The reign of King Edward VIII is over. Now, the newly created Duke of Windsor begins his exile and has to wait several months before he can make Wallis his Duchess. This episode briefly explores the aftermath of the Abdication crisis.
During this episode, RHG founder Gareth Streeter and Royal commentator James Taylor explore:
The immediate 'logistics' around the Duke's relocation
A glimpse of happiness at the end of the worst year of Queen Mary's life
The controversy around the Windsor's wedding, the date and the lack of Royal attendance
The (questionably legal) decision to deny Wallis the HRH style
The Duke and Duchess's Nazi links and role in the war
The "snub" to the Windsor's at Princess Elizabeth's wedding
The ultimate death of the Duke and later the Duchess

Such a great episode..as always! For the future Q&A episode I’m curious on your thoughts about the Duke’s time in the Bahamas, and particularly his role in the murder investigation of Sir Harry Oakes. It seems like a really interesting topic.

Interesting, as always! I'm just curious as to how and why Edward would have had access to sensitive information after he abdicated? It seems like once he was no longer king, there would have been no reason for him to be informed of sensitive details or particulars. Or was he thought to have passed such information along to the enemy before his abdication when he would have been kept in the loop as a matter of course out of necessity? I hope that makes sense...!

I reckon that if either Wallis or Diana had pushed the issue by taking legal action to enforce their ability to use the title "H.R.H.", then the decision would have been formalised by ad-hoc primary legislation.
