If mercury is only slightly larger than the moon, just exactly how small is Pluto that it doesn't qualify as a planet.

Great question! Pluto is actually smaller than Earth's Moon, which is one of the reasons it's classified as a dwarf planet. It also doesn't clear its orbit of other objects, which is a key requirement to be a planet.
