The way you wrote it (without an oxford comma) is actually correct regarding the intended meaning :) A comma after "wheat" however would inevitable lead to oil and wood being food. Sorry for destroying your joke.

Correction: The first name for Iceland was NOT in fact Iceland, it had a few other names first, so the first Icelandic settler was not the one who actually names it Iceland. The first name was actually Snæland, which means “Snowland.” In between those two names it then got a few others, but eventually settled for the name Ísland (Iceland). While not a huge mistake, since the difference is just Ice vs snow, I just felt like I should point that out.

What I really want to know is much ice was shipped from the US and how much was left when the ships arrived in places like Australia & India. Wrong. When you're country ends on "land", you are - by law - required to import whatever it is that precedes your country name, because otherwise they'd turn into only "land". Most very old and very big houses in the UK (I mean very big country estates, National Trust type places) have special outbuildings designed for storing ice before the times of fridges and freezers, mainly for food preservation. They are called ice houses and are effectively man-made caves. A know of a place where there's a mushroom house too.

sirBrouwer the Main reason is that desert sand cannot be used for construction because it is round. Artificial islands and buildings will just fall apart. Hey HaI I work at the harbour that ships a lot of the aluminum from Iceland and it's worth mentioning that most of it does not use the same ships that normal cargo comes on, a substantial portion does but all the raw material and most of the products enter and exit from their own harbours and carry very limited if any extra cargo. Also 99% of ice in Iceland is made in Iceland and is used for icing fish.

Wait what??? We don't import much ice. I the past few years I have seen some imported bags of ice in the supermarket but generally we scoff at the idea and find it ridiculous. Usually the supermarkets have ice machines. Like the video says then electricity is not really expensive here so making ice is cheap as hell. So the video is mostly correct apart for the part where we rely on imported ice.

Yup. It will be Jónsson. It's always the first name. Although we could also choose it to be Eyrúnarson as my wife is named Eyrún. The rest of the nordic countries have stopped doing this and use family names now. The russians also do this although the fathername comes in the middle and they also have a family name. For example Putin's full name is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Which means something like 'Vladimir, son of Vladimir, of the Putin family". This is also where the middle eastern 'bin' comes from.

One of my favorite stories to tell people about the time I went to Iceland with my dad is about ice. We rented a car and were driving around the entirety of the island over the course of 9 days. We had a cooler to keep our cold food in as we drove around the island, be we had no way of actually keeping the food cold. Nowhere sold ice and only one of the places we stayed had a freezer. Our ice from that freezer ran out after about 2 days. We had been looking for Ice for about a day or two when we got to the Diamond Beach. It was covered in chunks of ice as seen in pictures. Before leaving, we got the idea to find a nice sized chunk and put it in our cooler. It lasted nearly until the end of the trip. That is how we couldn't find ice in Iceland, and how we ended up using an iceberg to keep our ice cool.

I remember everyone loving the Hawaiian pizza here but here comes the internet and everyone started to hate on it for no reason other than to just not be different and judged. There are many cases where fruits are used with meat and it always tastes so fucking better than without the fruit or jam do why is it fucking wrong to like pineapple on pizza.
