Nice job Kirk. As a bricklayer now general builder i find myself finishing off and clearing up after every other trade. Electricians and plumbers are the worst. I expect it and price for it so it doesnt stress me. As i do all my own drylining i always get reveals spot on, cavity closers in and fixed. My plasterer wouldve walked off the job and whoever fitted the window without the cavity closers in first wants a rocket where the sun dont shine. Youve clearly got the patience of a saint and a bit of savvy

Great work mate. The brickie probably left the row of bricks out thinking it would be cased in concrete and also DPC and insulation used to stop cold spots from the sil. This is how it was always done on any sites that I worked on.

I allways got told when I was learning you start with the reveals first. you find your tightest point and that's your measurement insuring the head cill and reveals will all be the same margins, because if your windows are out the reveals will be aswell
@james00021
@james00021 2 ай бұрын
Yes. That is how I was taught, to do the reveals first. The way I was taught was to start in one room, put reveals on first, then put other walls on, then go back to dab the window walls once the reveals have set. Having said that, Kirk must know what he's doing as he's been doing it for years. Everyone gets taught differently.

Nice to see pay attention to nice right angled window reveals. I recently had some plasterboarding done near a window and the reveals are all over the show. Pulled them up about it and their answer was “I plaster over what’s there, if it’s not straight it’s not my fault, I’m not gonna get a spirit level on it am I?” Not sure how to fix it now tbh 😢

Now mate a quick question for you. I have started skimming my kitchen wall with multifinish but I encountered a problem so I had to stop half way through the wall so my question is. Is it possible to start skimming again from the dry plaster I have featherd it into the wall just not sure if I need to do anything special. I am no professional plasterer but i used to work as a dry liner a good while back so no the basics and done a couple of walls at home already

Why is there so little detail paid to fitting the cavity closer? Very little info on KZbin. How was it fixed? How did you make it sturdy enought to stick your board to it?. The plastic is very flimsy. I personally think these closers are crap, prefer the old method of closing with brick/block, much stronger. Would like to see a video of you doing external render on a door for example where you have to fix some form of expanded metal lathe over the plastic closer. Got to do it at home, builder just left it because he didn't know how to finish it saying the plasterer should know. And guess what. Wish you had 100 clones working around the UK? 😅😅
