China mainly imports wheat, and the main importers are Brazil, Argentina and the United States. The main importer of rice is Thailand's high-end rice. India does not export rice, which does not affect China at all. India does not export rice mainly to stabilize prices and reduce inflation.

I think we as Indians are too much obsessed with what the West thinks of us rather than what we ourselves think about ourselves. This is a mark of slavery and we are still mental slaves of the west.

You are absolutely right! The slave (naukar, ghulam) mentality still lingers on in India despite the independence from the "White Master" ( Gora sahib and his Memsahib)😢 The most intelligent, spiritual, talented, enterprising, innovative people hail from India - the cradle of civilisation, yet the Indian revers the arrogant, ignorant, narcissist American! They are all mouth and no brain. The economy of UK is in existence because of the Indians and Pakistanis and it's obvious by the Prime Minister being an India.😁

It was evident that rice price will go up. I am a rice farmer from Odisha and know the ground reality from last year. Due to insufficient rain in last year many farmers including me incurred losses. That means shortage in stock. Last year( December month when rice selling starts)authority instructed the LAMPS to collect as much as possible and to full the selling quota of all the farmers. I predicted from March onwards the rice price will start going up. And it is happening. This year many farmers are not willing to sell the crop. That means more shortage. Pray that it rains well this year.

Simple geography! Rice is majorly produced in the tropical belt. And no major western power or the WTO dominating countries fall in the tropical belt. They're bound to be against this. One of the most important reason for banning rice exports that you didnot mention is - water. Why does China stopped exporting rice? Why do western countries not produce rice? Reason is - water. You need 5000 litres of water to produce 1kg of rice. Water is a scarce commodity today and future wars could be fought for water only. With each MT of rice that you export you are also exporting 5000000 litres of country's water. Govt is conscious of this and rice export ban is here to stay.

India's ban on rice export is simply a stab in the back to the world economy. It was such policies that made Europe start subsidizing its farmers when the US banned the export of a certain commodity in the 1950s. The world is already traumatized by food supply disruptions due to the Ukraine Russian War. Nigeria for instance wants to be self sufficient in rice production despite having no comparative advantage whatever in the crop and neglecting those it has comparative advantage in. Nigeria has basically banned rice imports, so Nigerians ate forced to pay a premium on locally produced rice. Indias export ban provides fuel to protectionist why food imports are unreliable and bad, despite them having lower prices.

Excellent (1) all govt decisions has deeper meaning WTO angle was not known. Thank you for explaining (2) during NDA inflation not crossed 7% due to timely decisions (3) only worry is export revenue will go down hence trade deficit will widens

This year the central government has provided 2.77 lakh metric tons of rice in June and 2.95 lakh metric tons of rice in May for ethanol production. This has resulted in artificial rice famine and severe price hike. The central government has planned to supply 32 lakh metric tonnes of rice by November this year for ethanol production and has so far supplied 13 lakh metric tonnes.

Bharat should support BRICS currency. It will give huge boost to economy and we'll get oil for much cheaper price. It will enhance our production and can become 3rd largest economy within by the end of 2024. Jai Hind 🔥🔥
