Why is Alexei Shirov under so much stress?

Alexei Shirov is one of the absolute legends of chess. In fact his opening preparation and memory are considered to be outstanding. But in the modern era when younger GMs come prepared with lines, it becomes extremely difficult for a player like Shirov to keep up. Chess board is in his brain. If we take a brain scan of top chess players we see lot of connections not found in normal players.

Chessplayers NEVER used to do this. It's a bad habit adopted en masse just like twirling the Chess pieces which was NEVER done twenty years ago. It's PROOF that Human Beings are nothing more than automatons. 😒
