Pluralism and the idea of 'let and let live'', while embracing and accepitng all beliefs, and ideas in the marketplace of ideas, be it religious, spiritual social or political, (so long as no harm is done to others), has alwasy been the core foundation of indian/hindu culture, philosophy and spirituality. To say that being a hindu nation is a threat to democracy and pluralism, is like saying that being a democratic pluralist nation, is a threat to democracy and pluralism! FYI, Hindu is a geographical term synonymous with the word indian. Hind is the persian word for india, and the word india is the greek and later british word for india. To say that its disadvantageous for india to become a hindu nation, is like saying, its disadvantageous for india to be indian nation! You wouldnt say that its problematic for france to be a french nation or russia to be a russian nation! So why is it a problem for india to be an indian nation?? Why shouldnt a nation be true to its own indigenous native culture and heritage? It makes no sense, and highleghts a deep lack of understanding among westerners, who too often see everything through their own hegemonic and assumed universalistic paradigm. India is already a hindu nation, and does not fit into the western paradigm of the 20th century construct of a nation state. It is a civilisational state and its native hindu/indian culture is synonymous with pluralism and democracy. For thousands of years, this civilisation was practicing pluralism as naturally as breathing, before the rest of the world even had a concept of pluralism and acceptance of others. It is precisely because of its native hindu/indian culture that, India has been a sanctuary for persecuted minorities for thousands of years. When christianity and islam spread across the globe, and middle eastern and european colonial expansion under these two religion, drove many people and cultures to extinction, it was to India that a few persecuted minorities such as jews and zoroastrians for example, were able to turn for sanctuary. India is the only place on earth where jews were never pogrommed. Even the idea of a relgion called 'hinduism' is a colonial construct imposed on our ethnic indigenous spiritual culture, just because colonisers could not fathom a culture that seamlessly incorporated spirituality into its civilisational identity, and was so diverse, complex and organic, that it did not fit into the judao christian framework. While all abrahamic religions derived their culture and identity from their relgiion, we derived our spirituality from our culture. 'Hindusim' is not a religion in the same sense as western abrahamic concepts of religion. What people refer to as 'hinduism' today, is basically an umbrella term for our civilisational marketplace of ideas, where countless philosphies have been debated and distilled over many millennia, and under which, spirituality or religion, in all its myriad diverse forms and expressions, is but one aspect, of the many different forms of ideas in our native pluralist framework, since time immemorial.

One more correction. The attempts by the Narendra Modi govt. to transform India into a Hindu state does not necessarily be as bad as one would contemplate in the West... India never had the concept of religious exclusivity that the western world had. Meaning "A person can still be a Hindu while being a Muslim". Hinduism is more about culture and way of life rather than strict adherence to a book... In other words "the soul of this country is Hindu though it's inhabitants can follow any religion in their personal space". And that's what PM Modi is trying to emphasize... Does not mean India would trample other religions

@jeanettewee8805 Жыл бұрын
@@revivehinduglry5176 In 1750, India had 23% of the world's GDP because it had 25% of the world's population. However, Britain was already a wealthy country even before it colonized India. If we look at the per-capita income of India and Britain in the 1750s, Britain's per-capita income was three times that of India, and India's per-capita income had been declining for a century before Britain won the Battle of Plassey. Comparing the total GDP of India and Britain in the 1750s to argue that India was richer than Britain is like saying that Uttar Pradesh is richer than Goa today. Later, the Industrial Revolution occurred in the Western world after the Scientific Revolution, with the invention of machines and technologies like the steam engine, and their wealth increased exponentially. Meanwhile, India's global share of GDP dropped to 4% in 1950. The same thing happened in China, which was not directly colonized. In fact, China's per-capita income was even lower than India's at the time of independence. During the 1750s, China's per-capita income was higher than India's. Therefore, if we say that Asian countries are poorer because of colonization, then what happened to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia, which were not colonized? It's worth noting that Nepal has a similar history and culture to India, yet it is the poorest country in Asia. The fact that Nepal was not colonized by the British undermines the argument that colonization is solely responsible for a country's level of poverty.

Instances from the ancient times proves that a so-called modern day “lower caste” can educate oneself with knowledge and change their Varna (Profession) to “upper caste”, e.g., Guru Valmiki, Kabir Das were from a Shudra family but became a Brahmin based on Guna (Characteristics or Essence), Ravana and his younger brother Kumbhakarna were Brahmins (educated person) from Northern India but because of their notorious Karmas (activities) all were punished by Shri Rama (believed to be an OBC if we abide by today's caste categorization). Lastly, you have to understand the British motive behind imposing the caste system:- The Caucasians (Europeans) created Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda, Africa, to divide and control the native population, and for this reason, the Rwanda Genocide occurred. The same attempts and inequalities Europeans also tried to create amongst Indians by separating Northern India and Southern India into “Aryans” VS “Dravidians” and further dividing Hinduism into 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes. Read about Herbert Hope Risley who created casteism, racism in Indian society by one's facial features and skin color, and Bishop Robert Caldwell who coined the term “Dravidian” and propagated the “Aryan Invasion” in Southern India to convert Southern Indians into Christianity. And read these books (1) Castes of Minds by Nicholas Dirks, (2) Western Foundations of the Caste System

@mathurp6889 Жыл бұрын
Please show me how India is the mother of democracy. It's a blatant lie. India has always been an aristocracy or meritocracy. No kingdom in India before 1947 was ruled by a democratically elected leader. It was always nobles or the kings. Even our historic texts make this clear. Karna was not given the throne and ridiculed despite being a great warrior in Mahabharata.
@indianhistoryarchaeology Жыл бұрын
@@mathurp6889 if you've read the Mahabharata or are familiar with the Rig Veda, or at least the Buddhist era history then you would know that ancient India had Republics or Mahajanapadas as well as janapadas. All the warring Deshas of the Mahabharata were either oligarchic or mass elected republics. The oligarchic Mahajanapadas of ancient India were democracies exactly the same as the first western democracies of Greece where the elite men chose the ruler... which was a few millennia later. As for Karna, he was the oligarchic ruler of the republic named Anga and was known as Angaraja.

To answer on the earliest civilization here are the precise dates: Mesopotamia 7000 BCE, Egypt 4300 BCE, and Harappan 7570 BCE from Bhirrana excavation in Haryana. This does make Indian civilization the oldest. These were the earliest beginnings of humans in their civilizational ethos. While we don't know about the Harappan political system, we do know about elected Janapadas and Mahajanapadas from the Rig Veda, Itihaas and historical records from the Greek, Buddhist and Indian sources. These were our democratic republics.

Excellent report. But Hindu rashtra will never be a hinderance. Hindus were the one who invented "Zero", geometry, arithmetic, yoga, meditation, ayurveda and countless others. It was Hindu rashtra that gave asylum to Zoroastrian people from Persia who are now owners of Tata , Gogrej , Wadia etc. It was due to Hindu rashtra that antisemitism never existed in India. It was Hindu consciousness that gave asylum to Dalai Lama and millions of Tibetans. It is Hindu consciousness that gives equal right to every religion. It is due to Hindu consciousness that democracy exists in India. So Hindu rastra is the future of India and not a hindrance as it existed for over 7000 years and will remain forever. That is why we call Hindu religion "sanatan" which means eternal.

I don't think India is becoming a Hindu state. Yes, the government is reclaiming India's lost ancient civilization and culture, but that is not turning India into Hindu state. India already is a Hindu country. The word India is itself a grecian pronounciation of the word Hind, which is the root syllable of the word Hindu. All Narendra Modi is doing is re-developing a sense of pride among Indians, who even might have converted to other religions or not, for their Hindu roots.

We are beginning to learn the real history of India.It is not Mughals and British invaders alone.They were many more Hindu empires which extended beyond Afghanistan. The British and elite congress men of India distorted India’s history.Do u think non-violence was the reason for gaining independence? There was many massacres done by colonial British, so non violence is not a big deal for them. Don’t read the books which has west perception about India.Most of the books are not true. Modiji is successful because he is the only PM who really know the essence of Indian society and he only can connect to people. Before invasions, India’s GDP was 25..So it is very clear that our Hindu culture and civilisation holds key to our economic model and solutions for the world problems. The religion and economic model of west was exploitive in nature and disaster to the environment. For example, Christian and Muslim doesn’t believe in rebirth.So they taught people to enjoy and exploit the resources for themselves. But in Hinduism, we believe that nature is god and we consider earth as our mother. So before digging the earth for any construction, we ask for mother’s earth blessing and forgiveness. In Hinduism, we believe in rebirth.we aspire to protect and preserve our nature ,so that our grand children and great great grand children can use them. Democracy is imbibed in our civilisation and Hindu culture.Kings always decide and act accordingly to his people..Kings always put their subjects first. India is not union of states.Indians were united before due to its Hindu culture. Russia understands Indian than USA. Russia understands the essence of Indian society but USA and UK can become a close ally to our country and Indians unless they shed out their colonial mentality and egotistical mindset and have to read the real books that shows the essence of Indian society. The question is will they do it??? I don’t see this happening now.. western policies are failing.They have to accept this first to open their mind to real solutions of the world. Still the west is condescending on India..God save the world!!!

Dark ages was only in the west but not in India. USA started its nation on a clean slate.Massacres were common when Christianity was spreading in the west.So the west imposed dark ages on India. All are free to follow their own beliefs but they should not forget their Hindu roots and our culture.Thank god Modiji is our PM now and he has the knowledge about our ancient scriptures. The optimism within the country is viral right now will continue doing so. As far as English is concerned, it has managed to establish it's hegemony for close to a century now. This is not that impressive historically. But, with the decline of US and the dismal condition of Britain, it will cease to exist. India has 22 official language in the 1950's govt tried to make hindi the national language of india but faced fearced resistance from other non hindi speaking states specially southern states So english language is like a bridge between different languages Like i am from north India (from a hindi speaking state) my friends is from south from a tamil speaking state The only way we can communicate with each other is with english as a common language
@sushmitanaik1858 Жыл бұрын
Hindi unites people. Amit Shah didn't imposed Hindi on Southern Indian people.He just said that don't impose an English on Hindi, because southern India politics is based on hipocracy. They don't want to accept Indian Hindi language but want to impose an English who doesn't know local language. Where's the pride when someone North Indians speak in an English with you in your own country state. First south Indians should accept that they are the part of Indian rather than fighting for their language in hippocrate manner.

This whole farce is created by Tamil politicians which later spread in most of the south Indian State. The separation poltics is used to get elected just like North India has caste issue created by politicians for short term gains. There is no north state with Hindi as there mother tongue bihar it self has Five language biharis used Hindi as a common language. Afganistan to Burma Hindi is used as a common language. Even they have their own tongue. India needs to have a Common language which has to be indian. Hindi is right language because it easily understood from Afghanistan to Myanmar.

A very emotional message from an Indian.. India is sitting on the greatest treasure of human resource ( 1.4 billion people that too 50% below 30 yrs w/ increasing expertise in STEM, hardworking, ambitious & smart ). If we don't utilize it at it's full potential in this decade & next two to come, it'll be a huge missed opportunity in building a nation w/ high standard of living that offers tons of diverse cultures, food, languages, festivals, etc w/ state of the art modern technology something India didn't have for a very long time. I mean just imagine it.. it'll be like living in a utopia. It'll be a place on the planet that'll literally have something for everybody.

"English remains the language of aspiration" what a point Sir, you earn my respect by quoting this. Thank you for pointing out that the English language came to India not because of British colonial rule, but due to its association with upward mobility and aspiration. There's mention of Janapadas and mahajanapadas in India around 2500-2700 yrs. back. These were democratic as the general public would select their administrator and governer and they had the right to overthrow the current leader if they are corrupt and change them with a more trustworthy one. So claiming that democracy is actually ingrained in our DNA would NOT be an exaggeration.

Just look at the policies over opinions and you'll have your answer. A few policies might overlap with the Dharmic people but in all its existence, BJP is nothing but a centric party. Dharmic people are voting for BJP cause as of now, they don't have any other option, when the option arise, you'll know what actually is a Dharmically aligned party!

Excellent analysis for a Foreigner to do so! India had almost 34% of the World GDP in 1600 BC. Even during the Mughal Muslim Dynasty, the GDP of India came down to about 23% but still the highest in the World! The Richest Nation in the World in Economic Terms as well as Scientific, Medical and others Terms too. Susrutha, the Physician, 3000 years before Hippocrates, taught the World Surgery of the Eye - Cataract Surgery and Nose Reconstruction Operations, India gave ZERO to the World without which Mathematics would not exist nor would Computer Science or Rocket Science. India's unrusted Iron Pillar in Delhi which has withstood for 3000 plus years stands testimony to its metallurgical process. It's Ayurvedic and Siddha Schools of Medicine are 5000 years old. Long before Machiavelli, Chanakya gave the World, the Principles of War & Peace. Be it Astronomy or Astrology Indian Rishis or ancient Scientists have astonishing facts and figures about movement of Planets, Stars etc. They stated that all Planets revolved around the Sun, when the Europeans and the Pope were claiming that the World is Square and not Round! To put it short, India was a World Leader in almost all Fields of Activity! But, all this was put to Waste by the Plunder and Looting of India by the British East India Company in 200 years. They swindled and looted almost 45 Trillion Dollars from India and broke the back of India..... After Independence in 1947, India rose like a Phoenix from its Ashes! In just 75 years they have kicked out England from being the 5th Largest World Economy to 6th Largest Economy! Possibly by end of 2023, India will surpass Germany to become the 4th Largest Economy! And, by 2030 or earlier, India is expected to surge ahead of Japan to become the World's 3rd Largest Economy! After the COVID-19 Pandemic, India, instead of folding down, has become the fastest growing Economy with 6.3% Growth estimated by IMF and World Bank, the highest growth rate amongst all Nations including USA, China, Japan and the rest. Everyone expects India to become a Superpower once again by 2030! China, with it's Debt-Trap policies is increasingly ignored by the World and it's Growth Rate is almost Negative now. It's Belt and Road initiative is becoming a Disaster and most Nations are avoiding China like Plague! Whereas India, has become the Pharmacy of the World and had supplied it's Covid Vaccines to over 90 Countries and Free of cost to its neighbours as well as the poorest countries in the World! It has supplied Wheat too! It has saved Srilanka from destruction after China ditched it! Any country needs to become a Defence Exporter to become a Superpower. India has started with Brahmos Supersonic Missiles, Tejas Fighter Aircrafts, and many other Defence Equipments. It plans to achieve a 5 Trillion Economy by 2025 and also a leading Defence Equipments Exporter by 2025! Also, a Superpower needs POWER (Electricity and other Fuels) to feed it's Nation and industries! From Fossil Fuels, India is rapidly creating Solar, Wind, Lithium and Hydrogen Green Energy Fuels to reduce Global Warming and meet it's electrical energy needs! To cap it all, the average Indian Workforce is only 27 years of age, the lowest in the World. Whereas China's and US's average age is 37 years and England 42 years! So, India has an unique advantage against China, US and other developed Nations for the next 15 years! This Manpower and India's Software Superpower will propel it to become a Superpower within this decade! So, the World better Watch out! India is RISING and going to LEAD the World by reaching it's earlier Leadership position in the 1600's..... Sooner than Later! Watch out China! Watch out America! Watch out World! INDIA IS COMING! 😊😊😊

India is a country built on Santana dharma principles Hinduism , Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and we are not going to be shunned into being proud of our faiths and philosophy in fact abrahamic countries should be ashamed seeing as it’s the countries that took abrahamic faiths primarily Christianity and Islam that cause the most devastation in this world with colonisation, invasions, wars, forced conversions, burning of books libraries , destroying indigenous faiths and culture as well as people , conquering nations so we are proud to stick to our dharma which doesn’t discriminate other faiths but won’t bend to the latter feudalism that is the abrahamic model, India hasn’t invaded nations and destroyed indigenous cultures or forced people to convert by the sword maybe if more countries followed dharma we would live in peace

wonder why the press uses 'Hindu Nationalist' as though its a bad word. Lets change that to "Christian Nationalist" - doesnt sound bad. "Jewish nationalist" - neither does it sound bad for israel, its no more than a description of that nation, although Israel was recolonised by Jewish, the Hindus were never displaced from their homeland.. Every European country like Spain France etc, have crosses on every traffic island in the countryside, and Catholicism pervades every aspect of their life. So what if Hindu (Sanathan Dharma) pervades Indian public space and mindspace and owns it. A Kumbha mela or countless other gatherings show that. Indian public space is Hindu mental space, and the ethos is profoundly Hindu, you cant get away from that, its always been that way, becuase India is the Hindu birthplace. But that doesnt mean it is threatening to others like it doesnt in Catholic nations of today.
