@@Alias_Anybody Why do you say “locked” into the ecosystem? As someone who uses a lot of apple products and non-apple products, I see a clear distinction between the idea of being “locked” into the ecosystem, and actually just willingly choosing apple’s ecosystem since it is a much more elegant and seamless experience than the alternative. Edit: to be clear, from my vantage point, there isn’t a reason why I couldn’t just buy a non-apple product and use it to it’s fullest potential. It’s just that it is often more convenient to use apple’s alternative because they actually optimize for the user experience.

The whole thing and when it comes time to upgrade my phone if I want to get anything other than another iPhone than my watch and laptop both lose a lot of their functions and become a lot less valuable so I’m kinda forced to just get the next iPhone. It’s a decision I’m fine making since I love apples products, but I am locked in a sense unless I’m willing to spend thousands on all new hardware. The simple way of thinking is I don’t want to connect my AirPods to an Android and I don’t want to buy new headphones so I just get the next iPhone.

From a Pixel user (and former Nexus line), i do love how google pushes the envelope. This then results in projects getting dropped or stalling out. I do sometimes wish for more integration.

Of course, it's easier to piggy back, when u seen it before. For 200$ more it's seamless. Not worth it when u consider that u can make it seamless too on android for any google device. Developers out their have created software for any google product to seamlessly work and most of it is free. It dose take time for new features to be implemented but they don't for free, not like apple.

This is probably the most neutral and logical comment in this comment section, thank you. I'm team Samsung and even I think this is smart of Apple. I will never call them innovative because well, stealing ideas isn't innovative. But the ability to improve existing software without risking anything (because like you said, other companies do the "beta testing") is seriously impressive. Apple is definitely leaps ahead in integration and ecosystem strategy. I think it's pretty predatory since you literally can't leave the ecosystem once you're invested in it. But it's really damn smart, business wise.
@AJ-vs3yz3 жыл бұрын
And it doesn't effect Android phones at all rather it helps them, so its a win - win, basically most of the android users would generally want more features and faster integration of those features rather than completely 100% polished features, of course this is not everybody but most, whereas most iPhone users would want less features if it means that the features they have are going to be completely integrated and fully polished and well built, so apple in a way helps android phones by not doing features quickly as that leaves the market open for android competitors whereas on the other hand android helps ios by integrating features before then which allows them to well utilise the information and the beta testing that android did to apples advantage.
@santanag24703 жыл бұрын
Apple needs to do something with the extra space on larger phones though. I mean makes no sense having more screen and not being able to capitalize on it and this is where they’re taking to long.
@andrewgardiner63103 жыл бұрын
As a developer myself, I strongly believe that the new "bleeding" cutting edge tech is what drives the software market in the first place! Apple uses other company's development to their full advantage by watching what new features are introduced and how well it is received. When something catches their interest and they perceive enough interest in the market for it... THEN they will spend the money to implement it using their ecosystem. It has certainly worked well for them! Personally, I'm too impatient and I love the one feature that Apple will not offer... development mode!

And people be like " AppLe aDDed iT aNd it's peRFect " and then those same people say trash about the company which actually brought the new feature , worked on it , perfected it . They say the company brought the product first time and it was not perfect , it lacked this and that . Like if it's the first time of some new tech then it's gonna have some flaws . After a few generations of improvements only it's going to be perfect. They don't understand that .

I can definitely understand this viewpoint. For me though, I barely even know what Google does. I do own an Galaxy Note 20 for work, but I seriously only use it for Slack. Nothing about it has made me want to switch. It is not a bad device at all, but I am just so locked into Apple that I do not care what anyone else has. Almost all of my tech devices are Apple or Apple Friendly, so when something new is introduced, even if others have it already, it still feels new to me. I've never been a huge Apple fan and although my family still owns a few Apple devices, I have always gone towards Android for my phones and Windows for my computers but I have to admit that the extra time for Apple to implement features is often worth it. As it often feels like Apple takes their time because they know their final result will be better than the competition whereas, the rest of the industry immediately implements whatever features Apple comes out with as they are fearful of falling behind. It just portrays confidence and often a better result with Apple.

That's why features are often missing or added later (e.g. look up why the iPad doesn't have a default calculator app). Companies like Google have to keep innovating and pushing new features to keep people's attention, so they never have time to make any of it perfect. Screen on time, since last full charge, 2 hours 40 minutes. 32% battery left. This morning when I left my house. It was at 49%. Right now it's at 32%. Just 1 hour only, listening to KZbin music. The screen does not look that good. I have it on WQHD. I can't tell the difference between 1080 and 1440. It looks no better than my iPad mini 4 screen. And the phone has a greenish color to it. Sometimes it gets a little warm, just for using it for 1 minute. Something like checking my email. I've been using it for the last month. I still don't like it. I have to same problems. The Microsoft launcher made it a lot better. But Samsung settings are still unorganized. The battery just sucks. It has 92% life. But like today, with light use, 15 minutes screen on time. The battery went from 100% to 75%. Over night, it uses 4%. I put it on the lowest screen setting. Still doesn't help. Sometimes I charge my iPad on this phone to 100%. The next morning, like 8 hours later. iPad will have 99 or 100% batter left. Android will have 95% or 96% left. Even though the iPad have a 22% bigger battery, it still uses less power. I tried it with the same apps on them, the same notifications. I'm always forgetting Android does not have pinch to zoom on KZbin. I think using if for 1 month is plenty of time. There's lots of little things that are annoying, and pisses my the F off.

@@saulgoodman2018 Maybe you should have tried easy mode. It basically makes it like an iPhone so the elderly get less confused. Apple products are dumbed down. I agree without tech skills you should go to an iPhone because its harder to screw up. I don't WANT notifications from widgets who would want that. Op it's gonna be 3 degrees colder in 5 days. An app only playing in landscape mode sounds like you enabled landscape lock. Battery life can be weird certainly if you don't do the right settings. But I'd rather have the CONTROL than be locked into whatever the company decided was best. Heat sounds like a you issue. My phone only ever gets hot under heavy processing or left somewhere hot. You pinch out not pinch in to zoom. Also I don't wanna fucking zoom in on some dudes face that sounds weird. And Samsung makes apples screens so I wouldn't use that as an argument lmao. Ever considered that maybe apples is falsely colored befause I'm looking at white right now and ITS WHITE. not to mention you can adjust the way the screen colors show really easily so if green was such a problem you could have changed it. Search is a basic android function it only has ACCESS to search default apps. What other app would you want it to search? Also there's a show more button if what you are looking for isn't there. Pretty sure I only ever use it for settings or finding an app. The Samsung "bloatware" is actually extremely useful. And gives you a choice between Google and Samsung (I know Apple people are afraid of choice) I had one iPhone ever. The iPhone 3G. It couldn't shoot video so I was done. Everyone is allowed their own preferences that's fine but not liking something because you don't know how to use it is silly. Also everyone hated bixby Now let's hear whar you like. Because even I who abhors Apple products can find small things I like. Like the simplicity for people who don't want to deal with settings and the ability to send large files relatively easily

@@NoThankUBeQuiet After using Galaxy 10+ for 8 or 9 months. I've changed my tune. I like Android over iOS. The problem with the battery and back button fixed with the Samsung UI update. Now I cannot live without a back button. I use the back button all the time to go back to the previous page. And I don't have to go all the way to the top of the phone, and have to use 2 hands. The few apps that Apple does have a back button, it brings you back to the home page instead of the previous screen. When you are like 5 levels deep in an app, going right back the the app home page is annoying. The thing about pinch to zoom on IOS, was from putting videos in or out of full screen. Landscape lock is not on. And bejeweled still play in landscape. Haven't played it in a couple months, so I don't know how it is now. That was the only app I have a problem with. Notifications, I was talking about a text, call, or email popup. But I've gotten use to it now, and now having it popup. Samsung settings menu is still unorganized. But the screen still acts weird at times. Sometimes it turns to a blueish or a yellow greenish tint. Because of Android, I hardly use my mini 4. Which started to have battery, heat, and slowing issues, every since iOS 15 was released. The same time they released the mini 6. Now thinking about getting a Samsung S tablet. Not the S8. That's too expensive.

@@saulgoodman2018 Android definitely has it’s benefits over IOS, I’m switching back to Android tomorrow, but iPads are sadly still wayyy better than any Android tablet. Especially now that the Air has the M1 chip, there is not better tablet on the market. I hope Android catches up soon, because Apple needs competition in the tablet space again. All we’re missing is a proper files app with a loading bar and the ability to access steam, because there is no way in hell the M1 chip couldn’t at least run Skyrim-era games, even if running in some kind of virtual machine. There are some decent Android tablet that do have some minor upsides, but as a daily driver iPads with a Folio/Magic Keyboard can pretty much replace a laptop.

I will always agree that Apple's OS features are much better implemented than Android ... the question is, are they 5+ years better? Android features like Widgets or Google Lens were always a lil sketchy at first, but they got polished soon after, and still well before Apple releases their "polished" version. Edit: Just adding the fact that this isn't of only new Androids either. I'm typing this from my stock LG V20 on Android 8.0.0, which has had PiP, Multi Window, widgets, and other such features for years with no problems.

Literally the same thing happens on Apple and iOS platforms too. Lazy developers exist on all platforms. And in the first place, no, "100 million users" is a disingenuous figure, because the distribution of lazy developers is so widespread and the installs of apps that are developed by lazy developers are so arbitrary and obscure that you would barely get any fruit from trying to find one if you were a hacker.

@brendanhonea14323 жыл бұрын
@Jay Talents it’s a double sided issue. They are putting the user experience first, which is why they are so successful and people love their products. By the same token, they also manufacture all of their own hardware and internals unlike literally every other tech company, and this enables better UX through hardware native integrations, different devices run the same architecture etc. But all of that proprietary hardware is why it’s so hard to repair Apple devices. I don’t know what the answer is but it just seems to me than as technology evolves to become more and more complex and integrated, repairing our own devices will natural become infeasible because it’s no long “unplug this chunky component and replace it with a new one”, everything is becoming more interconnected at a very low level, at least in Apple’s case. I agree that they probably are an extreme example of right to repair but if the reasons for doing so are to give us a more integrated and fast user experience, do we stop them?
