3. VIDEO DESCRIPTION
In today's job market, finding employment has become a daunting task. The Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates has sent ripples of uncertainty through the economy, leading many companies to adopt a cautious stance on hiring amidst forecasts of a possible recession.
As someone actively navigating this landscape, I understand the frustrations and challenges faced by job seekers. Opportunities seem scarce, competition is fierce, and the constant uncertainty can be disheartening. However, it's crucial to remember that economic cycles are just that - cycles.
While the current environment may seem challenging, there are indicators pointing towards a brighter future. As inflation gradually subsides and interest rates stabilize, businesses will regain confidence, leading to increased investments and job creation. It's a matter of weathering the storm and staying prepared for the upswing.

I was just ghosted for an entry level driving position at Amazon! I have my MBA, CDL, and years of experience in business, finance, transportation and logistics. I have been unemployed since Feb and have applied for hundreds, maybe over a thousand jobs. The Amazon delivery position was my first interview in 2 months! I felt that I nailed the interview, available to work any day any time. The interviewer said I was a great fit and to expect a call that day by his boss confirming employment. I never got that call. It's hard not to take this personally. I feel like all the work I have done in my life amounts to nothing. Slowly I'm losing everything. Soon I fear I will have lost everything, not just physical things, everything!

Amazon never called me back for challenging my wrongful termination. I had a fantastic case, I named names (specifically managers) who were associated with my termination in one way or another. Don’t get your hopes up. I was told by everyone in my facility that I was one of the hardest workers they’ve seen in a long time. They never defended me when I was caught “not working.” Nobody asked why I was fired, nobody challenged the decision. I even asked coworkers to talk to managers about expediting my case. Ethics even said they’d call me back after they finished up their investigation. It’s been a month and 5 days.

I was tempted to make a layoff video myself. I was laid off as an IT Systems Analyst after 3 years with my previous employer due to an interest rate hike and restructure / merge. Money printing is the cause of inflation primarily, second followed by "corporate greed." Money printing drives up interest rates, and in return companies drive up their prices because their costs go up as well. Housing goes up because the interest rates go up, cars, food, oil / gas / energy, everything goes up because of interest rates and money printing. Corporate greed is the symptom not the actual problem of it. Never the less, it's difficult to find a good paying job right now. While I am getting interviews, I'm not getting any offers at the moment. I know I will get hired at some point in the future, but that doesn't mean we're not being negatively impacted by the current situation at the moment. Interest rates are the culprit. Because rates are high, companies cannot use leverage and therefore hire less employees. People spend less and companies have less revenue and therefore need to hire less people. When spending goes down and rates moderate, that's when companies will start to hire again.

Great video. It’s also important to note that since the majority of layoffs have been white collar jobs, most people are living off savings and severance payments instead of filing for unemployment. This continues to give the impression that unemployment is low. Simply filing a UI claim even if you don’t get it or use it will increase unemployment reporting and force the fed to really look at what’s going on.

The issue with getting a job today needs to consider the type of jobs which are in short supply. If you have a skill or experience in a job category which is in short supply, you will get a job easily. This is a list of the job types which have shortages of people to fill according to one site. solar equipment installer, wind turbine specialist, personal care assistant, nurse practitioner, statistician, assistant physiotherapist, software developer, mathematician. I do have a minor issue with this list, as software engineers are not in short supply, however there is another factor to consider with this list. Often a job class is in short supply because of the income being provided. Employers want cheap software developers, which is another factor to consider. As someone who was retrenched and who has had to find a new job my only comment is that pick a job which is in real demand and have a low income expectation. If you pick a job is in demand and you are prepared to take a low income you will get a job. Once you have a job continue the search for a better job and a higher income.

I think it is like any supply/demand problem. Here in Silicon Valley, they clearly overhired. Companies like Facebook and Google were basically warehousing employees so they could claim a stock of technical talent. Many of those people are looking for work now. The valley was in a gold rush mentality, and there was an inflow to the valley. In time, a lot of those people are going to leave, and companies are going to start hiring again. Its going to create a shortage of qualified people, and you'll hear companies complaining about that. Give it about a year to shake out. We have been through this kind of boom/bust cycle before.

There are roughly 18 million underemployed people in America, and only about 6 to 8 million job listings. Of those, a large number are ghost jobs or positions that have been filled and not taken down. They aren't hiring people because there is more profit in making a few people do more work than hiring more people handle the workload. With such intense competition for jobs, it allows employers to keep wages extremely low due to being spoiled for choice. Inflation has nothing to do with it. Inflation is built into the monetary system to enable profit through lending money. It's been that way since 1913.

We’ve been looking for work for my fiancé in the chemical engineering field. We both graduated as ChemE’s, although I graduated May of last year and he graduated August. I got accepted into a rotational program. He currently works at a grocery store since November 2023. Still on the hunt for that ChemE job, and we’re now looking more in another geographical area because I’d like to move there next year to work at the plant there, and his parents are also moving nearby to that area at the end of this year. So we’ll at least be closer to his family (he also has a great aunt and uncle that lives in that area, and he’s interned for their company before). Just gotta keep swimming in this cesspool.

I started working at 12 and I’m 40 . I’ve been a construction worker , housekeeper , nurses aide , truck driver . I’m now entering college for the first time nervous but still staying the course . Now what my main tactic will be once I achieve my degree is to start low than work my way up . If a company won’t give me the job I want I will start from the bottom gaining experience under someone with the job I want . Therefore at some stage either I will get that job from them or someone else . Experience is the key with education it’s more than one way to skin a cat . Stop the expectations of getting a high paying job right out of college . Every field I’ve ever worked required me to work my way toward high pay . Before my accident I nearly worked my way up to one-hundred-thousand a year truck driving with no degree . Now I’m thrusted into an all new scenario forced to start my life over . Find a related field that will give you experience even at a lower pay then wait 3 years . You have to crawl before you walk . Now those are my experiences of 40 years dealing with jobs and navigating them nothing will be handed to you .

I know this likely a detriment to my situation. But I have never had government assistance (food stamps and unemployment). I’ve only had medicaid which was the best thing done for my life. The problem I have with government assistance is that I know I personally get complacent. Medicaid made me not know how to deal with Dr. Appointments with healthcare jobs give. So, now I don’t even go to the hospital when required because I’m so used to not paying anything. My family looks at me weird for not using the “help.” But I can’t explain how I abhor wanting to rely on the government without sounding pretentious.

Don’t feel badly about accepting unemployment benefits, employers cover those eventualities via tax payments to state governments. So basically, it’s your previous employer giving you a bit of financial assistance. In my state, TX, previous employers must approve benefits claim before state gives out a cent…I speak from experience. Also, benefits aren’t forever, there’s a specific amount each person is entitled to. Once that amount is reached, no more benefits.

This might help. Think of reading the way you might hear someone speaking. Look for words that will work together to form sentences the way you hear people commonly speak. If the words don’t work as they should, start the sentence over and distinguish which words should be used. Take your time with it. The brain works best when calm. Best of luck to you.

5:22 the issue here is that the government has decided that they can only lower inflation by increasing interest rates. Interest rates reduce demand. But inflation is a miss match between supply and demand and the value of money. So one way to decrease inflation would be to stimulate the economy through government investment to increase supply. It's a longer term strategy, but the positive thing is that it's more productive and helpful long term, than it is to raise interest rates and basically create an artificial recession. Also, another way of reducing inflation, linked to what yiu mentioned about corporate greed, is to tax back the money tge government spent during COVID. It's kind of wild that inflation is being blamed on workers wages when corporate profits are at all time highs. If there's too much money in the system it should be taxed back from the corporations. But the corporate controlled government would never do that lol.
@mhedden033
@mhedden033 Ай бұрын
Our government spends trillions to effectively just talk trash about each other. Every dollar the government spends devalues your dollar unless they tax that dollar back from the people. The same government passed a spending increase bill called "the inflation reduction act", they cannot be trusted to make things any better.
