I know that you guys are good friends but If you invite someone to share their knowledge then let them answer the questions, otherwise you can create your own video explaining the same thing if you know about the topic already. Dont take it wrong, just didn't like the flow of the podcast. Hope you will note this.

Reason for Automobile Companies not trying for a sport-specific cars is the LACK of infrastructure in india. When have we ever had good roads? Only in last 5 years, have we started seeing better roads in india. And animals(cattle) on road is still an issue, along with rickshaw, scooty, cycle all coming and hogging. These factors were not present in european, american or japanese countries hence they could develop and pitch it to their customers.

The main differences between TATA & MAHINDRA are - 1. Tata discontinued all of their old products, as well as u dont get good service support for those vehicles. At the same time Mahindra is still continuing their 30+ yrs old models, along with good service support, if not everywhere, but still around most of the states. 2. Tata discontinues their failed products, but Mahindra keeps their failed products & backs them up with their strong products (eg - TUV 300 changed to Bolero Neo). 3. Still in remote areas u get better service support of Mahindra than Tata. 4. Mahindra has all kinds of SUV chassis in the market, targeting different customer, which Tata doesn't. 5. Mahindra has their own in house M-Stallion & M-Hawk engines, these 2 engines r gem, Tata had it's own Dicor engine, but now it has none.

Biggest problem in indian automobile market is government don't want people to purchase cars, because making and maintaing the infra is more expensive, government is not able to provide nessesary space on the roads and the pace at which construction is being done except some regions is horrible, and the pick pocket behaviour of government is another pain for people. After sometime Indian market will be more of used car market dominating and only wealthy people will only be able to buy new cars.

How many people did buy old Grand Vitara, Baleno RS, S-Cross 1.6 Diesel & Kizashi ? How many people are buying Fronx Turbo ? Their present K-Series NA engines are more than good for >95% of Indian customers & as per rumors, they are developing a new 1.2 litre Turbo engine to replace 1.5 NA. Jimny, Swift, Swift Sports,etc. are popular in International Markets & they are one of the top selling manufacturers in Japan. But yes, I agree, they didn't live up to their potential. They could do much better than this. I don't judge quality of car by touching interiors, dashboard. I see overall experience in long term & how reliable the car is overall & MS is excellent in this. They know Indian market more than any other car manufacturer in India. 👍🏻

In our country people have no experience of driving dynamics and the feel of driving quality of cars selling outside india for eg. even people have started demanding safety features recently from last 4-5 years after Tata advertise it i.e they don't know what they can get if they start criticizing brands and demand quality cars.

Indian car companies not going growing because lack of competition in India there is no competition there are only two competitors Mahindra and tata but they have their different standards and they are surviving and what are doing best in their sectors I think India wants new competition in automobiles especially in cars companies
@MarcusAurelius-o4e18 күн бұрын
You talk about global brands such as Toyota and Honda not selling many models in India. The reason is the high taxation in India. Entry level cars such as an Accord or Camry sell in the West for 25 lakhs but are luxury cars in India that cost 50 lakhs plus. At this price no one would buy them in the West where the per capita income is much higher. The Mahindra SUVs will not sell in Europe or America. They are underpowered and very sluggish. Probably hard to merge onto highways with these cars. Most modern cars reach 100 Kmph in about 6 to 8 seconds.
@Ramanbhukania18 күн бұрын
Here and there some good points Gagan mentioned about the core topic. I really hope he actually creates another video, just to summarise these key points. I personally feel, Indian Government and Auto Manufacturers should first target how to make India as hub of Global Manufacturing (Regardless if its done by a proper Desi Brand or any international brands). Today most of the highest selling cars are made for India models. So unless we start building made for global markets in India, we cannot reach our ultimate aim for making Indian brands as global brands. Also in this podcast, some of the key developments have totally ignored. Tata building new plant Chennai to manufacture JLR and Tata EVs on common platform for global market. Toyota building a totally new plant in Aurangabad, which will produce like half a million cars. Maruti Suzuki building worldclass EVs for itself and Toyota for Global market. Force motors build engines for BMW and Mercedes. The list is long which can easily confirm, India will become a global manufacturing hub for Automobile. Probably by 2030. And I fully agree with Gagan on one point, a strong consumer market (which was not there say 10 years back) will surely help to achieve this dream even more quickly.
@ranjeetd9018 күн бұрын
Problem with EVs in India is that total lack of accountability on manufacturer part. Recently thousands of OLA scooters were found at service centers for months. What happened at the end?? Who suffeerred?? It becomes very difficult to put hard earned money into these not even half baked EVs.
@harshitgarg343618 күн бұрын
in a country where people were struggling for 3 times a day meal, how can we expect a company to make an enthusiastic car? and even if they do make one, where will these enthusiasts live their enthusiasm? on the race track which are too expensive? or on public roads which are riddled with potholes and heavy traffic? We need to improve our infrastructure first before thinking of such cars. and the sub 4 meter rule, while i can understand the intention behind it but please get rid of it
@siddheshdeshpande718315 күн бұрын
I think it's quite simple, Maruti Suzuki's conservative policy + government poeple stakes in MS + Bad taxation rules like sub 4 m & 1.2 cc + no risks taken to make iconic memorable cars = India's sorry state of passenger car market everybody is responsible and I feel now it's only upto the current government to rectify this by implementing policies condusive for in this case the global OEMs and car companies to manufacture not for the world but also for India

After watching this podcast I realised the differences in the content of both of Faisal and Gagan. Gagan viewpoint is practical and offers better perspective to potential Buyers. Even in other people’s podcast like red Mike and with Sunil Munj he gave insights of automotive industry not just in India but around the world. Also his content on buying an EV and showcasing the problems of the buyers is more relatable and unique. Faisal’s reviews are more of enthusiasts POV and fast. I guess maybe he’s also shooting blogs and reviews back to back that’s why. Frankly I only watch his videos to check rear seat legroom and him giving the beans, that’s it. I like his vlogs more than his reviews. Both Gagan and Faisal are one of my favourites, my best wishes to both of them.

Actually cars manufacturers never marketed high power cars for enthusiasts because of the high fuel price. This is actually ground reality and goes both for manufacturers as well and end consumers Now SUV 's are sold because of good National Highways and Express ways. Similarly if Fuel prices and taxes go down then manufacturers will also get a boost to market performance oriented vehicles.
