I'm 37, unmarried and no children. I'm an old soul in mind. I had pets throughout my life and have buried all of them with my bare hands. Somewhere in the middle, living with my pets, watching birth and death again and again, I started wondering about fundamental things that will scare other people.
@12villages2 жыл бұрын
I wont go into details but my theory is that we are like fish living in someones aquarium. Life literally has no purpose but to exist. Else the owner of the aquarium will replace the space with someone else, for his/her amusement. My pet birds frantically reproduced to be in existence. There is no one standing at the end of the race with a champions trophy to be awarded to the great great(n) progeny. There is something on this planet that makes life possible. Some energy that is able to occupy matter and turn it into an organism. You see, an organism has to eat another organism to continue existing. The law is rigged by the creator(I don't call it god) itself.

When I searched about it I was thinking that I am the first person who thinks like this. But after watching your video I understood that anyone can reach this conclusion if they think neutrally. According to me when a newborn baby came to existence he/she feels very much pain because of this they cry a lot. When they became little older their parents give them little tasks forcefully that they don't want to do. I'm a single boy so I am very happy that I understood this concept now otherwise I will have to be regretted.

Call me selfish, but after working hard for decades, I'd really want to use that money on myself and my partner, without having to worry about someone else's career, etc. Currently, I take care of some stray animals and intend to use those savings for the same in the future. Coming to the accumulated wealth, I'd happily donate it to be used for social work or give it away to friends and family. I absolutely see no point in getting a new life in existence, considering where the world is headed. The issue of giving birth to sentient life is quite deep. Even if your future child gets to live an amazing life, think about your grand children, great grand children and possibly millions of potential descendants who just may not lead a good life. It's just not worth it. The biggest hurdle that arises while accepting this idea by someone is the natural implication that their parents and ancestors were wrong. For many that fact might be too hard to bear. But they need to distinguish the act of procreation and parenting separately and respect/condemn them separately. I suffer from Asperger's Syndrome, speech impediment and have a high possibility of developing Schizophrenia in the later stages of my life. Due to these reasons, it was comparatively easier for me to realize and accept this truth. I hope more people think about procreation before it's too late.

If you are able to clarify yourself on following points please clarify yourself...... 1) Can you guarantee that your child will be healthy at the time of birth or will remain healthy till his/her whole life ? 2) Can you guarantee that your child will not get any dangerous disease in future like Corona which may not only cause death but may give deadly suffering pain as well..? 3) Can you guarantee that your child will not born as transgender , etc? 4) Can you guarantee that your child or his/her future generations will not get affected by any man made disasters such as murder, rape, kidnapping, terrorism, civil war, nuclear war, accidents ,etc....? 5) Can you guarantee that your child or his/her future generations will not get affected by any natural disasters like tsunami, flood, hurricane, earthquake, volcano, lightning stroke, landslide, cloudburst, etc, etc .....? 6) Let all these aside, DO YOU HAVE GUARANTEE OF YOUR OWN LIFE? suppose parents give birth and if both parents get died in accident or something who will be responsible for child nourishment and his/her whole life.....? 7) Last but not the least if your child started to think deeply and ask these questions to you what will be your answers......??? If you are talking about pessimism but we called this reality analysis where we can't ignore these all facts with our naked eyes... Almost all humans are making children just because all other are doing but no one is ready to think why we are doing this....? Do you have any stronger reason to bring child in such environment....? Don't give bullshit answers like to sustain mankind and etc, animals are doing same that they are sustaining their species by procreating, but we human are the only higher consciousness animal which can think at higher level, so please use that......... And also don't tell to improve society we are bringing child, here there is no guarantee of tomorrow and you may say about improvement in mankind.... In fraction of second any asteroid may come and may destroy earth then no mankind will left on earth.......

Congrats on 50k subscribers Maddy!! I understand your point, and it was a mind blowing presentation and visuals I believe Developing nations should adopt the ways from Western Countries in raising a child, instead of caring their children too much after 18 years of age.. We need to consider them as an independent individual and let them do whatever they love to do and ask them to stand on their own foot financially (Education Loan) as well which will make them more responsible, by this way it'll be a win on win situation for both parents and children. We also should not interfere in their personal interests and avoid thinking them as our post retiral assets... Governments should enforce strict regulations to encourage 1 child policy so that we can reduce Carbon footprints and population burst in the coming years. Non biological children is a good idea, society needs more insights and be self-aware that this is the wonderful way to get parenting experience if agreeing on author's point of view. No offense... Just my perspective
@Kayash_Kino2 жыл бұрын
western countries have more demographic of parents who provide every type of cushion to children until they have gone through college. unbacked education loan is a big scam western countries have played on their youth do look it up. Indian do need to think really hard about no child policy or 2 child policy but with really carbon sensitive upbringing for those children. There are too many rules to contribute to non biological children, also the realiy is no cildren want to take care of the older generation, so being self sufficient, independant and then raising an independant child is the only way out, unfortunately because there are too many people to hogg resources its out of the picture, where there are too less its reverese nightmare like Japan.

Ya to adopt karlo itna hi parent ban ne ka icha uth rahi hai to.Kyuki aap bacha paida karne ke saath resources paida nahi kar paaoge. I can understand that having one child instead of two but remaining childless will impact human existence in a couple of decades. Millennials have a tendency not to accept any responsibility; hence, this is a trend. Imagine if our parents had the same views; then, we would not exist.

congrats on the milestone. really inspiring to see how you make each video. regarding the topic, while i respect your life choice, i do not agree with all of the points. suffering is part of life. even if you never get physically hurt in your entire life, you would still experience "growing pains". we choose to drive regularly, despite its risks and especially while living in the country with the most fatalities on road. it is because we weigh its benefits over the risks. weird parallel, but similarly life is so beautiful and worth it, despite the risks. your videos have showcased the beauty of nature. at the risk of sounding tone deaf, the concept of consent for something that is yet to be brought to life is very interesting to hear. like schrodinger's cat, how will you know what the child wanted until it is alive? regardless, i look forward to a productive discussion in the comments (a rarity, but let's see).

can't agree more, living with pain, experiencing pain, is called life.. nobody lives a pain free life.. experiencing parenthood is part of life.. its LIFE..not all parents or to be parents.. or wannabe parents are selfish.. in fact only a small percentage of them must be selfish, if all humans make babies for the 4 reasons he described, no one would have loved their children, there wouldn't be the existence of something known as "Mother's love".. btw, why do animals reproduce then? all 4 reasons doesn't even apply to them.. MaddyKoko, pls stop making such videos.. I mean, you don't need to..!

I am okay with you taking accountability for your life. You can drive in a car and most fatalistic roads. But why do you want to introduce new passengers into your car without their consent? If you are not able to take the consent the default position should be not to do that action. Will you have sex with a drunken men/women where you can't take their consent?

There are three levels of Antinatalism 1,Theodicy based Antinatalism-Souls questioning God 2, Anthropodicy based ANtinatalism-humans questioning their parents 3, Ethical AI based Antinatalism-Conscious robots questioning humans. Premises: 1, Pain is intrinsically bad, But can be instrumentally good/bad. 2, Impossibility of consent: procreation is morally problematic because of the impossibility of obtaining consent from the human who will be brought into existence. -great harm is not at stake if the action is not taken; You don't suffer if you are not born -if the action is taken, the harms suffered by the created person can be very severe; All humans suffer from childbirth pain,diseases,aeging and death(Buddhism based common suffering) -a person cannot escape the imposed condition without very high cost (suicide is a difficult task for many); -the hypothetical consent procedure is not based on the values of the person who will bear the imposed condition when we want to significantly affect someone by our action and it is not possible to get their consent, then the default should be to not take such action. The exception is, according to them, actions by which we want to prevent greater harm of a person (for example, pushing someone out of the way of a falling piano). However, such actions certainly do not include procreation, because before taking this action a person does not exist 3,procreation violates Minimal Ethical Articulation 4,Violation of Kantian Imperative: a man should never be used as merely a means to an end, but always be treated as an end in himself A person can be created for the sake of their parents or other people, but that it is impossible to create someone for their own good; and that therefore, following Kant's recommendation, we should not create new people. 5,Negative Utilitarianism: minimizing suffering has greater moral importance than maximizing happiness. 6,David Benatar's Asymmetry: (Read his book) there is a crucial asymmetry between the good and the bad things, such as pleasure and pain: the presence of suffering is bad; the presence of happiness is good; the absence of is good, even if that good is not enjoyed by anyone; the absence of is not bad unless there is somebody for whom this absence is a deprivation 7,Theodicy and Anthropodicy: Souls questioning God why did God created them in the first place, same way atheistic kids questioning their parents about their creation 8,Omniscience Freewill decisions: Only Omniscient being can make right decisions, Partial knowledge decisions might be wrong-Problem of accumulated knowledge and decision making dilemma
