to be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The mark is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are*preluxz* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do.

Dear Cassie, thank you for not hopping on the trend of selling everything. You have genuinely been loving these things. I love the stuff too. I love the hunt for a special piece and the joy of unpacking. I don't nearly buy as much as the average youtuber does - so maybe it's the redundancy for them. But for me: each piece I own is special. Each piece has a story to it about how and where I bought it. All of that. I love it and it gives me so much joy. I don't care that it doesn't make sense. Not everything has to make sense - as long as it brings joy.

I think brands are making two mistakes. One, they’re trying to stay ahead of fast fashion knock-offs instead of being the ones to set the pace. Two, a negative money-spent to experience ratio. Back in the distant Nineties, when far fewer people even dared aspire to owning, say, a luxury handbag, even customers buying a a humble carré or keychain were treated like royalty. Also, the luxury market is becoming saturated: too many brands producing too many items.

So if "no one notices" one luxury brand from another why pay a few k more? I even thought that. Why am I buying this? 1000% agreement on treatment. $150 cigars and $1000 bottles of whiskey are consumed by many men in clubs regularly, table service is pricey. At least if I purchase a necklace, a statement bag, a jacket which I will treat with care for years and maybe pass along, there's something to show for it besides a vague memory of a single night out. We are shifting priorities. It's important to help others and do some giving and volunteering wherever possible. Still nothing matches the memories I have of shopping with my Mom and Grandmother for a lovely fabulous coat or bag. Each piece symbolizes memories of great times. Cassie your channel brings me joy. The goal isn't going broke to grab every single piece each season like a fashion victim, it's loving all the beautiful pieces, then choosing only what speaks to you. Stay fabulous!💕
@aniapalus95305 ай бұрын
I agree but the main problem is that those cigars and bottles aren't duped, aren't always put on IG. Men post those cigars in cigars forum. Women place the bag strategically in the centre of a picture. We have the habit of showing off more on social media. Influencers - the majority females. So more FOMO and trying to generate jealousy. Sorry but I admittedly noticed this trend. Girls flock together to every single new trend. We're easier to manipulate.

You used the word “ridiculous”, and I think that’s really important. I remember a quote you said in your video when you bought the Versace cup. You called yourself a ridiculous person. You don’t take fashion too seriously. A lot of the people who are “giving up” on luxury DID take it super seriously, and you clearly find joy in it all. That’s what matters. When you watch the “I sold my whole luxury collection” videos… look at the “before” closets. Most of them were all beige! I wonder if these things actually brought these people joy at all. Or was it all just for social media appearances and clout?

I have an extensive luxury collection from 90s - current as a lifetime buyer. this decline reminds me of fashion lulls in the late 70s and 80s. It has always been the case that luxury was unaffordable for most with a milestone special purchase a few times in a lifetime. That changed after the millennium as fashion became more accessible. It all became unsustainable for many reasons. But there’s a bigger problem though with declining interest with people not even excited by it. More important to lifetime buyers like me is the declining quality of design and production. Quality just isn’t what it used to be and that includes the designs meeting the customer or inspiring/exciting us when fashions aren’t very wearable. I’m buying a lot less now and not just because of the price but the new fashions don’t appeal to me enough to buy and the few that do are outrageously priced. Something has to give.

I agree Cassie with a lot of what you're pointing out. Fashion is either in one's blood or it isn't. Different strokes for different folks. Since I was around three years old, I've loved fashion and have the majority of my life worn high quality pieces. And being in my 60s, high quality wasn't necessarily connected with today's high-end/ luxury fashion category as we didn't have to pay the ridiculous prices back in the day, but still got high end/luxury. As for people selling off their collections, shoppers can be very fickle. One minute, it's the buy-to-invest mentality and next it's the get-rid-of-it all and go Zen/minimalist mentality. I don't follow any of it and buy, keep for long periods, or get rid of whatever I think either fits or no longer fits into my personal lifestyle. I started a major clean out to be sent to resale starting in 2020 as I was at home on Zoom and no longer physically at work thus no longer wasting time sitting in traffic which gave me more time at home to get things done. But, I have also been replacing items with ones that fit my present lifestyle. However, I always keep various fashion items from decades ago as I'm a multi-decade fashion wearer as not to look cookie cutter. I like to pull out old fashion pieces and restyle them. Plus, the quality of them was really high back in the day when I purchased such fashion pieces. The serious part of my wardrobe is basically from the 1980s to the present. The key for me is to buy evergreen pieces and by evergreen pieces I am not referring to "quiet luxury" as I'm totally not into that concept. My mind is too creative and eclectic for so-called "quiet" luxury by according to the present definition. Evergreen pieces take on different meanings depending on one's personal style. I focus on what is best for my needs and don't get caught up in all of the hype and hoopla of others. And also....these days it's a good idea to slow down and not fall into every revolving door "IT" item that's out on the market as those items usually don't survive the test of time. Greetings from Los Angeles

I want to hold onto what I do have. I am turned off by the price increases. Maybe once a year I will carefully consider what I want to purchase. It would have to really capture my attention.

Hi Cassie, I really appreciated this video. For myself, I got most "luxurious" stuff I was longing for in the last around 35 years. And I am selling now some bits and pieces , I don`t see myself in anymore or over the years it became clear it is more a dust bag holder than a used object. As I think stuff should be used as long you are not a museum. Second of all the so called luxury became quality wise less and less luxurious, 2nd to it: I maybe became a little bored to see it everywhere(social media had for sure its role in this). 3rd: I like much more to support independent and upcoming thrilling designers than this annoying conglomerates with their even more annoying circus like mega shows , we are paying for to get mediocre quality and glitzy showroom shops. I grew up, worked and love fashion all my life but since around 2010/12 for me personally, the mega brands started to fade away for being aspirational. I still follow you (sorry , sounds horrible, but followed two nice persons but was bored to death with unboxing and showing what to wear) cause I love your personality that you are showing in your videos (plus family and cat), but I have to admit that I am oversaturated with any unboxing or shopping sprees or what`s new in the shops. Therefore loved this content.

Such a real and almost emotional talk. So many good points that people forget about when it comes to these things. Thank you for bringing us so much joy Cassie 💖

I understand that things have changed and I too have decided to slow down a bit. However, if I find a great deal in the preloved market, I’m buying the bag! Case in point, a Chanel WOC in so black for $2,500 in excellent condition full set… yes say it with me! Buy the bag…and I did! True story 😂! Thanks for an amazing and very honest video! Enjoy your weekend!

I get it like you do Cassie. For me, it's working within my budget and space, not to mention do the pieces serve me. So ultimately a lot did go and may still go, but it doesn't mean I won't stop buying the right pieces 😁 . Thanks for sharing.

Prices are getting insane but I do just love this stuff so much also that I keep buying! Most of my friends do not understand... that's why it's so nice to watch you and this community. So thank you for not going to rehab 😂😂😂❤❤

You expressed exactly my thoughts! Im not opposed to selling my bags if they are just not being used or just dont suite my style any longer. But it is not def a 'Im selling my bags because luxury is dead situation' 🤦🏻♀️

I just want to say I really appreciate the hard work you put into these kinds of videos. You do not just speak out of the side of your neck. You do your research. You quote Vogue, BoF, Outlander, Financial Times etc. It does not go unnoticed.

I think the main reason for other creators selling their stuff is the constant chasing of trends and it bags without staying true to themself. A lot of influencers went from glam to streetwear to quiet luxury now they are older and want the junk gone from their lives

Yes, you are right! I recently did a video on my channel about the beauty side of things. Many of these brands are now expanding into the beauty category to continue reaching more of the average consumer (Celine, Prada, Miu Miu, D&G just to name a few). Personally I’m still obsessed with luxury and can’t relate to the minimalist trend. I think a lot of these influencers are maybe burnt out, chasing a minimalist trend, or becoming mothers and have a lifestyle change (which is normal!)

Same here. I love fashion and always have. However, shopping luxury became a struggle recently predominantly due to quality issues. I think last year I returned more items than within last ten years, all because of defects and poor finish. Glad I'm not throwing away or selling my older purchases as quality was much better then. Obviously, I'm still on the lookout for something new as fashion brings me joy.

I think your collection shows how passionate you are about the art of fashion! 💚 I have changed my buying habits a bit over the last 18 months, I don’t just buy buy buy without thinking, I am more careful about what I actually do purchase. And I have been looking at more up and coming brands from less expected places.

Great video Cassie! At the end of the day, anything above basic necessities is a luxury. Everyone’s viewpoint of what luxury is to them is different and that’s completely okay! My motto, always do you! Thanks for your insight and for being your genuine self! ❤❤❤

You are fashion Cassie and that’s the difference! You have a real passion around it, around luxury, it’s you! There’s no doubt when we watch your videos . Look behind you, there’s nothing like it anywhere. You are not following whatever all the rest buy, you buy what represents you, it makes you unique! I will never stop buying luxury and actually I don’t even resell things. For me, when I buy the money is gone. I’m older than you, but there was no such a thing about reselling bags back in the days. Now it’s, I buy it, but I won’t use it much, or I’ll stress about it in case I want to resell. It kills all the joy to me! Anyway, you are a breath of fresh air and listening to you, we can let ourselves be. We can truly love all of it!

Yes I agree with you about these items being made to last. I have found this too. As you said, there does seem to be a lot less “risk taking” in terms of design. I am always more drawn to the more unique pieces - that you couldn’t find anywhere else. That’s why I stay tuned to your channel because you talk about the interesting pieces!!

I like luxury and will keep buying. I have cut back recently and have only bought 2 bags this year.
@susanhoch26775 ай бұрын
I think your perspective of the pieces in a collection being an investment and not just “stuff to have”. You have always been intentional about your purchases and I think it translates into justification for the items. Having nice things that make you happy and help you project a positive productive life is fine as long priorities are set and people aren’t impacted by the purchases (ie- uncontrolled debt).

Great video Cassie? I totally agree with your description log luxury as art. I think that is exactly why I am drawn to it also!

Great video🩵. No one should have to apologize for buying what they love. I have friends/family who have their daily Starbucks and their Stanley cup in different shades who will judge me for buying a new luxury piece maybe once a year. So silly. Love your collection and your unicorn content! Always so entertaining!

I recently had an emergency move that I had to do and I wasn't prepared for it and had no money saved, so the only way I could get quick money was to sell a lot of my prized designer items. I was able to come up with more than half of what I'd need to move, so it actually turned out that those items saved me in a way. Yes I don't have them anymore, but owning them at all turned out to be a return investment. So I realized I can both love fashion and recognize it's value in more ways than just it's appearance. So I'm on board with people continuing to buy these items if they can afford it at the time because they can enjoy it, and if they ever need to, they can get something back for it.

Agree with your points! I personally buy because its beautiful and bougie. A walmart handbag will never do anything for me 😂 bougie 4 life!

I adored you because you love every single item you own and your genuine love for fashion. Not like others influencers just for purpose of "unboxing" and few weeks later selling it for some ridiculously reason contradicted when unboxing gasping how much they "love" it. Keeping up the great contents and have fabroulou weekend.💗

Loved this deep dive. I completely agree and I’m on the same page as you are with my collection. However, I have been shopping less because I’m quite bored of all the selections coming out. I think designers taking less risk and creating fewer special collections has me quite bored because I don’t have a classic/basic/staples taste for the designer items I buy. I still shop around a lot but even my wishlist is much smaller than it usually is because I just don’t like much of what is out there. Especially when you have a signature piece from a brand and then they aren’t offering more creative or special options then there isn’t reason to buy more of the same signature piece so then I just don’t shop that brand

I've finally realized what kind of luxury lover I am. I have certain things I want my bags to have, ie; top handle/shoulder carry ability. The same for my clothes, shoes. I know what works for me now and what I like. I am so glad you are like me in keeping these amazing things that make us happy. Wait, I could be classified as a luxury hoarder, lol. It's been a minute since I've bought anything new, but I will definitely continue to buy the things I love and make me feel good. Great video as usual...
