I love Ozempic! I have taken it for six months and have lost two stone (28 pounds). I have one more stone to lose to get back to my pre-menopause weight. My blood pressure and cholesterol are now normal. It was a godsend as menopause completely cratered my metabolism.

I love your new mindset on food. It is important to have a good relationship with food and your body. I have been on Metformin for the better part of 20 years after I was diagnosed with PCOS. My internal med doc decided to have me try ozempic. I loved it. I did lose some weight, but not a lot. The thing I love about ozempic is that it is the only medication I’ve taken that has completely eliminated the insulin induced cysts on my ovaries that PCOS causes.

This sounds great! Honestly I learned a lot about nutrition in the past few years and I took the time to fix my problems around food. Now at almost 50 non only I am in the best shape of my life because I lift weights but also because I’m maintaining my weight super easily. No restrictive diets, no fasting, nothing crazy. All of it because I took the time to learn and most importantly to go to the roots of my relationship with food. No medication could have done it for me. I’m not judging anyone for the decision they made, I’m just happy that I took the long road so now I can just cruising because I made important changes one at a time.

I'm doing intermittent fasting daily and lost 20lbs in 6wks. This is how it goes, whatever time my last meal is for the day, I fast for 16hrs after that which means I skip breakfast and lunch the next day. I take coffee(no sugar) around the 12 hr mark to help extend my fast. I break my fast with light food(turkey sandwich, salad etc) followed a few hours later with supper. If I don't feel like eating then I allow myself to have a late night snack of sugar free greek yogurt with walnuts. The trick to doing this diet successfully is to avoid sugary foods or processed carbohydrates which causes fluctuations in blood sugar and thus the ability to control your appetite. Hope this helps somebody.

Isn’t it sad the way the horrible things some adults say about us as children, sticks in our heads for our whole lives? I remember conversations about my weight when I was just 10, 11 and not overweight, but developing. Comments to me and about me by adults made me so self-conscious, and that shame never left me. Kids don’t deserve that. Adults really need to watch what they say and model good behavior by not talking about anyone’s body.

I still remember a comment from my aunt that eating macaroni and cheese (still one of my favorite foods) was causing me to have “fat armpits.” I was maybe 10 or 11 at the time and she was the one primarily responsible for my meals. When I started dating my husband I told him that I was “fat” as a child. After he saw photos of me from all ages he was horrified. I’ve never, at any point in my life, been overweight. But comments from adults convinced me I was fat, when I never was.

Thank you for sharing this - amazing how experiences when we are young shape us so much. A lot resonated with me (obviously not the large chest!). I put on over a stone with Covid which coincided with unimaginable work stress and what I think are perimenopause symptoms. I almost felt a loss of self as being slimmer was a part of who I was to the extent I didn’t like going out or people seeing me. I too am losing gradually and am relaxing a lot about it as honestly I just can’t be arsed to go on a strict regime and am a fussy eater! Well done you and lovely to see you looking so well and happy. x

there are lots of people who eat poorly who are thin too! it's not really fair we say that just because it manifests for some people on the outside that those are the people who get shamed for their habits. that's the part i hate. it's also not really fair to put blame on people for eating too much when it's our bodies natural systems to search out high sugar high fat foods. but anyways really glad you are finding your intuitive eating. i also felt same that i want to lose weight in a way that is sustainable because that's the only way i want to live.

I recently did 72 hour fasting (did it twice, the second time was better than the first) and also trying to incorporate intermittent fasting in my week, it’s mainly for insulin resets and all the other benefits that comes with it. More importantly the mental aspect & awareness. Exercise is also important for me, getting back to it from the beginning of the year and hope it continues. Yup, no meds for me too 🙏🏼🙌🏼🥰

I started my first diet at 8 years old also had my very own calorie counter book. Growing up diet culture and everything thin was celebrated and with a naturally thin mother and sister my relationship with food didn't stand a chance. I have spent my entire life on a diet and have flip flopped between between overweight and underweight too many times to count. I have spent the last five years in a free fall, eating everything because I was starting tomorrow and my weight is the highest it has ever been. I started Ozempic 6 weeks ago and I love it. I have lost a little bit of weight, nothing crazy but I am not watching what I eat or exercising at this stage - I was concerned about using it and decided not to put too much pressure on myself to be perfect. The weight loss is great but the freedom it has given me is what has changed my life - food no longer rules what I do and how I feel. I never understood how people could just stop eating when they are full unless they were on a diet and suddenly it is the easiest thing to do. I eat what I want but only have the desire to eat when I am actually hungry and I don't feel like I need to eat everything. It is the best thing I have ever done for my mental health and the weight loss is a bonus. I 100% respect your decision and I love that you can change the way you think about food with out it, I'm not sure I could have and if I could have it would have taken a lot of emotional bandwidth to do so and with some other changes going on in my life I don't think I would have stuck with it.

I have a strong family history of type 2 diabetes and developed gestational diabetes during my pregnancy 3 years ago. Earlier this year my A1C was elevated and my insulin was quite high also (insulin resistance) and my Dr. suggested to try Ozempic. I've been taking 0.5 doze for 6 months - interestingly enough it did nothing for weight loss or appetite reduction (and I didn't want to take higher dosage) but it greatly improved my A1C and insulin levels. So not everyone loses weight on it but it definitely helps to balance out your blood sugar.

Mindfulness of your needs and awareness to listening to your body is a brilliant beginning to a balance in life...the body speaks to you in the only way it can by the way of intuition, pain, hunger or other bodily needs without an agenda whilst the mind does....being overweight is simply a manifestation that something has gone off kilter in our beautiful internal chemical factory. Just thinking out loud...

In Denmark, Ozempic is for diabetes and you get it as a subsidised prescription - it's not licensed for weight loss only. Wegovy is practically the same (made by the same company), and is non subsidised prescription only licensed for weight loss. There are slight differences in the two formulations, but they're almost the same. The problem comes when doctors are prescribing Ozempic purely for weight loss (this happens because it is cheaper for the patient and I know of people who have had it prescribed, but not all gps will offer this), as there is such a high demand that there is a shortage, so people who do have diabetes have trouble getting it. You could argue that weight loss medication should have the same subsidised price as every other medication, but that is a question Danish politicians need to address. The other thing is that if you don't change your way of eating, you will either need to take Wegovy for life or risk putting on weight. As for diabetes, this Ozempic is responsible for increasing the drug expenditure massively and there is an argument for prescribing it more selectively as there are other diabetes drugs that can be just as, or more effective for some patients and are a fraction of the cost. There is talk of Ozempic not being prescribed until other, cheaper drugs have been tried. . Apparently, patients are reporting that, in addition to suppressing appetite for food, both these drugs are suppressing appetite for other things we can become addicted to, such as alcohol. So good things and bad things about Ozempic and Wegovy.

I am 10 years passed menopause and did pretty well maintaining my weight. But the last 5 years gained 20 pounds and kept slowly gaining weight no matter how hard I tried. Ozempic is magical in my situation. I lost those 20 pounds in 4 months and feel fantastic. My clothes fit perfect and I feel so good about it. Eating only slightly less it works wonders. You should really consider trying it for 3 months. Yes you will get nauseated at fist and maybe for awhile but that’s part of how it works. You really have nothing to lose, but a few pounds.

I'm a 63 yr old wife, mother and grandmother....I am 5'4" and weigh 165lbs. As a child my parents had me on a diet from the age of 12 ( I was 5'4 and weighed 130lbs at that time, but they always said I was fat. This stuck with me for many years until I met my husband at the age of 24 and at a weight of 140lbs, he never understood why I thought I was fat or why my parents thought I was fat.....I never thought about my weight again. Although my parents who are now in their mid 80's still tell me I'm fat and are always asking me why I didn't do what my brother did which was take Ozempic. I don't see the need for that, I am very fit and can out walk and out work most 40 yr olds. I say all of this to say, women and men need to do what feels best for them and not worry about what others are saying.

I was lanky and awkward until 16, and everyone would say to my mom at least she wouldn't need to worry about boys with me (my sister is 5 years older), which always made me feel like they were saying I was less attractive 🤷🏻‍♀At the same time, I was kinda grateful to not have that attention or to be considered that feminine because they made it seem like a bad thing. It's ridiculous the bs we have to unlearn because of the nonsense people say when we're children.
