I am suprised more people do not mention, the sound track from John Wick...it is phenomenal. All of these different areas of praise and appreciation are excellent statements to the directors and producers. The simply done, yet well constructed world (assassin world), the themes, amazing stunt work, pacing, storytelling that is complimented by the Sound track and Camera work.

He met his wife, fell in love, and changed his ways. It's a redemption story, that went side ways when a punk stole his car, and killed his dog. We know what John Wick was, we also know he tried to change. We see the good in that.

YES! The whole thing had NOTHING to do wih the puppy or the car - it had EVERYTHING to do with his wife, whom he gave up killing for, and had just buried her after a horrible fight with cancer. She changed him into a human with a heart of compassion, but 'they' turned him back into a cold, heartless killing machine. The car was her first gift to him, the puppy was her last. They were the last of her physical presence with him. @joerogan

And at the end of the movie, i couldn't help but think "if someone was going to hurt my wife and kids or did, would i be able to go after the ones that did it (or were going to) like the wrath of God?". The answer was no... Now im 110kg (242 lbs), train every day. I nearly have my judo black belt, i have nonidea what belt i am in bjj, i have been doing boxing and Sombo. I loved the choice to have Vigo mention John Wick, and who he is softly. It kind of shows more that he's already weighed in on just how fuked up this situation is a little better than if he was yelling the whole time. Just a little thing, But I thought it was brilliant.

John's fighting is clumsy on purpose, it has a choreography but still looks natural and effective, it shows the cringiness of real fighting, has that real touch. There is a major point to why you are ok with John Wick is he was not really sent to just kill anyone. He was who you sent to kill the cold blooded killers. He was an assassin of assassins so it made you more ok with it.

It’s mind blowing people hear hit man or assassin and assume they must all be the same. He so good at what he does that he would only be employed for high level targets. The idea of some didn’t deserve it probably is also odd because we have no proof. The ones from the films are involved in crime that is likely quite bad. We must also remember that John would have remained at peace and non violent if he was left alone.

Aside from the redemption and love story and all that, the movies quite simply came at a time when 3 gun, MMA, and dogs are hugely popular. Yes it has all the usual ingredients of an action movie but when you add in the three elements plus the actors and choreography (and Keanu Reeves learning to do all these things) it's just an oddly refreshing series of movies. It's kind of Batman, kind of Punisher, kind of Kung Fu, kinda just cool fun movies!

What’s great is the sequels are good as well they are not made in a way that’s a quick cash grab. and they don’t reveal to much of this contract killer world. They tease you bit by bit

Yes I think arguably the film does well because it is stylish because it did have stunt men directors and yes we empathize about the home invasion grand theft auto and death of the dog but that scene gives Wick such mystique and folklore and we simultaneously witness the transformation when he goes down the steps with the sledgehammer digs up his past and becomes vengeance personified. The character suffers so much though that limits my enjoyment somewhat and never does get his freedom or peace really it's tragic.

Basically they created John Wick a monster if you like an unstoppable animal with one purpose to kill whoever you pointed him at but he woke up one day wanted out did what he needed to do and got out and became human if you like, then one day the only thing that links him to the mortal "normal" life was taken away ( his wife ) but she knows him she was the reason he did what he had to do and she left him another life to love and look after, the car was his link to his wife, the dog was the reason to not go back and they took it away from him so yeah he was back 😂 i think unleashed (jet li, morgan freeman and bob hoskins) was a similar story more raw on the creating the monster part but Danny knew he had to kill them all for it to stop so he could become normal again another great film Bob hoskins was a right bastard in it!
