Oh, yes! Argentina and Italy share much of their culture. And Argentina and Uruguay have practically no cultural barriers at all! The accent of Uruguayans and people from Buenos Aires is basically the same and there are only a few subtle vocabulary differences.

Excellent. Very good indeed. Good level of language and clearly articulated. I actually suggested a while ago that you do some factual stuff about Argentina (I am sure that you don't remember!) and it is very pleasing to see this being done. I find this much more compelling than fairy stories, though of course tastes very. It is good to have this option. Thank you.

I love your videos. They are always so clear and at the same time interesting with vocabulary that I am sure will be useful. A question though. I need to watch the video many times to learn the vocabulary... so would it be possible to make them so that the subtitles could be switched on or off? The first time I watch the video it is helpful to see both the Spanish and the English translation. But then I would like to watch the video again with only the Spanish. After that I would like to be able to watch with no subtitles at all! After all, the hardest thing is just listening to a language and being able to understand it! Is this technically possible? p.s. As the KZbin option for subtitles is enabled here (I presume you did that) maybe just leave it at that as they CAN be turned on and off, and not put put the words on the screen?

Hi, Pamela! Thank you so much for your comment and your feedback on subtitles. We have been considering the option to make subtitles optional. So far, most of our viewers appreciate the hardcoded subtitles, but we're thinking about changing it eventually, or creating some specific videos with softcoded captions for those like you that would prefer to have the option to turn them off. Please, don't hesitate to let us know if you have more thoughts on our content. We love to hear from you.

@@StoryLearningSpanish fabulaudit actually knows of comprehensible input and perhaps has encountered the studies which indicate that watching material in a foreign language with native subtitles turnt on results in very little learning. what you do is brilliant, but i highly suggest you deactivate the english subtitles, because too many are tempted to just read them, which leads to no progress. it‘s also hard to miss them since they‘re right under the foreign subtitles.

For those who are saying Maradona surname is Spanish, I've no idea the origin of his surname, but Diego M. said in my interviews that he felt in home in Napoli. Because the ancestors of his mother came from Napoli. So... in his family tree, there is Italian blood.

Why do Spanish speakers say "eh ta" instead of "estas"
@chesarosanroman499
@chesarosanroman499 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, what you mention is a characteristic particular to the Spanish from Buenos Aires and Uruguay. Every “S” that is right before a consonant we pronounce it as some sort of “inhaling S”. It’s like inhaling with your mouth open. And I have no idea why we do that or where it came from.
@StoryLearningSpanish
@StoryLearningSpanish 2 жыл бұрын
Chesaro's absolutely right. In some Spanish-speaking countries, it's normal to "drop" or "inhale" the "S". In Argentinian Spanish, it happens when the "S" is before a consonant. In some othe countries or regions (and also in Argentina), it's normal to drop the "S" at the end of a word: _está'_ instead of _estás_ .
@TomRNZ
@TomRNZ 2 жыл бұрын
@@chesarosanroman499 I would say it's an "aspiration" rather than "inhaling". It's similar to the English "h" or the Spanish "j". It's also not particular to Buenos Aires and Uruguay either. Many regions in many countries do it, including coastal regions of Colombia and Venezuela and some parts of Spain.
@chesarosanroman499
@chesarosanroman499 2 жыл бұрын
@@TomRNZ The word “aspiration” has a whole different meaning in English, more related to whishing and longing than with the action of breathing air in through the mouth, that’s why I didn’t use. And yeah, It might be also used in other Spanish speaking countries o regions I don’t know of.
@TomRNZ
@TomRNZ 2 жыл бұрын
@@chesarosanroman499 I'm a native English speaker, and like many words in English, "aspiration" has more than one meaning. As well as the meaning you mentioned, it's also used in linguistics to describe producing a sound with an exhalation of breath. "Inhale" is to breath in, so it's not the right word to use when describing the "s" sound in these dialects of Spanish.
