Yes, and Russia has supported India many times when the west, especially the US supported Pakistan. Finally when Osama bin laden was found in Pakistan, US started warming up to India. -1971 war -Kargil war -Genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus -Several terrorist attacks regularly on Indian soil In all this the US stood with Pakistan. -Ukraine even sold tanks to Pakistan against India. We were sanctioned for nuclear tests in late 90s. Where was humanity? righteous? sympathy for human rights? The Ukraine crisis has produced a unique moment in history where China, India, Pakistan, and other Muslim countries are all on the same side. All of these countries want a more multipolar world order, and an end to a unipolar world dominated by one country. The moment of common purpose, and the dangers exposed by the Ukraine war should cause China, India, Pakistan etc to use this time to settle our common conflicts to produce a more unified and safer Asia. Fun fact, Russia and China had wars from 1600s up to 1970s, but Russia and India never had a war, like ever. In the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war US and China even allied and supported Pakistan, while the Soviet Union supported India. So Russia is a much more trustworthy ally for Indians, than for the Chinese. And we can see arguments among Chinese people about they should support Russia or Ukraine, as Ukraine was also quite friendly to China before the invasion (the half finished carrier Varyag/Liaoning was sold to China by Ukraine). And for the record, you said "China itself have not voted against India". Actually, if you look at the voting pattern of both countries, China and India vote the same way 80% of the time. Both countries normally vote with the interests of the Global South, and against the interests of the West. It is not coordinated but it has always turned out that way because both countries normally have similar interests as the Global South.

Geopolitics is about interests( yes that's the truth), and advancement in interests build trust....which Russia have succeeded in achieving. Relationship between India & the US have grown recently because: 1. Democracy 2. China 3. Terrorism (which hasn't been successful till now) So It's only regarding Russia that India can't help USA. India won't play mediator as it opens a gate for other countries (US) wanting to play mediator on Kashmir so playing a mediator will be shooting in foot so it's kinda off the table . 2. No, India does not has a lot loose from a prolonged war as the sanctions on Russia open way for India to enter new markets without much exploration , which we are already seeing when we talk about wheat exports to destination like Egypt (most populous African nation) amongst others , India uses geo-economics as a powerful weapon which we've witnessed against Malaysia and guess who owns Suez canal and who is increasing its say regarding it. 3. West is rather in a tight spot regarding India , if the west looses India it gives up indian Ocean , the only power in Asia that could possibly contain china and most importantly in my humble opinion the ditch on India will be a ditch on the largest DEMOCRACY which doesn't suits propoganda of the west . 4. Furthermore west is or should not be looking to push India as it can incline from QUAD to RIC which we shouldn't forget china is hosting and wanting PM to visit Beijing So India is playing very well rather.

It had even sent its naval forces to deter usa and UK when their naval forces entered Indian waters. What has Ukraine done for India?
