Not a fan of Logan at all, but I am really pleased for Max. As someone who is autistic myself, it is EXTREMELY hard to find work while having social difficulties. So I am pleased that Max is using his time as world champ to get the big paydays, he is looking out for his future where he may not be able to so easily secure work. (I know he would easily walk into any job within cubing, but he is being smart by securing the big paydays now)

@@indiahawkins4559We can probably expect some similar events to this one, especially if it proves to be popular. It's not how regular comps are going to be (and probably not major championships either). Cubing at the top level has been extremely competitive for years, but regular cubing comps remain similar to how they have always been. The closest we have is Worlds 2025 with its phased registration system, but even that system is explicitly designed to not exclude the slower cubers, but just make sure top level solvers have a chance to compete for the top level titles which they have worked so hard towards.

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand I'm very happy for Max and I hope he gets good money from this deal. But on the other hand I don’t think Logan Paul/Prime and cubing is a good fit. Prime is garbage and certainly not a drink that kids (and really anyone else) should consume but that’s exactly the demographic they are targeting with sponsoring Max. I’d prefer a sponsor that's not bad for the health of the community and helps cubing grow organically. I'm all for growing cubing but not at all cost.

some of my favorite esports teams are sponsored by companies that range from me disliking to hating them, but I'd rather they have the money needed to compete. I don't think I wanna know the amount of money people like Max Park spend on travel and hotels and such to get to competitions, having a sponsor cover that is probably beyond amazing for him, so I'm gonna ignore that I just found out there's another brand that I hate.

I don't understand why people would be mad at Max. Is it just cause it's Logan Paul? This is probably the biggest thing that has happened to cubing since Erno Rubik invented the cube. You now have outside businesses wanting to get involved. It can only get better for cubers. People complain about everything.

When I was sub 20 in January and now in may I'm sub 15 how long to sub 12 10 and 6 should it take me?

Sub-15 to sub-12 might take as long as 20-15. 12 is a particularly difficult barrier, so for that I’d say around 6 months to a year. Sub 10 to sub 6 is something that just isn’t possible for most people. If you have a lot of time and want to mainly practice 3x3 it can happen, but 10-6 is an insanely long journey I’d imagine, for most who aren’t 6 years old it’s a 5+ year thing from 10-6. Still I’d say only around 10-20 people in the world are globally sub 6

I guess if you want to make a living out of cubing, this is a necessary step (by this I mean getting external sponsors) It is impossible that you like all sponsors of a particular sport, and someone has to break the ice, it will likely be someone willing to take risks and be quite unconventional

I absolutely love how you mention this is great for cubing and I absolutely agree. While there are "controversies" with Logan Paul and Prime will they really affect cubing? And also if it's really thecase where you care so much about a clean "sponsor" how come you don't care about athletes or influencers who are signed by companies who are clearly scams? Or people who collab or interact with influencers who clearly aren't "good role models" or a scammer?

I don't like Logan or Prime, but the amount of people ignoring the positives here and the context that this deal is coming in is just absurd You should use whatever comes your way to your advantage, within moderation ofc; letting Max get his bag like this is fine, as I feel like the disadvantages of this sponsorship are pretty heavily outweighed by what the community might gain from it Either way, being si firmly against and not even considering the upside is js just plain short sighted, so they shouldn't blame Max for taking a W he deserves
