Why I Usually Don't Order Drinks at Restaurants

Drinks, including soft drinks like soda, and alcoholic drinks, often have a huge mark-up in restaurants. Soda often costs $1-2 for a glass, and offers empty calories, something most people don't need. Alcohol often costs $3-10, depending on the drink. I explain that refraining from ordering drinks when you go out to eat, or ordering only free / included drinks like water, or tea in Asian restaurants, can save you a ton of money and also be good for your health. You can then enjoy pricier alcoholic drinks at home for a fraction of the cost.

I agree and I also much prefer to "not drink" my calories as I would not have a beverage with my meal if I ate at home. I almost always prefer the water.

they charge more for that drink in my opinion, such a rippoff. if the food is really good, at least I'm paying for something with quality, but for a soda, no thanks.
