Why Indonesia Built a Farm on Water.

Wow. This thing just opened and it is huge! This is Cirata, the largest floating farm in Southeast Asia - and it doesn't grow rice. It's thousands of solar panels designed to create new energy for Indonesia.
It took a lot of hard work and collaboration between the UAE and Indonesia. Thanks to‪@MasdarVideo‬ for creating this impactful project. This is proof that good things can happen when we work together.

As an Indonesian, this is something unexpected to me. I mean, I’m currently studying in the Netherlands and took a minor about energy; I learnt that wind turbines are built offshore to save space. I didn’t know the same concept can be applied to solar panels. Speaking of, our new capital is planned to be a ‘green city’ with green energy exclusively used, in my opinion. She says the electricity problem in her hometown affects her decision of which type of appliance to buy when designing her new house, as blackouts will happen to her family few times per year, even though it's already much less often now compared to old days. Don't only think about the large cities. What's so surprising some areas still experience not enough electricity in a huge developing country like Indonesia.

I dont know but they should assess the potential problem of this solar panel in the sea, we all know how a metal is can be prone to heavily corrosion, plus and if these would be stainless or plastic what would be the total cost by creating this compared the benefits it would take to a people, it is easy to say you can generate electricity but the cost in maintenance probably a main problem.
