Bent my iPad, broke my iPhone, had the battery replaced, apple care saved me an arm and a leg. It also just made replacement super easy cause they give out a new device 9 times out of 10. Then you can resell it later on.
@Joshtheweatherman9 ай бұрын
Battery replacements are completely free, front or back glass is $30 deductible versus $200+ at a repair shop. Accidental damage is $99 (they’ll more than likely replace your entire phone if parts cost exceeds the device value), and theft or loss is $149 deductible (they’ll definitely replace your phone then). It’s definitely worth it in the long run. Now if you get the cheapest iPhone, for example, the SE, then it might not be worth it since that phone is really cheap to get repaired.

My partner has broken her iPhone 13 Pro Max's screen TWICE in the last 3-4 months (case but no screen protector); thankfully she has AppleCare. I think getting it is pretty individualized based on the person's individual clumsiness. Also I think her having the max phone makes her more prone to dropping it. I also have applecare on my iPhone 13, but sometimes question keeping it for that reason because I think I've only broken one screen from all the smart phones I've ever owned. Thankfully, Apple makes it pretty easy to cancel/get a partial refund if you feel like you don't need it anymore or the price doesn't justify "protecting" it anymore.

My girlfriend is always dropping her phone. We're talking a few times per week. Mostly these aren't an issue because she has a protective case & screen protector but you can pretty much guarantee she'll break the screen every 18 months. I drop mine maybe once per year, and I've only ever broken the screen on my phone once. Her phones also experience far more problems than mine do, I liken it to boxers getting repeated sub-concussive brain injuries. Given it's a one price for all, it makes a lot more sense for her to be insured than me. However, we get phone insurance through our bank so can each get a single repair/replace (so covers catastrophic damage, so long as we still have something recognisable as having once been a phone) for £50, then anything above that is £100. So I have a 20% chance of using it, and if I do use it it only saves me £25, so an estimated value of £5 for the 2 year cover period (okay maybe slightly higher given I could drop it multiple times, but somewhat unlikely). Given it costs £199, it's a terrible value proposition for me.

@the_letter_b Жыл бұрын
Agreed, well, depending on what Apple product you have and the plan cost. If you get an SE or an older model phone (new), it may not be worth it if you're generally pretty good about not damaging your phone. But if you have the newest line, especially the pros, I think it is. If you look at the repair costs without AC for the new Pros, they are quite high. One front or back glass screen break could cost more than a year's worth of AC. Even the theft version may be worth it for the newest Pro model as the new design makes it stand out a bit more, whereas regular 14 and older models look similar going back to iPhone X. Similar for higher end MacBooks. iMacs may be fine since they are going to be sitting on a desk. The AppleCare for the AirPod Pros is even more reasonably priced and probably worth it, greatly reduces the cost of getting replacements if anything happens to them. And yeah, of course these companies do the math and set a price where they will likely profit overall from it but from our perspective, we do not know if we'll be one of the unlucky ones and without it, you will feel a lot more pressure to be careful unless you're doing well financially or someone else pays for it (company or parents).

At a high level insurance exists for profit so the expected value of a policy has to be negative. However there can be some efficiencies associated with the repair process, and they effectively sell you the repair at cost. Plus depending on your individual experience with phone - if you are clumsy and have broken phones in the past, I certainly have - you have some information the insurance company doesn't (in insurance this is called "adverse selection" and why if you are a careful person it probably isn't a good deal)

No AppleCare sounds good until you go to the store and they tell you something that would be covered for free costs $600 without. At that point, I bought a new MacBook and purchased Applecare for 3 years.

Also, Apple has a history of not covering or fixing computers that were killed by their own manufacturing defects. For example, there was and still is a hardware defect in some Macs which results in 9 volts being sent straight into it's SSD, destroying it and the computer as a result (since the SSD cannot be replaced), and despite this being 100% the fault of a manufacturing defect, Apple has and continues to not cover it under warranty. In other words, without doing anything wrong, your Mac at any moment can destroy itself in a way Apple will refuse to take responsibility for and fix, so the only way to protect yourself from this is by purchasing Apple Care +.

Just take the money you would have spent on AppleCare and put it in a separate debit card. You have it for a rainy day if you need repairs or a new device in the pinch. If you don't need repairs you get to keep it.. almost always, you lose money in the long run by paying the juice for this AppleCare. That's why Apple sells it. You're spending a couple hundred bucks a year even on yours when you're not breaking anything. If you go back and do the math and keep track of all the deductibles and the monthly expenses on the Apple Care, I guarantee you you're losing out

So, GUYS! Help me out. I always buy an otterbox case for my iphones. Otterbox Defender. And a screen protector. So, that's the one I have for my current 14 Pro Max. I got me the 1TB version because i wanted a lot of memory to last me a long time without needing to upgrade. My prior phone was the 12 Pro Max 128gb and same thing; I had the Ottberbox Defender & screen protector. During the 2yrs or so with my 12, it literally only cracked the screen protector just once. But i never replaced it since it was just the screen protector lol Mind you with some of the work I do , my phone can drop from High places like a ladder or scaffold, or slips from my pockets or kinda toss it on tables lol a bad habit of mines (not clumsy tho lol) but that case protected it so well. Even my old iPhone 8, same thing otterbox and screen protector and that one never cracked or anything. So, with the 14, I'm thinking of getting AppleCare+, mainly to have it for a battery replacement ? Worth it? my 12 pro max was getting annoying since i had to be charging it 2x a day, and my whole World like revolves being on my phone always. Plus it ran out of memory too But would applecare+ be worth it for battery? the damages and unlimited repairs doesn't really wow me given my case that i use (i'm the paranoid guy who never wants to use slim cases despite how much more you can appreciate the beautiful iPhone lol) Seems you still have to pay for the battery anyways with applecare+, so idk? So, curious to hear everyone's thought here?

I just bought a 14 pro max yesterday. I didn’t get apple care but now thinking I should. I had an 8 plus for 5 years with a case and screen protector. Dropped it more times than I can count. Shattered the screen protector only once which was just 2 months ago. But I do get scared something could happen not related to dropping it.

The thing is guys that those that can afford apple care + can also easily afford a new phone should it go missing or break, the probable fact is that those who are wealthy enough to take out insurance are already careful and have been well educated about money, tax and insurance so Simple fact is if your poor you can’t afford AppleCare and if your phone breaks tough luck 🤷🏼♂️

first time macbook user here, with regards to apple care + do you feel the same for a 14 inch m3 macbook pro? only wondering since its $279.99 for 3 years while an out of pocket battery replacement's estimated cost is $249 (before any possible hidden fees and overtime price increase).

Dayo. Really good subject. Like you I don't tend to get Apple Care insurance on my apple products. I always keep my iPhones and iPads in a case with screen protector. I'm pretty careful with them as well. However, I have friends who always get Apple Care + as they feel it's worth the extra peace of mind. I respect both views.

My sisters ex boyfriend works for Apple from the house, he told us that apple care isn't worth it, this was a very long time ago he said this, I don't think or can't remember if he said it's a scam, and not worth getting. I mean I take very good care of my shit, so I don't think I need it, but you never know.

Nah nah, your warranty doesn't cover fire damage. And AppleCare only does 1 replacement every 6 months. You have to buy smartphone or home + devices/posessions insurance. As long as it's not an american insurance company

Hi! Good video, good vibes! I've been thinking of buying a NEW SEALED 2022 MacBook Air M2 which would have the 1 year limited Apple warranty. Considering that I normally don't take my laptop out of home, I move it only from my desk to the kitchen counter and back after using, and I'm very careful with my phone, tablets and laptops, would it be worth it to still get additional AppleCare+ extended coverage..? Or is the included 1 year limited Apple warranty good enough..? How likely is it really for a 2022 MacBook Air M2, that is NEW SEALED when I receive it, to have any functionality issues within the first three years, to malfunction on its own during that time...? Thanks for your time!

@oSportify8 ай бұрын
For me it wasn't worth it. I was paying monthly since I got my iPhone 12 Pro. I did the math $13.49 a month and I spent over $500 on AppleCare+ with theft and loss. I've always been careful with my things. After 3 years, today I got the battery replaced and the speaker it was covered with AppleCare. It would've costed me $218 if I didn't have it, but I would've rather paid the $218 than the $500 it cost me over the years. I cancelled it, I won't be buying it for my next phone. If you're someone who's careful, it's a waste of money. And if that rare instance happens you crack your phone, it might be cheaper to get it fixed that one time. Also a new battery is like $89, still cheaper than what you would pay on AppleCare. Not worth it unless you have the money for it or have a history of losing or breaking things.

Yeah, this explanation makes little to no sense. "Oh I don`t need because I am super careful". Accidents are unexpected. It will eventually fall and may brake, when that day comes you will probably think back and wish you had it. It is eithar that, or you have enough money to get a new device without caring about the broken one.

I totally agree, spending the money on any of these types of insurance plans generally are a waste of money. I have all Apple devices because I feel in most cases they perform better, and I love the continuity between devices. Depending on where you purchase your devices some retail stores will offer free extra coverage. Costco is one of them for Apple laptops, so no way does it make sense to spend extra money on Apple Care/Plus in that situation.

Hello :-) Just stumbled upon your video. I'm from Germany and i am currently thinking about apple care plus. Background: I want to get myself a Macbook Pro 2023 16" M2 Max 64GB 1TB within the next few days or weeks. It will be the most expensive product i have ever bought from apple by far. I am pretty scared of a damage within the second, third, etc. year. Should i go for apple care plus or maybe speak with my household insurance? I have no clue and are probably overthinking... Could you give me any advice? Thanks and kind regards!

It is funny because I see all these comments. I have had apple products for at least 10 years+ and I have never used Apple Care. None of my devices have ever broken. I am thinkin gabout changing my macbook for the latest model as mine has 10 years old and still going. I am not sure about spending almost 500 dollars mroe for insurance on an already expensive device.

They say stuff isn't built to last anymore, but I think Apple products still hold up fairly well, so you should get another decade out of a laptop
