honda not everyone can repair but camaro is American you can drop at any shop they will be able to touche it .

Loving the content man! idk if your familiar with the popular street racing anime called Initial D but in the anime, they race all type of JDM cars up and down twisty roads on mountains. The style of racing is called Touge racing. If you have some empty twisty roads near you, I would like to see Touge style racing (or spirited driving) with the Type R on twisty roads like the Touge racing battles in Japan (if possible). The camaro is my first American, first v8, first RWD so definitely different I love the sound and how nice the ride is but I do miss how nimble the type R was and it was better on gas lol but the biggest thing I miss is the manual I got the A10 camaro. But I messed up myself in the airforce and the manual was getting to be a bit much for my daily some days it hurt like hell to drive it.

@@donniewebb1792 Trust me when I tell you that the Civic Type R is more special than the SS Camaro, not sure about the ZL1 or ZL1 1LE though, I had my car for three years while having an STI and a truck and I was able to maintain it just fine, I had a brake protection package to cover my brakes and rotors etc. but it's just the thought of it costing that much, and then not having usable back seats, or being able to fit things in the trunk, and all the blind spots that made me decide to go with the Type R, The Type R drives very similarly to the ZL1 1LE as far as handling and chassis feel, so for a 4 door 4 cylinder car to feel that way trust me the Type R is a very special car, if you have the opportunity to drive an FL5 Type R drive it and you'll see what we're talking about, there's Porsche GT3 owners that are saying that the FL5 Type R's are some of the best vehicles they have ever driven, if you drive one you'll understand.

Lol not trying to sell anyone just telling the truth from my perspective, I'm happy with the switch, you gotta remember this was my 5th Camaro I've had 2 different SS 1LE's and I've had SS's and even a turbo 4 Camaro before, I'm just ready to try something new, I got tired of the same platform, I'll buy another Camaro probably a ZL1 and keep it in the garage as a weekend car later on but for now I'm excited to explore the Type R platform and see what it's capable of.

I can't disagree with you stock for stock, but even in stock form the Type R is no slouch and the fact that Honda is still pushing their Type R brand while GM took a poop on the Camaro is a huge part of the reason why I switched brands.

I can understand you feeling that way but the reality is that I had my Camaro for three years while also owning a Subaru STI and a Toyota Tacoma and I afforded it just fine, I'm just at a point now where I'd rather have something that's easier to live with day to day and take the extra money I'd be spending on maintenance on mods etc. Also just to let you know the Type R is a lot more expensive than the Camaro payment wise lol.

A fully loaded type R cost $52k msrp. My 2023 Camaro 2SS $55k not sure how your Honda is more expensive. Stop the Cap

@@49ersyungjung45 Lol you forget that even going back to 2016 all these Type R's are being sold at 20k over MSRP due to them being so rare, then add in how crazy the car market has been and you'll find some greedy dealers selling theirs for 25k over, the dealership where I bought mine was selling theirs for 15k over, so yeah it's more expensive plus I bought a brand new Subaru WRX Limited a week later for 43K, so trust me it's not the price of owning the SS 1LE that drove me away from it, it's an amazing vehicle pound for pound it's one of the best performance cars you can get for the money, I'm just at a different stage of my life where I have a wife and 3 kids and I prefer to have more practicality over power.

@@RaceCarFriends I’m sorry to say but you let the dealership screw you. I live in California. The dealership I bought my car from wanted a 15k mark up. I told them I would drive to the furthest city or state to find the car I want for the price I want to pay and I left that dealership with my car without paying any mark up fee. You gotta know how to negotiate. Just because you paid more doesn’t mean the car is worth what you paid. You got worked unfortunately.

@@49ersyungjung45 Yup you're probably right there because my friend that owns a dealership checked to see what my car is worth to a dealership right now and it's only worth $51,000 to $53,000 trade in allowance and they will turn around and sell if for 55k to 60k.

LMAO I dunno I was able to beat a Scatpack Widebody 392 in a dig race with the Type R already and there's a ton more features on the Type R than the Camaro and pretty much all of the muscle cars so I'm not sure if it's backwards, I do love the sound of a V8 though so I'm looking to add a ZL1 to the channel soon as well.

SMOKING! the FL5 looks boring and for old dads, the Camaro easily wins in looks. and then saying modding and tuning the FL5 can make it beat the Camaro, but stock vs stock and modded vs modded the Camaro wins compare apples to apples not oranges
