People learn a language based on necessity. North Indian Ola/Uber drivers do know Kannada, because they have to talk to Kannada customers. But the IT ppl, don't have time. Most of the offices and apartments where IT ppl work and live are very diverse. So, they normally talk in a common language like English and Hindi. People hardly meet Kannadigas in their lives. Suppose a Bengali, Punjabi and Marathi are working together, they will not learn another language to talk to each other. They use languages that they already know. Govt should help, by conducting Kannada proficiency test, and giving a cash prize of one month's rent. Then IT ppl, who get laid off, will learn Kannada, to pay their rent. Otherwise, life is already stressful at work, traffic and no time to eat and sleep even.

Secondly there is no other language in India that has as much resemblance to regional languages as Hindi,whether its Marathi, Gujrati, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada, Assamese, Hindi has resemblance to all the regional languages. Lastly, in the Southern part, there should be a common language which can be used, English is not the one as most rural areas can't speak it, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam are also limited to their states only, so Hindi can act as a middle ground but Southern politics will never allow it.

Yeah more than Hindi (which is Urdu's brother as both diverged of Mughal Harem language - Hindushtani) regional languages are more connected to Sanskrit in daily vocabulary, classical literature & Grammar. So first foster the education in classical literature and grammar works of regional languages and their connections with Sanskrit either directly/ indirectly by common roots/traces/ influence/sharings / essences then naturally they will be introduced to Sanskrit which then can be taught easily and we can move towards making it national language. Nothing should happen by force but through conciliation.

My cousins treated me like shit because I couldn’t speak decent English, I was mocked in school and was subjected to utter humiliation. Now that I have learned and speak efficiently, they are finding new parameters to judge. So no matter what everyone will keep judging you regardless of what you achieve. I think if our job market can accept Hindi/telugu/Tamil or whatever and communicate in that language, judgement around English can easily be shut down. After entering 10th class i loved the hindi lessions and poems because of our hindi sir , he is real chad of our school ( our sir speaks pure hindi so well that even math teacher or any other teachers can't understand it ). So i started love hindi more and will learn pure hindi . Hindi is hated due to the poverty prevalent in Hindi heartland (UP, MP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh & Rajasthan). Once this regions become prosperous, Hindi language will regain its respect. English is very helpful to travel within state because every state have their own language, so its hard to communicate with them untill english speaker dont come.

आपकी बात बिल्कुल सही है 👍 में CBSE बोर्ड के ही इंग्लिश मीडियम स्कूल से पढ़ा हु और उस दौरान मुझे भी जाहिर सी बात है इंग्लिश अच्छी आती थी और अभी आती है पर मेरा बचपन से ही हिंदी पर एक गहरा लगाव था और मुझे हिंदी भाषा में कुछ भी पढ़ने सुनने पर अपनापन का एहसास हुआ करता था और आज भी होता है । मुझे आज भी याद है जब मैं 2015 चौथी कक्षा में था तो उसे दौरान मेरे ट्यूशन सर ने मुझे अंग्रेजी में डिक्टेशन बोला कुछ शब्दों का और फिर हिंदी में ईमला कहीं कुछ शब्दों की, तो उन्होंने देखा कि मेरे अधिकांश अंग्रेजी शब्दों में स्पेलिंग मिस्टेक थी जबकि हिंदी में मेरी कोई खास इतनी मात्राओं की कमी नहीं थी मैंने सब कुछ बढ़िया लिखा था यह देखकर उन्हें पता नहीं अब मेरी हंसी उड़ाई या नहीं मैं नहीं जानता पर एकदम हैरान होकर एक मुस्कुराहट के साथ वह कहने लग गए कि तुम इंग्लिश मीडियम के बच्चे हो और इतनी परफेक्ट हिंदी लिखते समझते हो चाहे तुम्हारी अंग्रेजी इतनी बेकार है जबकि तुम्हारी तो अंग्रेजी काफी अच्छी होनी चाहिए थी और हिंदी बेकार होती तो मैं समझता, तब मैं बच्चा था तो मुझे कुछ खास फर्क तो नहीं पड़ा पर आज जब इस घटना को याद करता हूं तो मन में अजीब महसूस होता है । ऐसा ही हाल मेरे सारे घर वालों का आज तक है मेरी मासी लोग हिंदी मीडियम से पढ़े हुए हैं उत्तराखंड बोर्ड से हालांकि आज उनकी अंग्रेजी काफी अच्छी है पर वह सब भी हिंदी को काफी अलग ही तरीके से लेते हैं और अंग्रेजी को कुछ ज्यादा ही अहमियत देते हैं यहां तक की मेरे अपने ही घर वालों ने कई बार तो मेरे हिंदी प्रेम की आलोचना तक करी है पर जब मैं उनसे कभी अंग्रेजी में बात करता हूं तो एकदम बहुत भौचक्के होकर मेरे को सुनाने लग जाते हैं और मुझे अपेक्षा करते हैं कि मैं और कुछ अंग्रेजी में बोलता रहूं । मुझे उपन्यास पढ़ने का भी काफी शौक है तो इसलिए ठीक 1 महीने पहले मैंने मुंशी प्रेमचंद की लिखी हुई उपन्यास पुस्तक "कायाकल्प" खरीदी थी उसे जब मेरी छोटी वाली मासी ने देखा एकदम हंस के बोल पड़ी कि तुम हिंदी में नोवल पढ़ते हो इंग्लिश मीडियम बाय होके, ऐसे ही जुड़ी ठीक ऐसे ही घटना 1 साल पहले मेरे एक रिश्तेदार के घर में हुई जहां पर उनके घर में एक शाम एक छोटा बच्चा आया था पड़ोस का में भी वही था वह भी अंग्रेजी मीडियम स्कूल में ही पढता है अचानक से शायद पता नहीं क्या हुआ उसके मुंह से गलती से किसी बात पर रसोई शब्द निकल गया तो इतने में मेरे मौसा जी ने उसको टोकते हुए बोला की ये रसोई क्या बोल रहे हो? तुम इंग्लिश मीडियम के बच्चे हो तो इंग्लिश में किचन कहो । मैं उनसे उस वक्त तब ज्यादा कुछ नहीं कहा बस मौन रहा पर जो भी हो मैं हिंदुस्तानी हूं मेरी मातृभाषा हिंदी है और मुझे अपनी हिंदी पर ही खुशी है और मुझे हिंदी में ही अपनेपन का एहसास होता है हां मुझे अंग्रेजी आती है और मैं अंग्रेजी के खिलाफ नहीं हूं पर मैं उसके पीछे औरों की तरह इतना पागल नहीं बनना चाहता की आजीवन उसको ही अपना सर्वस्व मानकर पड़े रहूं मेरे लिए अंग्रेजी केवल जनसंचार का एक अच्छे माध्यम वाली भाषा है ना ही की कोई उच्च कोटि का ओहदा, मैं चाहता हूं कि मेरा आगे भी चलकर यह हिंदी प्रेम ऐसे ही कायम रहे 💞🇮🇳💞🙏💞🙏🇮🇳💞

Before independence English people were considered to be superior after independence English speaking people are considered to be superior. Our country got independence but we never came out of colonial mindset.

True, many people in the South might not be comfortable with Hindi, but English has been part of India’s system for a long time. It's not about rejecting Hindi, but English is often easier to learn because it's used in education, business, and internationally. Language choices depend on many factors, not just patriotism.

Many people think that only hindi is spoken in north india but its not.... We can understand hindi because its similar to what we speak.... My first language is bagri second hindi third english and than in 6th I studied sanskrit and in 7th and 8th punjabi and I completely understand punjabi

hindi course pure india me nahi chalta aur english k liye gali gali mohlle tak banner lagaye jaate hai , jiski jaadi demand hogi uska jayada dominance aur effect hoga , every gov. paper to important doc. are in english so why not english is much valuable

i do agree on the point that people who can fluently speak english gets better treatment BUT the problem with people who cant speak in eng is they are not fluent enough in hindi too. being good in communication in any language will obviously give u an edge. and while I think knowing english is actually a good thing and it is one of the most spoken languages in the world THAT SHOULDNT BE THE REASON TO BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST

Don't hate other language , learn every languages , your spirit will not go to heaven by your known distinct languages, give priority while visiting every state try to learn their language to convey message along with english . Don't fight over language, make discrimination and spread hate and teach this moral behavior to your children too not to be biased in name of language while staying in India. But I must recommend compulsorily learn Sanskrit language.
