So sorry to hear about that unfortunate experience. I just visited Uganda after many years abroad. While filming one time with a body-cam, I saw the police pointing at our car and I told the driver to RUN!!! I had a similar experience in the past and had to pay so much money to get away from them as they wanted to arrest us for taking pictures. This time around I was recording in secret, one officer asked what was that, referring to my body-cam and I said that’s our GPS!!! We need prayers! They treat us like animals, I don’t know how people survive nowadays living in that much fear and anxiety.

Wow! I will be traveling to East Africa. Thanks for the heads-up. I’m sure everyone is relieved to know that you weren’t jailed or mistreated. This is an eye-opener for all travel KZbinrs: do your research before you travel. Also, make sure your embassy is aware of your presence in the country. I recall one time at a border crossing when an immigration officer tried to bully me into giving him money, which he called “chai.” I refused, and he then claimed that I had overstayed and needed to pay a fee. I told him I had no money and asked to use a phone to call the British High Commission. The moment I mentioned that, he waved me through! It’s shocking that many of these officials are so underpaid that they rely on tourists to supplement their salaries.

A few months ago I was traveling for a burial in the countryside on a Saturday morning,I was shocked when a traffic policeman stopped and accused us of not having stopped at the traffic lights. It was such a bluntant lie that we refused to pay the 600000,he was demanding,then he began to threaten us with arrest and I didn't bugge. Anyway we ended up giving the guy 300000 coz one of us wanted us to reach in time for burial.It was a lie, plunder and injustice put together, there's however a higher Authority who judges righteously. Sorry about what happened to you brother, Uganda security and Museveni are not only a problem to Uganda but to the entire Africa. Ugandans are the most hospitable people however,since police and military are all working for Dictator Museveni, and are always misbehaving, they are so afraid of cameras. They also hate civilians having internet that’s why they made it so expensive, cut off Facebook. Uganda tourism board would rather spend billions in buying hotels for workshops, in a disguise of promoting tourism however, they can never talk about the mistreatments and torture police and military do to Ugandans and their national and international tourists. It’s really a pity!
