I had this medium size black Chanel bag with white logo in it that I borrowed from my sister to bring to Hawaii for vacation. Everybody was complimenting it. I didn’t even know then what a Chanel bag was. When I went for my job interview, the interviewer told me the Chanel bag was very beautiful and for sure her daughter would love to have one like it. On my first day of training, my preceptor jokingly told me, if I’m tired of the bag, I can throw it to her. They said the bag must have costed me a fortune. I became curious about the bag that I asked my sister where she bought it. She said it was given by another sister from Canada so I called that sister too. The said sister from Canada asked me if I want, she’ll give me the wallet that came with it too. I said how can you give away such expensive stuff. She said, “I don’t think so. our sister in law gave it to me as a gift when she came back from the Philippines. She said, she bought it from the local market selling fake bags for $5 dollars.” Moral of the story. Not all that glitters is gold. Fake ones glitter too. I don’t care about the brand. But for me I buy luxury items, because I like the story, brand and quality, I do it for me, not to impress others, that’s why a copy won’t do. Why pay up towards $1.000 for the best replica Rolex, when I can save longer and get the real thing for $7.000. Yes I’m aware it’s a big difference, but I personally prefer less luxury, that’s real luxury. As a local, these are also the places the "ladies of the night" go to sell their gifts for any number of reasons. They will have typically been heavily used to entice but if kept well maintained, they will still be a great buy. A lot of women going through separations or divorces also take their stuff to these shops because (in case they aren't aware) if you get married to someone in Monaco, whoever has the money, they are protected by law. Love Monaco, such an international destination that holds a ton of secrets. ;)

The shops still serve a purpose though and are a bit of fun. There are a lot of unique and good things about Monaco. For instance, yesterday was the unveiling of the memorial quilts for World AIDS Day on behalf of Princess Stephanie's charity, Fight AIDS Monaco. Monaco serves it's purpose in many ways, there are many amazing and fascinating people in the Principality.
