Satellite internet is only good for remote areas where connection haven't been made yet or can't be made. Cable internet will always be the cheaper option if available unless the satellite companies play dirty and subsidize costs just to capture the market. Which is something, that Jio has done successfully in mobile network market

Competition is good and always welcomed. But just to get one thing clear, Elon will never be able to compete with Jio or Airtel in terms of cost. Technologies used by starlink and SpaceX are very costly. Elon has to recover his cost and earn profit as well. You will ultimately use Jio only due to their low cost.

Airtel coverage is still better than Jio. Jio is a big city base network provider. While in rural it sucks whereas Airtel reaches these corners. 65% Indian lives in rural.

The latency of satellite internet is very high compared to optical cable networks and mobile networks. The last time I checked, Starlink's latency was some 120ms+ on average, if I'm right. So, satellite internet isn't good for gaming and such, but it will connect remote areas with the rest of the world. Also, OneWeb has better chances in India than Starlink.

My concern is that the space in the space is already very cluttered. When more & more companies will come with their own satellite constelations & if one bad incident of collison & it's chain reaction happens in space which is the 'Kessler Syndrome' all the Countries in the world jointly will stop any new contellation by other companies. The first movers in this sector will have the advantage till that period & then the satellite spectrum may get commoditized with the cap in no. of satellites those can operate in the space & the satellites will become properties of the Countries & then the business senario will be just to maintain the satellites, launching newer ones after deorbiting of older ones & the business of space junk removal.
