I couldn't agree more I use that device every day. I can sketch my ideas immediately every time I think of something. In the past, sometimes I had an idea but didn't have paper or a survey next to it. Now I always carry my iPad with me, whenever I have an idea, I take it out and save it.

I prefer Morpholio Trace as it can quickly allow you to draw to scale..no working out squares on a screen..

Ok, I use them both as well. It would be nice to have a more in depth review of the pro an cons of the two apps. You make good videos so this would be much appreciated.

I don’t use trace much either now. Although, I use the paper app... It is very sketchy, allows you to import existing photos, (which already have vanishing points established for perspective drawings) and organizes your work in custom digital sketchbooks. Great app!

Thanks for the recommendation Joshua, I'd have to try it out some day! Cheers.

I’m an architect. I’m thinking of getting an iPad for this reason. I like the idea of the size of an 11inch. How big a difference do you think the 12.9inch makes?

Do you recommend the iPad Air or the iPad Mini ? As a notepad bringing to worksite meetings and tracing possibilites in the office ?
@HenryGao2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I wouldn’t recommend getting iPad mini. Screen is too small to do anything productive. Forget about sketching. It’s like sketching on a napkin.

would u like to show me ur workflow using morpholio ?

I am confused by the scale in Trace, there is an option when you set up a page that allows to chose the scale, then they give an option to scale with the ruler of by setting up a grid.. why all the confusion?
@HenryGao3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought that was confusing too, more helpful if you go through their own tutorials on this. I might do more in depth review of the two app. Thanks for finding my work in the meantime

Do you then take your designs and redraw in ACAD or Revit? Your sketches are so nice and detailed do clients feel they are too polished to make changes? I love the iPad and I am using it as trace but still learning the ropes. Thank you for the videos
@HenryGao2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Personally, I don’t move to Autocad until the client has essentially signed off on the design in the sketched format. That’s because I am able to do this with very high accuracy as I am drawing. If a client wants to see a small change reflected (on plan, elevation, or perspective), instead of starting the drawing from scratch, I can just edit my drawing in that localized area on a separate layer, which just takes a fraction of the time. When I do transfer to a computer, it’s a matter of drafting the design out with annotations and dimensions. Of course, Autocad or Revit is often required because it is going to give me a much higher level of precision that’s needed for custom construction. But the fundamental strategy is to do all the design work on the Pad first because that’s just MUCH faster than designing on the computer. I think most older generation of architects agrees, I am just conducting this on a digital surface instead of actual paper.

Personally I think space planning sketching is not exactly the most ideal thing when you having the tendency of zoom in and out on ipad. Therefore the sense of proportion and scale may get confused and messed up. Not recommend for architecture/ interior designer beginner or student to use ipad in the first place. Nothing beat hand sketches. But for those with experience and stay long enough in the industry, ipad is the exact tool to save your time. Cheers
@HenryGao2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nhat, I very much agree! Key is to learn how to sketch well on paper first, then the iPad can become a tool in a professional setting.

Hello, I really enjoyed the video and learn so much from it. Just curious do you think sketching apps like procreate standardize sketching and erase personal sign from our sketches?
@oblomovbyoblomov90943 жыл бұрын
Also, thank you for the video :)
@HenryGao3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not! Sketching is so personal, even if you use the exact same brushes as me, I bet your sketches will look different than mine, unless it's your goal to copy my style...in that case, keep watching my videos. Thanks friend!
@oblomovbyoblomov90943 жыл бұрын
@@HenryGao Thank you for the answer! I didn't use procreate nor morpholio so I don't know the process. I wish I can copy your style but that requires high level talent :)
