Rankhole alot you people dont even know what an engine is xD an engine isn’t this single program to create things, its just a collection of 100s if not thousands of programs working together. As time goes on some programs are changed and unchanged. Unreal 4 uses the same basis as its predecessor. Bethesda saying they are using the same “engine” does not mean its literally going to be the same looking and feeling game. Look at the leap from Fallout 3, skyrim then Fallout 4. Those three games feel and look fundamentally different.

Sean Pinette ...the engine they are using is old, bug ridden and unflexible for modding (even if you see a lot of mods there are many problems). It is a bad engine. And they will be using that? lol I hope bethesda just dies and has to sell the franchise to another company that does things right, like what happened with APB reloaded (now there's still hope for that game)

I've never preordered a game before... This year was a bit different. Red Dead Redemption and Fallout, two series I absolutely adore, were having games released this year. I was super hyped, but I was also left with a decision. I had heard that Rockstar was bringing everyone together to work on Red Dead, I was ecstatic. I had also heard that Bethesda was releasing an online Fallout experience, I was excited for that as well. But then I heard that this Fallout would not have any friendly human NPCs to give you quests or be your companions. This did not sound like the Fallout I wanted at all. I was expecting more of a Fallout New Vegas online style of Fallout, complete with degrading weapons and charming Non Player Characters to bring the world to life. What I got... Well... I got the degrading weapons, yes, but the NPCs were absent. The charm was absent. My decision was made then and there, I preordered Red Dead before the day was done. I think I made the right decision. I'm sorry to all who had a similar decision to make and got Fallout instead. I hope the game turns around, I really do. If it does turn around, I may even get myself a copy. But until that day, I will be playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and patiently awaiting its online experience. It’s fine if you didn’t like it, i myself bought a copy and does not regret a single thing. i think the graphics are really nice and the shooting is firm and feels nice. And playing with friends is also a nice touch, along with PvP. I really don’t understand why people hate it. Also i’m gonna say something that everyone will freak out about. I bought Red Dead... and i kinda hate it, i feel like they drag it out for too long. I have played GTA and loved it, so when people said it’s kinda like GTA i was super excited! but i played it and well, i personally didn’t like it. there’s no towns, no cities, nothing. and that’s kinda why i don’t like it. it’s just open plane for miles.

nothing was wrong with Gamebryo long after Morrowmind. It remained updated and modern long after and if it remained so after they incorporated the lightspeed editor... Gamebryo could had remained relevant if any title leveraged the power it had under the hood. Truth is... Bethesda always had a stable of dedicated creatives... But their graphics have been butt ugly and immature from day one and true to their legacy... remain thus. Wouldn't blame those results on the Game engine as it existed! Gamebryo once had state of the art development and pretty awesome documentation.

Yeah fallout was one of the few amazing single player games left and they decided to go with the multiplayer trend and took out human interaction which as mentioned.. made the game. The story telling was the best part. If they were gonna go the multiplayer route, maybe make it co-op or something. The problem about Fallout 76 is Multiplayer... They forgot that all their Previous game was Saved and Fixed by Moder... And now they make a Multiplayer that MODER can't do anything to fix the game, so the hand of who's fixing it is by them self... Hope they learn about their platform... I'm fine with Bethesda experimenting with the Fallout universe. I'm fine with 76 being a departure from their usual style. I'm also fine with that departure not working out; you can't innovate by doing the same thing all the time and while sometimes different doesn't mean better, it's important that they are experimenting. I am NOT fine with a 20+ year old engine, I'm NOT fine with 20+ year old bugs, I'm NOT fine with how little Bethesda (and almost any other major developer) seem to know about what their fans want or how deaf they've been to feedback. Yeah, I was kinda excited when I heard, multiplayer fallout. It would make settlement building more important and interactive with other players. It sounded like it could potentially be a lot of fun. I just can't get past the fucking 20 year old engine they've used for almost every one of their games. And to add insult to injury the new games, Star whatever and Elder Scrolls 6 are announced to be on this engine. For all we know Bethesda is never going to create a new engine but instead "update" this dinosaur for 20 more fucking years!

It should be obvious. We all know the reason why Preston Garvey became so hated and considered a meme. Its because of his boring and lifeless radiant quests where he always sends you to random locations you been to before to kill some enemies with no backstory or context behind it and return. He never stops with them and is extremely boring. What Bethesda done, in their astounding levels of stupidity, went and made a game based entirely around those quests and cut out everything that Fallout 4 did have going for it. What I ask is how could they not foresee this not being taken well by the fans? Such a concept is doomed to fail, even with the multiplayer component thrown in. All it changed was that you can be bored with your friends instead of just being bored alone.

I have been avoiding Fallout76 and I am a huge fan of the series. I love the lore and gameplay and ethics of the previous games, just not loving this iteration of it. It's barren, dull and glitchy. It's just not the "Fallout" I expected. I suppose I can only hope that it will improve and maybe they will realise what a mistake they made by dumping npcs and fix it. I know we got robots and holotapes but it is not the same. I also think the nuke option has been turned into a gigantic joke that anyone can just let off with a little bit of organisation. These are life altering events and it's been turned into an afterthought gameplay wise. The whole point of the "Fallout" series was to teach people that this is NOT the only way to play and every one loses in a nuclear scenario. Shows how little we have learned since the atomic era came about. The whole lore with "Fallout" is littered with tragic circumstances of individuals who suffered by this weapon and now it's just a toy. Well...

Fallout 76 uses 80% of the assets of fallout 4. Its fallout 4 with servers. They copy/pasted the whole game, removed all NPCs (minus the occasional droid,) and didn't even care to fix horrid bugs and server issues. Gamestop is offering this game for $40 as a black friday deal in a way to try to recoop money because people are just not buying it. A minor successful game does not get discounted 20 bucks 9 days after release. People that still bought this game after the hundreds of bad reviews from reputable reviewers are the reason that game companies continue to release inadequate games regardless of the franchise. I LOVE fallout and Bethesda games. But you have to hold the company accountable for their mistakes or things will never change. I will absolutely never buy fallout 76 regardless of how cheap it gets.

Why? Let me list the reasons. 1) The cash grab. Other than some pvp fanboys who dreamed of running around dropping fatman nukes on everyone, nobody asked for this game. The entire reason we got Fallout 76 instead of Fallout 5 or TES VI is because Todd Howard saw dollar signs in an online pvp Fallout game. 2) The laziness. By this time, I'm used to Bethesda reusing assets from earlier games. Far Harbor DLC in Fallout 4 was just a reskin of Point Lookout DLC from Fallout 3. But, they literally took assets from Fallout 4, many without even reskinning them, and reused them for Fallout 76. The planned DLC's for Fallout 76? Look for reskinned Workshop DLC, Automatron DLC, and I wouldn't be surprised if they just reskinned Far Harbor DLC. The dragon reskinning from Skyrim to do the flying mobs in Fallout 76 would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. 3) The bugs. Bethesda has always released buggy games and let the modding community fix them. The core game files at Bethesda, however, were never fixed. So Fallout 76 released with the same bugs that plagued Fallout 4. Literally. The exact same bugs. 4) The removal of story arcs. Running around a barren world listening to holotapes, running from dead body to dead body? Boy, doesn't that sound like fun! Not. 5) The progression of Fallout from RPG to FPS. I'm 51 years old. I'm from the ORIGINAL gaming generation, meaning that I played PONG in 1976 when the home console edition was released that Christmas. I've played every Fallout game up to Fallout 4. When Fallout 3 was released, I saw the conversion of Fallout from turn-based combat to the FPS mechanic and groaned. But, it wasn't all bad. They implemented VATS as a way to give us older Fallout gamers the feel of the original combat mechanic, kept decent stories and questlines, and I wound up enjoying Fallout 3. With the release of Fallout 4, I knew Bethesda was simply on the road to destroying Fallout, as a franchise, in order to appease the FPS crowd. VATS was further reduced to "slowing down combat", the story of Fallout 4 was short, side quests were turned into radiant "rinse and repeat" quests, but hey, the FPS crowd got better gunplay mechanics. Woohoo. With Fallout 76, the destruction is complete. No VATS worth a damn. No story...at all. Just run around, shoot things, and pvp. Yay. What a way to destroy a franchise. 6) The middle finger to fans. What games have fans been asking for? TES VI and Fallout 5. When will we see those games? TES VI will be another 10 years before it's released, much less patched by the modding community, IF we ever see it. Fallout 5? That'll be another 15 years AT LEAST, if not 20 years. All because Bethesda and Todd Howard decided they wanted in on the online pvp game-as-a-service money using the Fallout brand. That was a HUGE middle finger to the fans that made Bethesda the company they are today. You want the sequels to the games you've enjoyed over your lifetime? Screw you. We want as much of your money as we can milk from you. Buy this piece of garbage game we call Fallout 76, buy the crap in the online shop, give us all your money, and stop bugging us about TES VI (that's basically what Pete Hines has said).

The fact you think a game with a terrible story, lack of any actual NPCs other than robots, a horrible buggy mess at launch (and yes, of fucking course games will be buggy somewhat at launch, but 76 has had the nastiest launch problems I’ve ever seen) a shallow open world, devoid of anything interesting other than a few tidbits of stories that Bethesda likes to hide around the world. Making an inspired and well thought out project, spending time and effort to give fans the best game possible is NOT a cash grab. Yes, all games are designed to make money but you can easily tell works of art from cheap, fast food games quickly slapped together to make a quick buck with minimum effort. 2. You can NOT compare the development of Fallout New Vega by Obsidian, a relatively small gaming company at the time and Fallout 76 by a major game studio. It’s the development teams job to weed out as many as possible. You literally cannot compared a few bugs here and there in Red Dead to Fallout 76 having the exact same bugs as Fallout 4. And on top of that Bethesda usually has NO intention on EVER fixing the bugs. 4. You have no argument and even admit it. 5. He has a point. Fallout has traditionally been a single player experience. They took the fallout brand and used it for this online game even though it doesn’t really fit because they know anything with fallout will sell (again it’s a cash grab). If Grand Theft Auto suddenly became a turn based RPG, fans would complain and they’re complaints would have some legit backing. This is the first ever fallout game I don't care about at all. I don't hate it, I just have no interest in it. Bethesda decided to make an online game with no human NPCs. And guess what. Everything I thought could go wrong if they weren't careful enough went wrong. The world feels empty and not lived in, there are not many additions to the already existing fallout formula, and to me it feels just like a very bad made fallout 4. And although many people think that fo4 isn't good, at least it has free mods made by its community, which make the experience immensely better. But in 76, there will only be paid mods from the creation club that can only be used in private servers

The hate for 76 comes from the fact, the fans were teased to believe they were about to get another installment of the beloved fallout series, only to find out this is not really a fallout game at all. Sure it has the classic fallout themed skin, but it lacks that fallout felling when it come to gameplay, plus the idea of no npcs is a big killing point, they are a pivotal aspect to the fallout storyline. Without them, 76 is just a first person shooter with a fallout skin. It lacks the true essence of the series. And it is for these reasons the true fans feel betrayed, we bought and played the previous games, we fell in love with this kind of game, and with the label of Fallout, and this lame, cheap knockoff is what is being given to us is not only upsetting, but sickly laughable. And real fans/players know this is nothing more than a play for the online money train. The company cold have made a real fallout game for the fallout community, then make a separate online shooter game under a different title. And they would have not upset the fallout community, while building a new fan base for the shooter game. But they think they can mash up two different games into one and everyone will be fine with it. So there is some resentment towards the company for trying to force this sub-par game down our throats, and pretending that it's your beloved classic game with a new twist. But is just plain and simply a shooter game with a fallout themed skin. And we real fans do not like it nor accept it as a fallout game. It is sad that in these days corporate greed is killing the true gaming experience.

Then it may as well not even be there since it does absolutely nothing to me

The Anime Box you’ve already decided cp2077 is a raging success, right? Because...? Cdpr has ONE great game (w3) under their belt and that effort still doesn’t pull the total gaming hours that Skyrim routinely does. Look at hrs played for reviewers of w3 and compare to hrs played by reviewers of Skyrim. It’s often an order of magnitude more for Skyrim. I did everything there was to do in W3 and logged just over 170 hrs. Loved it but will never go back as I’ve no interest in playing Geralt one more time. I have nearly 2000 hrs in Skyrim and am still playing it in completely new ways each time. That’s what bgs brings to their open world rpgs. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely for a whole slew of folks and FO76 is every bit in that same vein. Skyrim was buggy as shit on release (anyone remember the persistent purple-white trees/ landscape...) but fun as hell to explore and discover. I’m nearly 100 hrs into FO76 and I absolutely get the same exploration and discovery vibe that I last got w Skyrim. I loved FO4 but it’s world never felt as big so I’m more than happy w 76.

@@gergory3218 I think you're the one who made the biggest assumption here. If you read my original comment, you won't find me giving any opinion on Cyberpunk itself. I personally prefer Skyrim over Witcher 3 by far, i have my reasons (No character creation and being stuck with a white haired punk and always fighting like a ballerina is one of those reasons). So we're in an agreement here. I was excited about Cyberpunk, but after the news of it being a first person only i'm not so sure anymore. But it can't be denied that Cyberpunk looks very impressive, both from technological and creative design perspective. Bethesda can't compete with that with the creation engine which still has the core coding of the 1997 gamebryo foundation. If you like 76 then good for you, i'm glad you're having a great time, but technologically Bethesda is falling behind it's competitors. Unless Cyberpunk betrays everything they showed in the trailer and the official gameplay, it will be considered a guaranteed success. Cyberpunk looks like a game that the devs have spend a lot of time on, planning, thinking, designing, testing, fixing and so on. Sure, it's a shame that they decided that it'll be first person only, but that's the only shortcoming i can see in my books regarding Cyberpunk. So before you accuse someone of being presumptuous, i'd advice to think more and not make even bigger assumptions yourself. Edit: (Also, i'd advice adding some line breaks in your long comments, it makes it easier to follow. There's a simple reason why single player franchises are bad nowadays - Multiplayer. Having so much development effort put on multiplayer is taking away development time that could have been invested making the single player experience more immersive and interesting. And because Single player games are not making any extra money to the developers and publishers (No loot boxes, micro-transactions and more useless stuff) except for maybe DLCs, and also because multiplayer does not require the company to think of an actual story, therefor cheaper to make - More and more companies are going to release shitty games like Fallout 76 because they know people are going to buy it anyway, because it has multiplayer, even if the multiplayer experience is unplayable. Remember the good old times when Fallout was single player only and the developers had so much more time to come up with a decent story? These were times when the main focus of video games was the single player, multiplayer was just an extra option, like in Call of Duty, for example. recent Call of Duty titles had those lame nano-super-duper-mega-pro-quantum fucking power suits with stupid Crash Bandicoot double jumps and more features that are clearly made for multiplayer purposes and not to aid the progression of the story, and of course the story was uninteresting and short. I instantly knew that Fallout 76 is going to suck as bad as it turned out to be, because Fallout IS NOT a multiplayer game. Making it a multiplayer game is a shitty, cheap way to make a cash grab.

If you're talking about a small developer, then you have a point. However for the larger developers, they just add additional people in for the multiplayer. Call of Duty sells well so the developers don't have any incentive for a big change to the game. In point of fact fans complained about COD moving into space instead of staying a WWII game forever. Fallout 76 is a major change and a vocal minority will always complain about changes that they don't like. I prefer a developer to experiment with games. Sometimes it will turn out well sometimes not; fans tastes do differ so a game you don't like might be a game that I like and vice versa.

FACTS! Red Dead Redemption 2 deserves GOTY HANDS DOWN! EVERYTHING ELSE ISN'T GAME BREAKINGLY NEW OR SHOCKING. Just more of the same.... Red Dead gave us a immersive environment that was soo good I'd get overwhelmed and have to take breaks because it was soo damn good of a game. SOO MUCH TO DO!! Can't say the same for FALLOUT 76 which is an embarrassment because FALLOUT is the hallmark name in big immersive games of it's kind....

Ones a kids game DELIBERATELY tailored for kids for be dumb fun and filled with shiny colors the other is a game we expect from modern REAL game development as a art and medium of entertainment.

Simply put, Bethesda doesn't deserve to be defended for this. I think Fallout fans really deserve a good story - especially those of us who have played each game since the first game (for better or for worse: FBOS & FOT). Personally, if they were going to lean towards a multiplayer game, I would have liked to see a story with co-op built in as an option, sort of like Borderlands. To me, Fallout 4 even lacked story-wise, but if that game was cooperative compatible, it would have been better, because then a few friends could have filled in for some of the lack of story.

@vomittie Story sucks and lacks actual NPCs with their own personalities to give quests, just a boring computer screen. Makes the quests feel like they don't really have a purpose. It wasn't aimed at a "More intelligent" crowd, it was a game aimed for people who are there for the multiplayer and not the actual game.

Exactly.. Scrap multi-player, double the already huge maps and add some broken ass motorcycles and some cars.. they wont run long; we can find shit to fix them up... They will help us get around, or run shit over.. also can store things in the trunk so basically as long as you have your vehicle you can carry more.

KyleTheWastelander no thanks, the moment coop or multiplayer enters a main entry is when i stop buying fallout games. Coop takes away from the singleplayer experience, anyone who wants to play sp will be stuck with a lesser enjoyable narrative experience compared to those who do coop. Borderlands, dead space 3, resident evil 5/6, and more...can be played singleplayer but obviously aren’t as great as the coop experiences

@@joshuacarpenter7447 Co-op and multi-player games are great, some of them. Sometimes you want an RPG where it is you and the story and an environment you come to know as your own alternate reality.. Fallout was always amazing. I am really unhappy about this major change in direction. I am glad to see that I am not alone.
