At 6:42 when your son jumped into the pool was the X4 in the dive case? This is exactly the kind of shot I'd like to capture on an upcoming vacation but I'm unsure whether the dive case will be essential for a few pool shots transitioning from above the water to below it.

The trick with 360 cameras is to set the bitrate on the camera the highest for recording, when you export from Insta360 Studio, export at H.265 or ProRes (biggest file size), and set the Bitrate to 125 to 150 or higher, it will just make the file size huge with very little dif when you're at that high of a bitrate. When I do this, my videos are always clear, crisp and smooth from my X4. The other thing is, with 360 camera, you have to becareful not to over zoom on the timeline, this will kill your resolution but that's pretty common with zooming. ;)

Rob you should mention how amazing the Dolby Vision looks on the X4. The video is amazing when rendered in HDR and viewed on HDR capable display or TV.

If you Film so much on your vacation, How does the Battery perform?

Pretty good. I usually shoot smaller sections at a time...so 3-4 minutes and i also have 4 batteries which keeps me going the whole day, even if i decide to shoot longer videos

Yes, i only use them in certain situations, like motovlogging, mounting the X4 on the car, cycling etc

I have the X2 and love it on my motorcycle. I am planning to upgrade to this model and use the X2 as a b roll. I have Pocket 3 also. It is a very nice camera but less durable.

Great video as usual, I'm loving my X4 the more I use it. There's a lot of things you can do IF you're know what you're doing ;) I'll typically shoot with the X4 and Ace Pro and you can't beat this combo to get every angle. I do wish that Insta360 will bring Shot Labs into the desktop studio though, I prefer to do most of my stuff on either my PC or laptop tbh.

I love mine, but the darn thing overheated underwater while shooting 8K. I missed two sea turtles that swam right underneath me because I thought it was still filming. I would’ve designed a dive case that allowed water intrusion into a cooling jacket at the base of the camera to prevent that from happening. Other than that, the footage that I did was literally astonishing.

That´s interesting, never happened to me. Could be that the camera was to close to the surface and heated up inside the dive case. Ill definitely put this to the test in a month or so! ^^

Well, you put forward some good arguments to support your slightly dramatic title! Something which might make an interesting not very long video would be one demonstrating the cut reframe feature (shared of course with earlier versions) including a shot of two people at a table having a discussion maybe about the camera, edited with cut reframing so that you see the two of them, then just one, then the other, but meanwhile the discussion flows but it looks like it was shot with three cameras. And other uses for that technique.

Basically multicam editing then. Export 1 clip facing 1 person, then export the same clip again and face the other person, then start cutting as you wish

@@RobHK No need to do all that. Just reframe from one person to the other as required during the single clip when editing, but set the reframe not to pan from one to the other, but cut. The rightmost symbol of the reframe options in the PC software.
