What if Gen 1 retyped existing mons into part Dragons before release? Being the; Charizard, Gyarados, Slowpoke, Aerodactyl, and Horsea(pre-Kingdra) lines. While Dragonite resembled its pre-evolutions(like Milotic, but blue & white)? And if Dragon Types had stronger moves back then? What would've changed about the first games? Such as Elite Four Lance's team?

I have hated Charizard since about gen 4. The popularity of it doesn't match up to how good it actually is and game freak started ramming more and more Charizard into the games. Sword and shield, I believe the first pokemon you see is Charizard. Why? By the way, if we are talking about gen 1 starters, I'm team Pikachu. It was my first game and pokemon. Holds a special place in my heart, but unlike Charizard fans, I don't deny that the line has major flaws.

Nah it doesn’t. Charizard is just a fire breathing dragon, there’s nothing special about it. Blastoise is a giant cool looking turtle with cannons on his back and venasaur is indeed a plant dinosaur. But you don’t see that everywhere where as dragons are pretty basic and not that special

I just have flash backs of that one kid in primary school who had a Charizard, the artwork, the HP, the badass colour and holographic - if you had a Charizard you were a legend for the short while when Pokemon cards were allowed in schools (they were quickly banned from virtually every UK school due to stealing, fights, regretful trades etc), I look at them now and I'm transported straight back there and the feeling of wanting that card so badly. I think everyone who buys them for high prices nowadays is buying based on a similar instinct! I never had one, but I do remember having a Zapdos I was very fond of, but I think my dad still has my Pokemon cards permanently confiscated from 20 years ago!

As much as I love Charizard and Charmander was the first Pokemon I got when I got Pokemon Red on release day in America, I say it's HIGHLY OVERRATED!!! People claim it's invincible but it has SO MANY weaknesses and it's so easy to counter sadly. And if your opponent has stealth rocks....well that's a BIG OOF for Charizard. Someone claimed "IT IS UNBEATABLE!!!" And I beat his and said "Ummm...no it's not and I was an OG Charizard trainer."

Charmander/Charizard has always been special to me because it was the first ever pokemon card I got as a kid. The base set Charmander will always be special to me! I think it is recognized by fans of all levels because it was just an overall cool looking pokemon!
