Why I've Been Silent About the Ravi Zacharias Scandal

Ravi Zacharias was an international Christian apologist who, sadly, was discovered to have lived a double life. This discovery does not in any way take away his contribution to Christian apologetics although it does demand our attention. Many have asked me why I haven't posted on this subject and so I wanted to take this time to explain the reason behind my silence and my thoughts concerning Ravi Zacharias.

I thank you for this video and how transparent you are. Many of us are too ashamed to admit to the inequalities in our souls because of a fear of being judged by mankind and not restored within the Christian Church. James 5:16 reminds us to '...confess our sons to one another...' Ravi was very influenced scholarship and was a great resource when it comes to Christian Apologetics. This one really stung!

Amen, especially these days where sin is justified, minimized and covered. If someone had exposed him sooner it might have saved his soul and prevented a lot of collateral damage. Allen, I am crushed. When I was an atheist, I was "too smart" to be a "dumb Christian". I eventually reached out to God while at my rock bottom. He responded and I sought to pursue Him. In that pursuit, Ravi so eloquently answered all of my questions and doubts. He helped me see that Christianity isn't dumb after all and that I wasn't as smart as I thought I was. Now, I am absolutely beside myself. I looked up to Ravi and couldn't imagine a better person. How it is that someone such as himself could be so sinister behind the scenes is scary. How can I ever look at any other speaker and trust that they are someone who is not also wicked? Ironically, because of Ravis teachings, I know not to lose faith in God right now. But, I would be lying if I said that this hasn't shaken me to my core.

Peter you are in my prayers. If you read the story of David you will see a boy become man, man becomes a king. When his story starts out he is just a simple shepherd boy tending his father's sheep. Jesse's youngest boy who like spending his time singing and playing his instruments for sheeps. Nothing impressive at all but if we look behind the scenes we see God training him up to ve protector and leader. He defeated Goliath by relying on God for his strength. Later he would be defeated by lust by lying aside his faith for flesh. As a father he fell way short as we see in the interactions between his children, he was even on the run from one of his sons. I bring all this up to say God spoke of David as a man after His own heart. David was never above repenting, he actually became and exoert at it. So as we listen to people of faith remember they all have a sin nature as we do that has to be fought daily. The only person that ever should reign on any pedestal is our Lord and Saviour Jesus. He will never ever fall short, make us regret our decision to follow Him. I love you young man and jusy keep your eyes on Christ

Even I've being trying to make sense of all the findings uncovered about Ravi's acts 'cause I've also learned a lot about the nature of God, the passion of Jesus and the works of The Holy Spirit through his sermons which have immensely helped me grow as a believer. Now, I realise this is just one instance, much like the many that we've learned from the lives of David, Solomon, Samson, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, et al., where God wants to shake us up & remind us not be swayed by the charisma or the individuality of His servants, which, I fear & admit, has led to unintentional idolatry* for many believers, including myself and draw us back to the one, absolute fact that it is ultimately Jesus Christ, alone, that we should trust with our heart & soul, completely & unequivocally upon; now and for the rest of all the pleasant & the tragic events that we'll experience in a lifetime. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12. *When the devil cannot take you completely away from God, he will try to distort your image of who God really is. Let us stay on guard prayerfully. The times have never been more compromising.

Christianity is how we learn more about Christ through our relationship with Him; to learn His word, to fellowship with others of the same heart, to pray, to serve, to worship, to love others, etc. Do we know that Ravi was a false teacher? I don't know, but I am sure that if he was, he would've been held accountable by those in his ministry. He chose to take this sin to his grave. It is unfortunate. Praying for those who are unbelievers, those who see another Christian leader that was this influenced by the world.

However, we are to hold accountable the leaders in the church: "Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. I Timothy 5:19‭-‬20" Also I desagree with you when you say that Ravi Zacharias fall into sin...hebdidn't fall into sin... he choose to live in sin, its totally different than falling and repanting. He knew what he was doing, he had a predatorial approach and used his position of authority to get what he wanted from women, even used his faith in God to justify his actions...horrific actions... We must speak and denounce his horrific behaviour while praying for the victims, his family and ministry. For him, we can not do anything anymore, he will be judge in the day of wrath like the rest of us. We can only hope that he sincerely repanted before God before he died...

Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf. The Holy Spirit prays for us when we are just too worn out to even frame our words. Amen!....and the wife being a victim also. A husband who is living a secret double life, that is exposed after his death, is so incredibly sad! My prayers begin with her. Many elders and leaders refuse to believe a Christian woman when she comes to them with concerns, usually because the husband appears so charming. When I heard the news I was so heartbroken. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me that my Heavenly Father is heartbroken over my sin as well. Those feelings I had were replaced with conviction for my own failures. Ravi was a man and a sinner just like me. God was not surprised by his sin when he stepped into glory. Thank you for your wise counsel in praying for those left behind with the consequences of Ravi's actions. Our leaders need our prayers so much more because satan attacks them the hardest.

All I did was flip on KZbin and this story came up. He impacted my teenage daughter's walk with Christ at the Passion event in Atlanta. And understand, even though he was a sinner, as we all are, it doesn't mean that God didn't use him, doesn't mean that he didn't preach the word. Don't let yourself feel that you were pulled in by a false prophet. Yes, what he did was horrific, but just a God's grace is for us, it was for him, too. He should have taken a step back when he got too caught up in his sin, and that is where he didn't take that step of redeeming himself. Stay in the Word, continue to fellowship with others in Christ, pray often, and be a great example for Christ.

He was a brilliant apologist and it's a shame his sin will now mar the work and the legacy he would have left behind. Many have pointed out that truth is truth and when he conveyed truth, that will always remain. He was such a mentor to me in my faith. I was so unbelievably grieved when all of this came to light. This hurt more than his passing and I felt a terrible loss when he passed. I pray for his family. I pray for the victims. I pray for God to bring restoration.

From what I have read, and that isn't too much because it's hurtful, he was able to keep his lives separate. There was significant effort spent on avoiding accountability. His ministry was very much in the dark until the time the accusations starting coming out. How they responded after he settled with the one lady in 2017, I don't know. But apparently, no one felt he needed monitoring later on. He was a wordsmith. I'm sure he was very smooth. We see these persuasive skills on display during his performances. Unless his ministry was actively looking for something rotten, I can understand them not knowing.

As far as Ravi being a wordsmith who was able to keep others at bay, it says in Proverbs that WHEN WORDS ARE MANY TRANSGRESSION IS NOT LACKING (Proverbs 10:19). In the past I tried watching some of RZ's messages and I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes because he spent so much time dropping names, talking about his travels, etc. etc. To me he seemed more interested in impressing his listeners than bringing the gospel to them. I think that among the dangers of apologetics is that one can fall in love with having knowledge for knowledge's sake. Also falling in love with the sound of one's clever debating voice. Both are forms of idolatry. Knowledge puffs up but love builds up. Paul didn't preach the gospel with eloquent speech lest the cross be emptied of its power. (1 Corinthians 1:17)

I’ve been praying since November for ravi’s wife and kids. Especially since February 12. I watched my mom find out she didn’t know the man she was married too. So I’ve been burden for Margie. I pray for the victims but feelings really burdened for his wife and kids.

When I came back to my faith a couple years back Ravi was one of my apologetics heroes. The things he said and talked about aided in crushing some of the lingering doubts I had about God. I was shocked to hear about the scandal, and then for it to be proven true was pretty heavy.
