Me. In Turkey usury is bad, not banks. Money should flow instead of staying with you. Why wouldn't you put your money to a bank so someone can take credit from that bank and honestly earn more money by working/running that money? There were no banks back then. Nor Euler's number(limit). Economy is a science, I hope most of the "ilim"s(Turkish word coming from Arabic عِلْم )will be restored and called as one of "social sciences". There is a word bilim(looks same but interestingly the root is totally different: from Old Turkic 𐰋𐰃𐰠 bil-, “to know”). I encourage everybody for further research about the topic. I wish everybody to get the same sense of economy here because I wish the best for my other Muslim brothers, too. In addition, I'm 16 I can't earn money yet but I'm planning to invest companies who are building clean jobs, industries, clean energy etc. So more people can work on more jobs and earn helal money. Wish you all have a good day, take care :)

I understand usury is haram but let's be honest. With inflation running around 3% on average every year. If persons A lends $1000 to persons B to be giving back in 10 years. Person A would end up losing 30% of that $1000. In other words no one would be lending anyone any money anymore. We need to find a balance that makes sense while respecting our religion.
@Nobody-q2j5 ай бұрын
Inflation only happens because of quantitative easing and money printing. Now they just add 1s and 0s in computers, give you a plastic card, and tell you it’s “money”. There is no alternative. Allah determined that money is a tangible asset. Rice, Salt, Gold, Silver. The idiots at the top don’t want anybody to be in agriculture and have natural resources because they want you to invest your life into a system that enslaves you to debt so you are incentivized to get up for work everyday, work 90 hours a week, go into debt, and keep working until your 75 years old and by that time you will have enriched the few while the many are drowning in debt. Living in the west is haram. And if you made Hijra here, prepare for judgement day.

Riba was forbidden because it makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. However, by buying a house through a mortgage the poor are finally able to become rich. Homeowners generally have a net worth 100x that of a renter. Renters will remain slaves to the rich people. In that essence, I believe the benefit from buying the house greatly offsets the little interest you pay for the service (especially when considering inflation, and that a house's value increases by average 3% a year) I believe Muslims not buying houses in the western world will only serve to make us second class, citizens under the control of the landlord, and not under our lord. God bless, and guide us to the truth.
@roberthannah79835 жыл бұрын
"it makes the rich richer and the poor poorer" - the rich never got that way by letting their money sit in a bank! The rich got that way through business and entrepreneurship. Interest in modern financial markets is not the same as riba from the time of the prophet, when debtors were sold into slavery - which is obviously why he condemned it. I agree with your reasoning in the modern context - Muslims should use the modern financial system with prudence and care to purchase a house if they want to.
@roberthannah79835 жыл бұрын
@A Hasnath As you may know Caliph Umar regretted that the prophet did not clarify what he meant by riba before his death. This has led to a lively debate on the meaning of riba - is it all interest, or just exploitive and unjust financial practices? The majority of classical and revivalist scholars (including Taqi Usmani) believe the former, while modernists like Fazlur Rahman Malik and Abdullah Saeed believe the latter. Does the majority qualify as a concensus of scholars (ijma)? I do not think so.

Yasir Quadhi doesn’t adress the fact that money is used as a reference instead of gold which we have no control over. During the time of the prophet PBUH gold was used as currency. Money is being printed & inflated, with the supply being manipulated by the Federal Reserve through quantitative easing. Therefore islamicaly we need to use Gold as a reference, a stable currency, to avoid dealing with interest. We should follow whatever Allah has commanded us to do without question, but we also need to understand how to do that properly. The Islamic scholars may have a good understanding of the religion but unfortunately lack understanding of Finance. The fact they don’t adress this issue i.e. use of an interest-based currency defeats the purpose of avoiding interest. The manipulation of the money supply through quantitative easing also causes inflation. In summary we should use Gold as a reference or currency & do not charge interest. If another currency is used instead of Gold then a fee has to be charged to stay in line with Gold. I wish Muslim scholars deal with this issue properly.

How do you buy a house in the west without using riba
@Mukeet-Khan5 жыл бұрын
There are Islamic organizations (like "Guidance" for example) which make a PROFIT over the commodity like a house or car, directly. NOT on the money lent. Banks lend out money (of which they charge interest), they don't buy the house/car. So 4 example, the Islamic Organization may buy a house for $250,000 but sell it to you for $300,000. You don't have to pay it all at once obviously. You can just make monthly payments over a few years until you've paid $300,000 over time. Understand? Riba is making a profit from lending/receiving MONEY. Not a profit over a physical commodity like a house/car/boat. If a reseller buys many cars at a wholesale price and sells one to you DIRECTLY, for a profit (monthly payments over time), then there is no Riba as no money was lent and no profit made from MONEY. Same concept. Hope that helps. Salaam
