I have worked with many people from India and I have always been impressed with the drive to work hard, the business sense, and the entrepreneurial spirit. India has had to overcome so much, including hundreds of years of colonization, and is well on its way to returning to its status of being one of the world's great powers.

I recently saw a video comparing China's and India's growth since middle 20th century. It pointed out that both countries brought in jobs from foreign companies, but they were different types. India brought in "knowledge economy" jobs that relied on the highly educated, English speaking population. China brought in mass manufacturing jobs, which could hire people straight from the countryside with minimal training. So not only did China have a vastly larger population of people who could fill these jobs, but they could pay them very little. India's knowledge economy population was relatively small and had to be paid relatively more than mass manufacturing. You're right, manufacturing would certainly help India.

All these arguments are incomplete without talking about Government supportive policies and programs like StartUp India, UPI, Digital India, etc. We can't ignore government role in bringing digital revolution in the hand of common people through simple feature mobile. These helps tech companies to have better UX with their customers bcz of digitization.

Infosys and tech companies thrived. - the startup culture become increasingly attractive as more and more people pursued - 2021 has been a breakthrough year, indian overtakes china in venture capital, large number of unicorns (private companies valuing > 1 billion) - indian will continue to grow

The Indian SaaS ecosystem is the next big thing, if not already! The American SaaS products are meant for Enterprises - the Fortune 500 companies whereas India's approach has been with the poorly contested SMB market. If and when Indian SaaS companies dominate the SMB market then we can challenge the Enterprise market with a very competitive pricing and features. This will ensure that India builds some great products and hence we transition from services to product based companies. E.g. Zoho, Freshworks, browserstack, Innovacer etc.

India has followed a different path to other Asian countries that have grown impressively, India has failed to take advantage of it's large population by developing low skill industries, given the state of education and skill level of much of India's population this would be the best way to move forward, but given the bureaucracy, the socialist mindset of many Indians and the general hatred towards any entrepreneurship or business from the general public, the ease of doing business won't improve and hence this large untapped potential will probably never be utilized.

Not disrespecting tech startups, but what actually would drive Indian economy is manufacturing. Lot of low skilled manufacturing companies are non existent in India 20% is quite low for a massive developing country like India. India has still half of the population working directly or indirectly in agriculture sector, low skilled manufacturing jobs can push economic growth significantly and solve India's unemployment crisis. Meanwhile, the tech startups can grow and until then new education system is implemented, India will be on track of stability.
